Hostal Esmeralda  

Management was very helpful. Location was very good for access to city sites and tour buses as well within walking distance to most points of interest.

The owners of the Hostal Esmeralda were very friendly and helpful. I was there for few days and when we left I felt like I knew them previously. Great location very close to Puerta del Sol Metro and walking distance to Museo del Prado and Plaza Mayor among other must see places. Close to shops and restaurants

Situated over a very noisy street .... but in the centre of Madrid nowhere is quiet, even at 6am!

Location just a few meters to the metro-staff is fantastic and helpful. In puerta del sol square where you find all shops &resturants you need- 10 min walking to airport bus station,value to the money.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room had been newly renovated and was kept extremely clean. There were two sets of double paned windows to keep out the street noise. The Museo del Jamon was right next to the hotel and is a great place to get breakfast, lunch, snacks, coffee or beer/wine. We would definitely return.

Great location for sight seeing with all the bars and resturants one could need nearby. Staff extremely helpful and friendly, and rooms spotless. The nextdoor 'Museo del Jamon', was perfect for a quick sandwich and drink, at low cost.

The rooms are small, but normal for a Hostal, and despite double,double glazing you can hear the nearby bars at night - but a price to pay for being so close to everything.

Great location, footsteps from Sol train stops, a few blocks from Gran Via. Modest room, but fine for the price and location.

The hotel staff are very friendly and cooperative. Despite having very little knowledge of English they tried to help us as much as they can and was willing to walk the extra mile to make us feel comfortable.

It is somewhat difficult to find the hotel in the busy Puerta del Sol area of Madrid. There were some technical issues related to the toilet which they tried their best to fix but was not entirely successful.

Location is excellent, literally a one minute walk from Puerta Del Sol.

The staff did not speak English meaning we could not get any advice from them regarding the city.

Hostel is just in the city centre

it is in the central of Madrid, great location! Workers dont speak English but they are warm and helpful, they give their best.. clean rooms.. worth the money and also cheap one.. if you gonna use hotel just for sleeping and expecting not much, it s really good for it..

I and my friend stayed one week at the hostal Esmeralda in Madrid and we really had a great time in Madrid. We were really pleased that we stayed in this hostal, it's so central of Madrid, so close of everything, it was great to be able to walk to see Madrid instead of taking the metro. The room we had was good, cleaned everyday and new towels and Pedro, the owner and his wife were even so nice and friendly. Pedro recommended some excellent places where to eat in Madrid, very helpful with showing on the map places. I definitevely stay again at the hostal Esmeralda. Really a big thank you to Pedro who made our stay pleasant.

Friendly staff, clean and comfortable. Small but great for the price and location. Only down side, there were not enough electrical plugs. Would recommend it for those who want to be close to the center, don't expect a lot. It's clean and comfortable.

Hostal Esmeralda was very centrally located in downtown Madrid; easy access to shopping, attractions and metro station.

Rooms are very small.

Like most small hotels in old district, it is a bit noisy.

I chose this hostel for its location. The down side is that it was impossible to sleep, as there was so much noise outside.
