In a 19th-century Modernist mansion in the quiet town of Sant Feliu de Guixols, Hostal del Sol has swimming pools, a bar with terrace, and a free Wi-Fi hotspot.
Score from 311 reviews Very good
it was necessary pay for wifi, find parking was difficult in February.
We loved the bedrooms and value. The breakfast was excellent. The pools looked lovely.
Lots od steps, and paying fro wifi.
Nice view around the hotel, not from the room. High speed wifi connection.
Location is far from the town (20 mins by walk). There is no shop around the hotel. The room was located through a dirty and dark garage, even though I did not come by a car and also I selected sea view with an extra fee.
Beautiful sea view room with balcony and lovely furnishings
Out door and indoor pools and sea view restaurant
Amazing view, facilities, location, relaxed vibe.
A little dated, but made it charming.
Excellent location, helpful staff
Nothing negative to report
All places need to upgrade or fix. Friday night and at about 11 pm we did not get anything to drink. We would liked to enjoy the last evening in Spain with one bottle Cava, but this was not possible. All the hotels restaurants were closed when we arrived back to the hotel. The staff said that even water is not allowed. Otherwise you don´t get even coffee anywhrere, even daytime. Perhaps from the pool bar, but it is far away from the reception. There was only one automatic and even that wasn´t at the reception -we found it by accident. 4-star hotel, really .. ?? There were rule, that if you do not get a receipt from the pool bar, is not permitted to pay. I can guess why, but is it really customers job to watch the staff? I dont´t think so, that´s supervisor job. I was on holiday. We ordered shuttle to airport and paid for that 55€. It was an ordinary taxi and without order it would have paid 51,70€. Yes, 3 euros, but still... No, no, no and no. Not even 3 stars. *
Utsikten och läget!
We didn't have a sea view despite asking for one.
We liked the location - very scenic, with views of the coast. The buffet was of a high quality, although possibly less choice than our last visit. Room was comfortable and clean.
We were disappointed in the lack of staffing in the bar areas. The one member of staff on duty was hard pressed to serve the large numbers of clients. It was difficult to get served and the wait for a drink was lengthy.
the view- fantastic
dirty Not a good service
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, the staff were very very nice and helpful. The location and the rooms are absolutely wonderful, the waiters are extremely careful and nice. Overall is excellent.
The only thing that it should be a little improuved is the food, it should be more diversified.
The location is amazing and the view is really great Swimming pool right by the sea All green feeling like in an exotic park Rooms nice and clean Eduardo from the restaurant made our stay even better Recommended!
Two single beds in the room (queen or king was not available at all) Hard to find the room with all the luggage Reception staff needs to optimize the check in/out process
Amazing gardens, pool and views. Perfect for a relaxing couple of days.
Not the friendliest or most helpful staff.
The hotel is well located, probably in the most beautiful part of the little town and relatively close to the highway in case you want to travel to surrounding areas and explore Costa Brava. The staff are very welcoming and extremely helpful. The external areas are pretty good, with 2 (not too big though!!) pools and a nice area to have drinks at night with great sea view. Comfortable and big rooms with A/C.
The rooms could use a refurbishment. They have a very 80s look!! The breakfast buffet has a million things, but of very poor quality. Cereal were chewy, eggs and bacon not good either. They should reduce the variety and focus on the quality. Overall a bit pricy for what it is. It’s has 4 star facilities, but 3 star class! External parking can be a bit tricky at times. I would recommend it but at a more reasonable price to EUR125 per night. I think EUR80 is a fair price.
Pool, sea and gardens
Breakfast, lunch and dinner
The location, garden and setting are very nice.
It is amazing that the hotel is rated with 4 starrs. The hotel lacks maintenance, the room was very noisy (airco) and didn´t smell very well. The breakfast consists of a lot, but poor quality food and drinks
Lack of any real alternative food to full buffet lunches and dinners other than bags of crisps type if things.
English of employees is very poor. Sometimes it was hard to find a parking place
Fantastic seaview from the top floor appartement.
Bad sun beds and too crowded around the pool. The outdoor fascilities need a facelift.
The environment of this hotel is amazing, it's located along the Costa Brava in a idyllic cove and the view from the swimming pool (which is by the way superb) was very calming and perfect for a short stay. The staff was very nice and helpful and the rooms impeccables.
The breakfast had its rush hour around 9.30am and that happened to be quite chaotic since everybody was fighting around the buffet. There is a supplement of 5 euros if you want the Wifi in your room.
The staff! For the most part "excellent" & one of the reasons this was our 4th visit in 2 years. The quality of the welcome was exceptional!
Place in need of "freshening up". Barman great, but essentially monolingual. Bar should be open earlier in the evening. Slight decline in the quality of the buffet supper - not much choice of entrée & plats principals were fine (Friday) but mediocre (Saturday)
The location was super and the staff friendly and helpful.
The room looked onto the side street and felt a bit dark and the balcony was dusty from over hanging trees but once the heating was on and the cleaner had noticed the dust it was okay. Though I envied the sea view and would ask for that in future.
Oh my god! I just so love it there. It's home from home!! I come regularly. Origionally with a large group on a course. Now on my own or a small group. So nice. The staff so welcoming. I'd recommend this hotel for a retreat away . Kate
The view was amazing and the hotel on the whole was good (some areas needed attention). There was a good selection of food in the restaurant and the waiters were very helpful.
The waiter in the bar spoke only Spanish(which is fine) but just ignored us, rather than try to explain why he had no red wine! The jacuzzi and sauna facilities should be free and definitely available all day; not just at short selected periods.
