Everything was perfect location, and really big apartment
Are you going to Malaga? Do you like windows? Yes? Well, the Echegaray Suites may be the place for you! It offers a whopping 28 panes of glass in the living room alone! Floor-to-ceiling ones arrayed in a charming bay arrangement on the corner of a historic, pleasingly Spanish street corner! Plus more shutters than you'd find in a particularly sleepy Andalucian village at siesta time. AND the windows have delightful decorative wrought iron railings thoughtfully positioned over the lower bits of window so that you, your cat or an inadvertently dropped bagel don't cascade onto the streets below. Sounds perfect? Well, it is... unless you are a person even partially partial to sleep.
The variety of noise that will prevent you getting even four consecutive minutes of sleep during the night really is truly amazing.
The apartment is huge and perfectly located in the heart of the old town, with the Alcazaba, Roman theatre, Picasso Museum just a short walk away. Inside it is extremely well equipped and absolutely spotless, even the hangers on the clothes rail are perfectly uniform and all point the same way. It must be cleaned by an absolute obsessive.
That incredibly central location has a downside. The noise from the bars and streets in the immediate vicinity is enough to keep even a reasonably good sleeper awake, and alas the later it got, the drunker they got, and the less they cared about volume control. This carried on until 5am. This is absolutely not the fault of the owners of the apartment though so it's not exactly fair to mark them down on it. If you're young and like the late night party scene I wholeheartedly recommend this place, if you're not I suggest taking earplugs.
Very central location in the old city, large spacious living room with huge windows giving excellent views of the old city; host was very amiable and helpful
was somewhat noisy at night time
EVERYTHING! Was very central and surrounded by restaurants, cafes and bars. very clean and comfortable.
Some people might not like the nice from cafes etc in the surrounding streets - but did not bother me at all.
A very spacious apartment and great location
Surrounding area noisy at night
Great apartment, central location, and a large living area, very reasonably priced.
Could be a bit noisy at night time.
Very big and comfortable apartment. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location is the best.
Very accessible to all of the major attractions and a quick walk to the main transport links. Lots of cafés and shops on your doorstep. Loved the decor in the flat. Staff were really lovely and very helpful. Couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating.
Not a problem for me but because the flat is in the thick of things there is a lot of external noise which can either add to the charm or irritate if you want to sleep.
The apartment is in a great location in upper floor with a living room overlooking a pedestrian only crossroads. The living room has floor to ceiling old fashioned windows curving around the corner of the room. Lovely. Well furnished. Basic kitchen but did not use it in any event. Very large proportions to the rooms and well decorated and furnished. There is a small lift in the building next to the apartments entrance door but as there are so few apartments in the building it is rarely used and we never heard it. We were met outside exactly at the time we arrived by the 'caretaker' who lives in the top floor..really helpful and a good welcome. Location is the key here, absolutely in the centre and surrounded by bars, restaurants etc. Great...would stay again and wouldn't mind it as a flat to own in Malaga.
Other reviews have said it...street noise...the old fashioned windows are beautiful but it is noisy. I would suggest a compromise to the owners....fit secondary glazing to the windows of the bedroom only. We were there duting the carnival...sleep was difficult!
beautiful apartment close to everything in malaga.
the noise was abosolutely incredible two sleepless nights
Gorgeous apartment, could have stayed there a lot longer.
Quite noisy at night. Maybe a white noise machine would help this?
Very good location, many restaurants, shops etc around, pedestrian area. Nice suite, a lot of space.
Very disturbing noise from the street and restaurants nearby during some nights of the week. If you are easily disturbed by noise bring earplugs!
The apartment is nicely decorated, everything seems brand new. It is conveniently located in the city centre, walking distance from all the main sights in the old town.
The apartment urgently needs better sound proofing. It has single glazing in wooden frames that let through a lot of street noise. The marbled streets of the old town echo sounds around and there are always people up and about all through the night. In addition, street cleaning in the old town takes place in the middle of the night; we were kept awake from 3AM-6AM one night because the cleaners were using extremely loud high-pressure water jets to clean the streets. Earplugs were unable to mask that sound. The owners indicated that they are aware of this issue and mentioned that they plan on installing double glazing in the future. If you are a light sleeper: check with the owner first if they have done this. The apartment is great, but the noise really stops me from going there again unless they do a better job of soundproofing.
Spacious. Well equipped. Central location. Friendly reception.
Noisey outside at night but all the positives make up for that. A minor inconvenience only.
Massive, gorgeous, apartment with all the facilities you would need. Extremely central.
Due to central location and massive single glazed windows it is very noisy especially Friday/Saturday night. Fine for friends looking for the nightlife, wouldn't recommend for families.
This is a first class apartment, all fixtures and fittings are of a very high standard and quality, excellently appointed, we were very pleasantly surprised. Huge living and bedroom areas. We arrived on the last day of the Malaga festival and were in the middle of all the celebrations, it was fantastic. Usually we book seaside apartments but were swayed by all of the positive reports which are correct. Stay here and you will not be disappointed, heaps of restaurants, cafes and shops at your doorstep, easy access to all tourist places, 15 min stroll to the port and its restaurants. Juanma met us at the taxi stand and was enthusiastic and very helpful.
Negatives are hard to find. If you are a light sleeper the cleaning trucks etc may wake you during the early hours. But we slept through them and the end of the festival! Juanma is a great host but he has very basic English and we have poor Spanish.
