We enjoyed our stay at Hotel El Rastro it is in a great location for exploring the walled city of Avila. Our room was beautiful, lovely and bright with both a large window, and window/door that opened fully. It was very quiet at night and we always managed to find parking on the street in front of the hotel.
The hotel restaurant is not open for snacks or dinner until later in the evening. But this seemed the case throughout Avila as we walked and could not find a place to eat earlier, so waited until 9pm. Also the restaurant was not open for breakfast (perhaps off season) so visiting a nearby cafe was fine but also not open earlier than about 9am. Our family was also staying in another room, it was still facing the side street, but not as bright with only one window and although booked into non-smoking the room did smell of cigarette smoke. Overall our family enjoyed the El Rastro.
Spacious room with good views and everything was very clean. The female member of staff on the day we checked out was very friendly and smiley.
The male member of staff on the first day was rude and unfriendly. He gave us a twin room instead of a double and said there was nothing he could do after accusing me of lying about asking for a double room. Very unaccomadating. When i walked out the hotel and said bye he failed to even look up.
1. Price for the room. 2. Very clean.
1. No access to wi-fi in our room. 2. Quite a problem with finding place to park the car.
Helpful staff. Good value, clean single rooms with en-suite facilities. Good central location with secure storage for touring bikes. Simple but pleasant restaurant (with menus in English!).
Clean, nice rooms, great food
Hard to find, parking ticket
Lovely room with with view over street. Clean and comfortable
No coffee facilities
Nearby street parking was free (Sunday), but is limited Size and cleanliness of the room Location Firm beds
Staff was not very friendly Elevator went to certain floors, not ours~so lots of different sets of steps to climb with luggage
I liked its location
There was no facility for having a breakfast. The staff were not friendly we seemed to be an intrusion
The hotel room was gorgeous and fantastic value for money. Avila is stunning and I thought this hotel was just as lovely. The staff didn't speak English, but were very patient with our quite basic Spanish and we were able to find out about where to park and so on. For anyone else who is wondering about parking, the hotel doesn't have its own parking but there is a multi-storey car park just outside the town walls, about a 5 minute walk from the hotel, that allows long stay parking. We parked there for about 24 hours and it costed about £14. A great hotel and brilliant value.
A very nice inside the walls hotel in Avila. The hotel is very conveniently located very near one of the wall exits and and a big parking lot. Extremely useful as driving through old town could prove almost impossible. Quiet, spacious rooms and a pretty decent Italian restaurant in the premises.
Nothing. Everything was ok.
The atmosphere inside is like in ancient times, like you live in your own castle. Very spacey room, very clean and comfortable. There was fresh air in the room even without air-condition, because of old stone walls. the location is perfect - in the city center and in the quite area, inside the city walls and near free parkings (outside walls).
Location Room are simple, but clean and neat
Air conditioning was not working Terrace upstaris was noisy (as we did not have A/C we needed to have the windows open)
The staff, who spoke very little English, were very helpful and tried hard to answer any queries we had. The rooms were lovely, large, well equipped with good quality furniture. The hotel was very bright, clean and in a good location.
Nice clean hotel in a good location. When we booked the price was cheaper than most hostels. The reception staff were pleasant. The room was big enough and clean. The bathroom was big and clean. All in all a small amount of money well spent.
location was great.
hotel needs mini bar in rooms.
very friendly staff, nice rooms, good location within the historic centre.
no breakfast available
The hotel was in an excellent location and a wonderful location
Noise from the cafeteria late at night
Great location and excellent for pets. Easy access to City being within the walls.
Location and staff and ambience of the hotel
A nice clean hotel. We were comfortable there. We did not feel disadvantaged by not speaking Spanish although the staff did not speak good English. Hotel El Rastro respected our bed selection.
The room could be improved by a fridge, (better)desk, easy chair, kettle, tea and coffee. We used a local unsecured wi-fi signal not the hotel system. I am sorry the form of this review leaves me finishing on negatives. We enjoyed our stay and rated it the best of the 4 hotels we visited during this trip.
The location was fabulous, located within the city walls. There was free parking a few minutes walk away.
The receptionist was miserable and rather unhelpful, a smile would have been nice. The room was OK but we looked out onto a square tunnel with a view of the sky if you stuck your head far enough out of the window!! There was a potent smell from the boiler/heater filtering in the bedroom around 9.00 in the morning. We were expecting a nice view of the streets but to be far we didn´t ask to be moved to a room with a view.
We liked the location within the city walls, the old-style charming building, the high ceilings, which gave us a feeling of space, and we thought it was very good value for money. Our room had a wardrobe, bedside tables and lights, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a good size. Recommended. We had an evening meal in the attached restaurant one evening and it was very good.
Our room had a window but no view at all. There's no wifi in the rooms - you have to go and sit in reception, but since our room was near reception it wasn't really a problem.
beautiful old building within the city walls. close to old center. room big clean and comfortable, full of character.
no info in room about the city or hotel facilities
A central and quiet plsce
No breakfast or maybe it was after 8.30am
