Stayed in the new one bedroom villa, service exceptional, so attentive. Villa, everything you could have hoped for. Loved it!

Don Carlos might be bettered in some respects by certain other other 5 star hotels, but you would be hard pressed to find one to return a higher score in terms of open friendliness coupled with high efficiency of it's staff, at all levels.

Feb, not a good month as many of the facilities were not operating. Perhaps need to check before booking if these are important to your holiday.

Staff were friendly and accommodating

This was not a five star hotel. Our one bedroom deluxe villa was opposite a very large and noisy building site. We would not have booked this holiday had we known. We have taken this matter up with the hotel and intend to take to Booking.com

The staff, without exception, were polite and helpful. They made us feel at home. The room was a good size, clean and kept fresh by good housekeeping staff. Room service lost a little in translation but who cares, the food and service was excellent. The facilities, given it was Winter season, were excellent. The Spa had a good range of treatment and were particular to check on the recent medial history of their customers. Very professional Plenty of good local restaurants and shops within walking distance. Out of town by some 10 minutes in a taxi perhaps but more than made up by all the above. Wi Fi worked well. We had a great stay, truly 5 star!

The rooms are generous, the hotell-park is beautiful, close to the beach, wery easy and laid-back system with towels, sunchairs and so on, you just use them without hawing to sign any list or pay any fee.

The distance to Marbella - and the lack of nearby restaurants - if you want to eat away from the hotell.

High quality hotel with excellent amenities

we upgraded our room on arrival to a room with a balcony , the room was fantastic and very reasonable upgrade price .the staff were all very helpfull and professional,it really is a great hotel ,and the choice of breakfast was truly outstanding,and i mean TRULY outstanding!! also the hotel thai restuarant was wonderfull I would highly recomend it.

I have only one small niggle ,the cost of some drinks in the bar or by the pool was excessive a small glass of beer £7.40 outragous.a small glass of water £3.50 on the plus side wine at the table was in line with any restaurant.

The gardens

Wonderful hotel in a ideal location. Very friendly and helpful staff always eager to please. Splendid gardens with access to the beach Well located with easy access to Marbella town and Porta Banus

The fitness club is not free of charge in the hotel (free of charge only small room with 3 athletic trainers). Reasonable fitness club in the territory of tennis center is under additional charge 15EURO per day. Part of restaraunt and bars at the territory of the hotel were closed. Poor animation program.

Everything was gréât! One of the things to improve is the activities during day time! This would make the hotel less boring during the day time. Thank you.

We liked hotel but were disappointed with the food at night & breakfast. We were surprised to be asked to pay E15 per person to use the Beach Club. Given star rating & cost of stay would expect it to be included in room tariff.

Almost everything. polite and helping staff. beautiful garden and beach. lavish fresh breakfast. excellent massage treatments. Good entertainments in the evenings and excellent barbecue buffet on Saturdays and Sundays. attending to small but pleasant details such as freshening drinks in the lobby. Turn off your mobile and don't take your laptop/Ipad if you can. you can relax totally.

1) We had no view from our room which was located on the ground floor, only a path and walls, but at the end it didn't bother too much because most of the time we were by pool or on the beach. 2) Wifi signal was very weak in our room, you had to sit either by the door or in the lobby, but again: if you are in holidays maybe it is better to be unreachable!

We liked everything; the staff, the beach, the room, the facilities. But what really makes the difference is the staff which was very friendly and ready to assist us with bookings and provide tourist information.

There was always too much confusion for the breakfast...a queue to enter the restaurant and, sincerely, the choice of the food could be better. Am not a real fan of Nespresso, but there was no alternative:( But in total it was a great holiday, nothing to complain apart of these 2 small details.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, we were made to feel welcome and had a very relaxing holiday.

Allocation of sun beds around the pool area and beach club. H Guests and non guest were allowed to reserve sunbeds early morning by simply placing a hotel towel on the sunbed. These beds were often empty for most of the morning/early afternoon. Guest did not seem to get priority over visitors in the beach club faciloity. Would have recommended any bed left unoccupied for two hours with no personal belongings present should be re-allocated. Saw one family who reserved beds both on the beach and the pool area at the same time.

Overall impression about the hotel is very good

Very impressed with the hotel, it's facilities & the staff. I lived in Marbella for 6 years and returned for a break not knowing there was ever a hotel down there as quality as Don Carlos. Highly recommended for families as well as couples with having easy access to Nikki Beach too. Excellent stay. Thank you.

Had a bad run of service at the beach club one afternoon, but it was very busy. No complaints really.

The facilities are good, well positioned and well maintained. Near beach. Near restaurants.

Service in the bar /disco area is non existent. AND consistently so!!
