Very quiet and clean, good beds, pleasant lounge area and very helpful owner who went out of his way to make our stay as good as possible.

Some rooms rather small, we swopped for one at the front for only a small extra cost.

The host at the hostal was very lovely and helpful. He have us great restaurant options and highlighted all the best places to see in Madrid. The room was just what we needed, simple yet clean and we even had the room attended to each day which is not usual for a hostal. Very close to Madrid P.A train station and a 5 min walk from the beautiful Reitro Parque.

    Nothing!

Hotel Gonzalo is in the Barrio de Las Letras, two blocks from the Prado's main entrance and walking distance from Atocha Station and the Airport Express stop at Plaza de Cibeles. Just one block away were all the tapas bars/restaurants on Calle de Jesus. Our room was small but had everything we needed. Air conditioning and wifi were great, and Javier and his family were available if we had questions. The price was more than reasonable and saved us a lot of money when we compared it to the prices we paid for hotels in other cities.

Toiletries provided: one small bar of soap. Since I always travel with a few extra toiletries, this was not a problem--just something for other travelers to be aware of.

Extremely helpful proprietor, who spoke very good English and made several very useful suggestions about things we could do or how to do them. He also recommended an excellent restaurant. Everything was kept spotless, and our room, although overlooking the street, was quiet because of double-glazing and double shutters.

The beds were a little hard but OK, and for the price, very reasonable.

Comfy, tidy and clean. Staff was nice and helpful! Loved the restaurants nearby! Good location, quiet, safe and convenient. There was a supermarket downstairs.

The basin was shallow! Wifi was good on the first day only! Too cold at night the aircon, needed to switch it off in the midnight!

The building is charming; the neighborhood is charming and convenient to several Metro stops; the staff are pleasant and helpful. And the hostal is a value for the price. We recommend it.

Friendly, hospitable staff. Basic but impeccably clean room. A few minutes walk from the Prado and close to the railway station. Several good bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

Air conditioning not in use. Balcony windows afforded some ventilation but street somewhat noisy throughout the night.

This property was ideally located within walking distance of everything but in a very quiet side street. The room was an excellent size and included bedside tables, a double wardrobe and a separate set of drawers.

The only thing I would have liked which the room did not have, was a small bar fridge.

Javier and Antonio. The room, the building, the location, the ambience of all. Our first stop in our first trip to Spain, it was the best welcome we could wish for.

Very kind staff and they are good at english that it was easier for me and my friend to ask questions and other stuffs. Wifi is great. Breakfast is little poor, but acceptable as the price is cheap. Room is very clean and i stayed in a double room with my friend for 48 euro a night, which was only 24 euro for each of us. The location is PERFECT it is closer to most of attractions!

Charming helpful owner. Wonderful location. Not a lot of facilities at the hotel; but a large, comfortable room and bathroom. Everything very clean. Great sense of security being on the third floor and having two front doors.

Prefer to eat breakfast at hotel when on holiday; but managed as plenty of places locally.

Excellent location: walking distance to attractions, e.g. Prado museum, Atocha train (Toledo 30 min.s by fast train), Plaza Mayor. Many restaurants in the vicinity. Friendly and helpful staff/family. Room was clean, beds were comfortable, shower was hot, toilet worked, internet worked. Room was small but adequate. 24 hour access (important considering the late Spanish dining hours).

    Corridor sounds were audible.

Excellent spot by paseo del Prado with plenty of restaurants around and close to all means of transportation. Just a 10 minutes walk from Cibeles (where you can take the 24/7 bus to the airport) and Atocha, main railway station. Clean rooms with fast internet and very very nice staff, Javier was very helpful with all our curiosities and requests. Would definitely come back!

    Nothing I can think of
