There was nothing really horrible, just nothing that was really good. As I said, if price and location are all that matters, look no further. I might stay there again, but I would rather pay more and stay at a place that makes me feel good to be there, rather than at a place which is just barely adequate.
You couldn't ask for a better location-- right on Puerta del Sol. The price is right-- €40 for a single room in the back, which I would recommend if quiet is important to you. If all you want is a bed and a place to park your bags, look no further. It advertises itself as gay, but everyone but me was straight. It's not a big deal, but I wanted a gay place because of the camaraderie, The owner was minimally helpful on all of my questions. I felt he resented my asking. The glass on the door was painted over, but still allowed light in. There were no instructions on how to use the AC. The breakfast was edible, but not good. The door handle of the room needed tightening, making it difficult to operate, but the owner wasn't interested. The bathroom was very small, the soap they provided teeny tiny. The wifi mostly was fine, but occasionally spotty.
