Front desk staff not user friendly for English speakers. Toilet leaked, A/C not functioning, marginal cleanliness. All chairs in bar completely worn through fabric on arms. Needs to be re-done. Sounds harsh but we would stay elsewhere if we return to Madrid.
we got an upgrade to a suite for free. It was excellent!! The breakfast, great! Staff at front desk very cooperative and helper
The lifts do not reach the lobby and if you have heavy bags you have to descend several steps with them.
Convenient location. Good breakfast.
Too many unexpected steps between different rooms, and even within my room there was a dangerous step, difficult to see. Was charged 6 euro for a single cup of coffee.
the fact that we were put in a smoking room when we dont smoke and the hotel was full so no other option but to be in room
Very poor House keeper service they don.t clean the room every day until l complain. They don.t take the rabbish out of the room. The hotel too much classic out side the city center 3-4 miles
Service and Room condition
Hotel was clean and in a pretty good location. Short walk to the metro.
Furniture/decor felt really dated. Bed was uncomfortable and had awkward long pillows. Service door close to room made a horrible noise every time someone used it, and it was used late at night and early in the morning. Shower didn't have hot water, it was lukewarm at best.
Location Size of the rooms are very comfortable
Breakfast need more healthy options and better eggs menu Concierge could be more helpful
Size of rooms, good breakfast, cocktails in the bar with lovely staff! LOCATION LOCATION!
The Hotel is desperately in need of an update. The bathroom in our spacious suite was poorly lit, bath/shower small and cramped. The bed cover was BROWN! Come on Velazquez brighten the place up ! Carpets were old and badly stained.
Close to train station
The staff was very unhelpful I am fluent in Spanish so it wasn't the language barrior.
Very elegant sitting areas, excellent bar and efficient room service. Good location on Velazquez Street, and area of high-end stores and excellent restaurants. Not far from the center and an excellent bar.
The staff is competent but not particularly outgoing.
Old, outdated hotel that does NOT deserve the 4 stars it is marketed as. The staff was rude, not at all customer orientated this includes reception staff as well as cleaning staff. Noisy mornings due to cleaning staff screaming at eachother in the hallways, noisy innergarden due to ventilation system or elevator machine. Really bad isolation in general and smells humid regardless of amount of spray and wunderbaums hanged around the corners. I would not give this hotel more than a 2 star and probably fire a majority of the staff (especially the reception staff) if I was the owner. A smile is for free and in this hotel it is non-existant. NOT recommendable.
That neighborhood was better than I thought. I figured I'd be outside the heart of the city, but the hotel is literally just 10 or 15 steps from the metro entrance, and the shops and restaurants are quite nice.
Almost everything else! Service was poor to start (generally dismissive); the room was like a closet (one semi-frosted window looking out onto an adjacent wall); bed was dingy and hard; and to top it off, there was some sort of stink bug crawling unashamedly atop the toilet seat cover! What a nightmare.
Staff's service was total DISASTER. I asked about wifi password and the location of the dining hall, they treated me that I should have known. Even they laughed at me. Those are just an example. It was a horrible stay
Very roomy suite at a value price. Facilities are older, a bit dated but location is wonderful.
the location Last year every thing was very nice but this year every thing changed
Only one chair in the room. The toilet did no flash properly I have to ask 3 times before they fixed but still no too good the repair man said will come back but never did . last year I enjoyed very much no this year
no coffee maker in the room
The hotel could do with revamping some of the areas
Staff a bit stiff
No lift from first floor, need to go up some stairs firts; this isn't so handy with 2 baby trolley's
very nice hotel with good quality and access to main Madrid places - 5-10 minutes to metro stations and 15 minutes to Retiro garden.
Conditioning during the night - I felt cold every night and I couldn't regulate room conditioning by myself((
* only 10 minutes walk to Retiro Park. * near to shopping area and supermarket. * easy to find food and pub.
* Bad sound prove in the room. can easily hear ppl talk or run in the corridoor. * Same breakfast menu everyday. Imagine i stayed in the hotel for two weeks.
Excelent location and very professional and friendly Staff :)
Wifi connection poor...
Hotel was large and nice, and helpful staff
Locality of hotel was in a very expensive area in madrid, called salamanca, so eating out and entertainment in this nearby area is very expensive!!!
A very comfortable hotel in a good location for all places of interest. This was our second year staying at this hotel. We look forward to staying there again next year.
There was nothing to dislike about this hotel.
