The fact that receptionist wanted me to pay when I had paid already, then when finding out that I had paid, she was not particularly apologetic The wifi was very complicated and the following morning, I could not connect at all and gave up in the end
good views, large beds
No wifi for duration of visit shower lacked pressure
easy to find central location near everything sea views
bit noisy , but it's a Spanish town!
Got a Junior Suite with balcony overlooking the sea. Hotel perfectly positioned in Almeria for easy access to centre of town, bars & restaurants. Room very clean but slightly tired looking. Was nice having drinks in the evening beside the pool and watching the world go by.
Unfortunately when we stayed during the day there was a lot of staff gathered at main door shouting & banging all day complaining about not getting paid. Impossible to have afternoon siesta with noise. When questioning this with staff no information was given to us. Breakfast is poor and boring and the waiter was very unhelpfull and never available for service.
Location Pool Massage available Breakfast buffet Fantastic view from the balcony
Poor wi fi
Old salami in fridge
Dinner a little pricey and the bog standard Rueda white wine was overpriced.
Hotel is clean, comfortable, with a balcony facing the sea.
On the second night, there was a wedding party that went on all night till 5 am. No effort was made to keep the party quiet. We had a top floor, but still the noise was too loud to sleep. We filed a complaint but recd no apologies from the staff.
Have been to this hotel 5 times now and find the location good for the beach, shopping, sightseeing. Staff are very friendly, welcoming and will put themselves out to do anything for you, food selection has improved since our last visit. Would recommend anybody going to Almeria to stay at this hotel.a must is also go and visit mini Hollywood to watch western display
Carpets still need. Cleaning which I put in my review from last time we visited in June. Otherwise no negative comments to give.
The food was a bit of a let down and the views the bathroom is in need of some work done the hair dryer does not work
Staff were very helpful & friendly
Very dated hotel, poor breakfast, room not cleaned properly, hotel overlooks & very, very busy road which is non stop with traffic all day & night so a good night rest is not possible
the staff were very helpful, food was excellent and room was spacious and clean
protests outside front entrance by staff from other hotels in the group claiming they hadn't been paid for months
Location was great. Very clean. Rooms are big with nice views over the port.
Sign on bar stated that bar closed at 00:00 but at 11:40 the staff were cashing up. When asked to serve the bar person made a gesture of annoyance. Not what you expect when on vacation. The biggest issue was a protest by staff from a sister hotel. They had not been paid by their hotel so they staged aprotest at the hotel entrance every evening 18:00 - 20:00. They used whistles air horns and sirens and shouted continuously for 2 hours. Not very pleasant. My wife went out one evening during this period and had an air horn shoved into her face. So we had to stay indoors for the 2hrs for 6 of our 7 night stay . Bizarre.
Very friendly staff good location nice pool
There was a demonstration each night in hotel was very noisy
Almost nothing in this hotel, we've got a rotten food in breakfast. The waiter answer answer was not polite. The room was very dirty.
Great location, walking distance to tapas bars. Lovely clean hotel, and the pool is great.
Bit noisy by pool, as hotel is on a busy road junction. Walls a bit thin in bedrooms! No hot water at 8pm at night!
I liked the size of my room having booked a double room on special. Wifi was good once they had rebooted the router. There were more than adequate power points for recharging 'stuff' The bathroom was a good size and had a bath if one desired a good soak. They provide a generous amount of an excellent bath/shower oil. My room also had a great view out over the promenade, fountains and up the coastline. There was a little balcony accessible through doors and good airconditioning if required. Breakfasts were great and excellent value if included in room price. The restaurant and cafe food were reasonable. For English speakers only like me, communication was often difficult as few staff it seems have English as a second language but with a mix of pidgin Spanish/English combined with creative non verbal, we all managed. Loved the small but delightful swimming pool. All in all a very reasonable stay over four nights.
Some of the staff were grumpy and I felt somewhat dismissive of a solo female traveller. A smile goes a long way. I think staff might be also be feeling a bit insecure as while I was there, a demonstration from other Vita Chain staff was held outside the Gran due to non payment of wages for the past two months or there abouts. I guess that would stop any body from being cheerful.
The best part was the view if the harbour from the windows and balcony. The rooms were pretty basic. The restaurant had a very limited menu that seemed to be well prepared
Almeria is a busy city with excellent tapas bars. Hotel has a good pool and views from the front rooms. Breakfast is good and meals are good value. Friendly and helpful staff
Tea bags - you need a new supplier - the ones you have are tasteless, you might as well drink hot water
staff very friendly, but not always competent
In Booking it's said that rooms have a balcony with view to the sea and to the "Alcazaba", but in fact that it's not the reality: they have many rooms with no view at all. My reservation in this hotel was made just because it was meant I’ll have a balcony with view to the sea, and that was not what happened: they give a room with no view at all, and they said that it was impossible to change me to another room. The decoration of rooms is very old.
Near old city and restaurants
car parking an issue
Very good location
Breakfast was minimal for chose only scrambled eggs. Did not replenish.
