Hotel Espana Ramblas is a redecorated art deco hotel, originally built in the early 1900'S. It is just beautiful. Rooms are decorated in a very modern design. Bathrooms are beautiful with high tech toilets, showers and sinks. Beds are comfortable. The hotel is in an excellent area just off La Rambla, steps away from shops, restaurants, tour bus line and the boqueteria. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. In addition, given how beautiful this hotel is, the daily rates were very affordable. The hotel also boasts a lovely restaurant frequented by local Barcelonians.Highly recommend this hotel. Absolutely loved the hotel. However, for those making reservations, and requiring or desiring perfect quiet, I recommend requesting a room that does not face the busy street it faces. Due to the layout of the hotel, most rooms do not face the street.

The hotel itself just on a different level from all the hotels I was. And I have been many. The hotel is located in the best The rooms although not large but there are whatever you ask I am afraid to tell other people. That the next time I come to Barcelona will not stay places!

I was travelling with a friend, we booked the hotel to be close to all amenities, and it certainly was. The staff were friendly and pleasant, the breakfasts conveniently laid out with plenty of choice, if expensive. A very modern, contemporary hotel with an amazing bar on the top floor. There were aspects about the hotel we didn't like, such as lack of storage in the room. We were facing onto the road outside, it was very dark and noisy so we wouldn't book a room on this side of the hotel again. The bathroom, whilst very modern, was totally impractical. The basin was too long and shallow, taking up space so there was not enough room for toiletries for both of us. However, we would book the hotel again, if we come back to Barcelona and we certainly intend to do that.

This is a 5 star property close to the main street in Barcelona. It was excellent value for the price we paid. An historical building which has been magnificently updated. Having to pay for wi-fi is out of date and no longer appropriate

Incredibly close to the ramblas, silent street nevertheless, staff super professional, trendy internal structure, hi-tech furniture Standard room too small for a 4star sup hotel, not free of charge wireless internet connection, housekeeping is noisy from time to time

My group loved the hotel. The staff could not have been more professional. The renovations were a wonderful surprise. I love the location of the hotel!! Also, we loved the showers! The only disappointment involving our stay was that we were forced to cancel one night of our stay in the hotel due to the renfe train strike (totally beyond our control). I contacted Hotel Espana and they refused to refund the money for that night (for 10 double rooms), citing as the reason that I had booked with booking.com. Since Hotel Espana used this online resource, I would expect a higher level or professional collaboration. We lost a great deal of money and would have appreciated any consideration, how minimal. We are no longer renfe fans and will travel by bus as we were forced to do this year. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

A lovely hotel with a great atmosphere. The entrance is fantastic with beautiful decor and welcoming and professional feel. The rooms are comfutable dispite being a little small. Location was ideal for getting onto metro and la rambles. Do not turn left out of the hotel entrance- a little rough and would not recommend walking down alone. However, overall, a very good hotel with excellent staff, thankyou!

I book this hotel because is a four stars hotel very close to the Theatre de Liceu. Hotel Espania is a very luxury design hotel. We enjoy the rooms modern , despite the dimensions, the very nice breakfast room- Sala des sirenes, the bar with an exquisite fire place, and also the restaurant, a piece of art. The rooms are small, and, if you have a lot of luggages is a little bit difficult ;practically, in the room you can stay only in bed.The bathroom can be more clean.

Great style and design however the rooms are too small. We could not turn on or off the selection of lights because the switches were squashed against the bed. We bumped and bruised our legs as we had very little room to pass between the bed and the desk. There was no room to use the small table in front of the small sofa so it was a nuisance why have it taking up space when there is no room to actually use it. People want to relax when they are on a holiday and space is one of the greatest aspects of relaxation. Rooms too small

Location perfect , very central but quiet as situated just off the ramblas on a quiet side street. Hotel was exceptionally clean and hotel staff very helpful and pleasant. Hotel room was well thought out. Wi Fi. Was not included in the rooms. In previous experience wi Fi would be free in 4 star hotels.

Superb modern art deco design, stylish high tech rooms, perfect location, Exceedingly small (standard) room with poor sound proofing & pratically no natural light (window directly faced a wall!), relatively costly wi-fi fees.

We were there for opera and the location was perfect - 28 steps from the side entrance to Liceu! Our room had a window onto an atrium with a green wall so we had a wonderful cool breeze for sleeping and absolutely no street noise. Staff was friendly and helpful - especially Miren in the bar in the evening. Also nice architecture and decor. We would definitely stay there again. And - the rate when we checked out was 14 euros less per night than what was quoted when I booked!

Very convenient location, the stuff excellent and answered to all our questions.Prefer the interior rooms. Excellent room and payed tv in greek language. The metro station Liceu- l3 almost just outside the hotel ! The cheapest bottle of water opposite the hotel in a mni mini market 60 cents. In Ramblas we found it 2 euros and more and in other places at least 1.20!! The bathroom doesn´t have heat

Ideal location, lovely modern fitted bathroom, comfortable and relaxing feel about it. The rate we paid was good value for the quality. We would have preffered to have had breakfast included but to be honest is was too expensive when you compare the cost of 20 Euro each to what we paid for the room. We had the breakfast the one morning and it was excellent but didn't represent VFM. This hotel would do well to seriously look at its charges for breakfast and at 10/12 Euro + tax would I feel encourage people to book.
