It is very well located. It is a beautiful hotel with great service, happy staff, always ready to help, it is always clean and tidy. The only thing was that the heating was too high and we suffered from it even during the nights. We had to open the windows all the time!

We were suppose to have one big triple room (with one double and one single bed next to each other). When we arrived it looked like the staff had no trace of our booking. I showed them my reservation that I printed and we were given a junior suite intstead we 2 sepearate rooms and TV'S. The room was huge, smelled very nice and had a wonderful bathroom. The breakfast is really goods as it had a huge choice The staff is very unfriendly and except one young man at the reception no one seemed to be able to speak one word of English. It did not really matter at the end as we did not need anyone's help.

Hotel was nice, great, safe area. We got exactly what we asked for, a quite room, non smoking. Breakfast was good. There was no free Internet, they charge 6EU per hour. we needed to check in for our flight and print a boarding pass, not available without paying 6 EU.

We always stay at this hotel when we go to Madrid. It's well located: taxi stand right in front of the hotel, close to Puerta de Alcala, easy way out to airport. The staff is always helpful and courteous. Rooms are ample and amenities are plentiful. Sometimes they give us an upgrade, especailly in late summer. I wish there were a way that they could solve the problem of the short flight of stairs that guests have to negotiate before arriving at the elevators. A ramp would be helpful.

The hotel ambiance is Victorian discreet elegance with ample rooms, comfortable beds and nice bath. The very nice gin bar at the basement, serves excellent drinks and the waiters are fantastic.

Comfort, convenience, location and secure parking which in the centre of Madrid (where we lived for 6 years) is at a premium.

The hotel is in a great upscale neighborhood full of shops, right down the street from Retiro Park and within walking distance to museums, restaurants, etc. Nice bar--and a great buffet breakfast. Staff is friendly, helpful, and polite; rooms are clean and bright and well-maintained. I was there with small children and they made every accommodation for us. A lovely place! The only thing they didn't have was high chairs in the dining room--but they didn't have those in any of the restaurants we went to in Madrid. Go figure.

For a good central position it had secure car parking under hotel and since we were touring this was important. However it was a squeeze and the cost was 25 euros per day! The hotel is an old style one and there was no control over the heating in the room. Internet was wifi in room but at a cost of 6 euros per hour. Most hotels do not charge for wifi now so this was unacceptable for an expensive hotel and we did not use it.

Very centrally located hotel within walking distance to major shops and restaurants. Hotel was nicely decorated and rooms are spacious with a separate living room. No tea/coffee facilities in the room. I was not feeling well during my stay and could not boil any hot water.

The hotel suites are spacious and nicely decorated. Bathrooms are nicely fitted out. Location of hotel is good - within walking distance to shops and restaurants and in a very good area/safe in Madrid. Some of the hotel did not speak much English and were not too helpful.

Breakfast absolutely excellent !! Location of the Hotel is perfect. In 5 minutes you reach the closest metro station and in 10 minutes the most famous places of the city. Old fashion style hotel, we booked a triple room, that wasn't so big. However, for the price we got, you cannot find better in Europe.

I had asked for a very quiet room given the fact that the Velasquez street is extremely noisy with rapid car circulation. The room I was given was facing the back side, so it was indeed protected from the street noise... but it had quasi no window since its only window faced an internal yard that was so deep and so narrow (a few meters wide) that it looked like a ventilation shaft. As a consequence the room was extremely dark during the day as if it had no window. In addition, the doors were too light to protect from internal noise by people returning to their room late in the night and slamming their door! In short, a bad experience! The breakfast buffet was OK although very expensive!
