the hotel is situated on a hill overlooking Barcelona! The grounds are beautiful! The restaurant served excellent food for a very good price! The bed was big and comfy, lots of pillows! The room was very romantic, the bathroom spacious and nicely tiled. Staff was helpful and courteous.
Came by ferry at night and left at dawn for airport. Chose hotel because it was about halfway to airport and gave us an opportunity to experience a little local flavor on a very short layover. They were very helpful and room was functional, but dated. If there had been a wedding going on (popular spot for them, I'm told) it would be hard to get any rest, I think. We enjoyed our stay, but I think it might not be the best choice to see and do things in Barcelona.
Lovely grounds and views Good and inexpensive meals Comfortable rooms
Nothing really but a little too far outside the city for sightseeing.
Great hotel away from Barcelona. Great breakfast buffet and dining food. Will be going back
The area of the hotel, breakfast room, very friendly staff
Room neighbour was extremly loud; no warm water in the tub
location , great price, lots of amenities welcoming lobby, parking, nice town
bed size, exterior is under renovation so will improve over time. Promoting Saturday wedding that in Spain go until 3AM on Sunday. So be advised if booking for Saturday night
The food was very good, the staff were attentive and friendly, the outdoors surrounding the hotel were nice. It was nice and clean.
The rooms are old and outdated. I was cold and the pillow was very uncomfortable to put my head on but most of all, every noise from outside could be heard in my room. The walls were made of paper and there is no carpet in the hallways which meant you can hear all the guests walking up and down outside your room. I did not get to sleep till 2:30.
The room would have been very spacious if it were not for the extra bed in the room. Lovely gardens. there was a wedding taking place but not too noisy and did not carry on late. Great view from our balcony. It was a bit of a walk but found a nice square with good restaurants.Very helpful staff.
Nothing really. The area around is not very nice but this was like an oasis in a desert. Cannot comment on the food as our flight was too early to sample the breakfast which did not start till 7am and we had to be at the airport for 7.20am.
This hotel seems really nice when you first see and enter it. Hoewever some rooms are really outdated and need to be renovated. Price-quality is ok. A nice place to stay overnight if you need to catch an early flight. Would recommend however not to have dinner in the restaurant but take a taxi to Barcelona centre dor some real nice food. Personnel is not very friendly. Room for improvement I would say.
The location of the Hotel El Castell is great and it looks well maintained from the outside. The public areas are all pretty good and look like they have recently been refurbished. Food in the restaurant and at breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Wifi was free and worked really well, meaning the morning emails were answered on the terrace :)
The bedrooms need some work. The first bedroom I was offered had a 6' long single bed; I am 6'4". The furniture in this room was past its best. The second bedroom had a longer double bed, but was in an annex and in need of refurbishment.
This unique location allows you to relax away from it all, as you watch the world rushing by from the top of the hill, yet still in touch. Friendly staff and good food Our second visit and hope to return soon, even if for the breakfast
As we relied on taxis to get to and fro to Barcelona Its a shame this location is so unknown to taxi drivers, who took us for a ride several times
Good location.wonderful breakfast.Nice members of staff. Watching aircraft land and take off from the room balcony over a drink was exciting in the evenings.Surrounding hills were good for exercise .
Near to airport so it was our stopover for the last night. We chanced upon the restaurant at lunchtime, it was full of local business me which was a good sign, and the lunch was excellent and reasonable.
Although near the airport it wasnt easy to find, thankfully we had a satnav. If we stayed again I would drop the car off early and get the hotel shuttle.
The restaurant served a delicious dinner, the morning airport shuttle was well done, and the entrance was accessible to everyone! Gracias!!
Bathroom was tight, but if you are looking to stay in a historic building, it's expected.
Breakfast was excellent Administration and kitchen staff cooperative
rooms need renovation which is underway No staff available to assist elderly couple negotiate old charm lift with bags to room
Very nice restaurant with good food; nice views
It is an older establishment; public areas more renovated and newer than guest rooms. Most rooms require climbing stairs. Parking a major challenge - we arrived while a wedding party was lounging around. Somewhat difficult to find at night (thank goodness we had a gps device). Parking apparently a challenge throughout Sant Bois.
We have styed there before and always liked it. Good restaurant and breakfast, pool etc.
On this occasion we were put in rooms at the lower level of the hotel complex and these rooms are way inferior to the very nice rooms on the upper levels.
Reception was perfect Rooms and cooling system was very good in terms of space and cleanliness as well as fast wifi.
The threamill stress I go through daily while returning ! It helped yhough for me to assess my cardiovascular status.
Loved it! So sorry we could not stay another night!
Situated at the top of a hill there are great views of the city and surrounding hills. Only stayed 1 night but very happy with the room and the facilities including a nice pool area. Closer to the airport and a good alternative to staying in the city and there is a shuttle service to the airport if booked in advance and a quick rail service into the city. Did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the food.
Steep climb to the hotel if you do not have transport.
Quiet spot to unwind. Explore roman ruins, church and museum walk from hotel. Lovely crepe shop in town square. Don't walk to hotel take taxi from centre of Barcelona only 16-18 euros. A lot better than taking metro/train with luggage. Hotel on steep cliff.
The beauty, the pool, the lounge area outside
I heard the toilet flush from the room above very loudly. (Room 202)
The location and the territory of the hotel is unique. The view of Barcelona and the mountains surrounding with the sea lying at your feet in a distance is terrrrifffic, fantastic , splendid! The staff is helpful even if sometimes it is difficult for them to understand English or French but they are trying to perform as good as possible to meet the guests' requirements. The breakfast is excellent and very much value for money you pay. Very much recommended for romantic holidays !
The reception was good as most everything else. But we had abedroom overlooming the terrace and the music wen on too late.
The dinner was not good at all. Coral had the cod, plenty of bones.I had the turkey and it was overcooked for my liking.
I loved the relaxing atmosphere, and tranquil setting. Dinner was lovely
have nothing negative to say.
