Well located within 2-3 blocks fron the Prado, walking distance (1/2 mi.) to Atocha Sta. Further to Plaza Mayor and Palacio Real. We hiked it, but metro and cabs are readily available. Several tapas bars within a couple of blocks which were fun. Quiet side street w/ small balcony over sidewalk. We were there in Nov., And it would obviously be busier in high season.

We were recommended this hotel by friends who had stayed there and it was just as they said. The location for the museums was excellent, it was near Atocha for a train trip to Toledo, not far to the underground and in spring or summer it would be ideally located for the Retiro park. In the street behind the hotel there wee plenty of places to eat and drink without having to go further after a strenuous day of sight- seeing. The price fot a 4star hotel in a major city was excellent.

Fine hotel right 2m walk from the Prado Museum. We had a tremendous stay: Room was tidy, towels and linen clean, and the bed slept perfect. I asked in the booking special request field for a room up high and a double bed, and got it. We also requested a bottle at the room which was neatly there! My compliments for the staff. All the mentions about grumpy staff in the booking.com comment section are not true, as long as you try some spanish the staff is very helpful and friendly. An international hotel management school alumnus Not a formal complaint but a mentioning: The room wasn't noisy at all, we were on the backside overlooking a patio. There was no outside noise, but you can hear your neighbor taking a shower. It's nothing much; I'm a light sleeper and it didn't wake me up.

Staff very nice and polite but lacking information and training.. It was difficult to receive answers to quite simple questions about Madrid card,Museum card, tickets for the city bus and for tours etc,We were given different answers..by several staff members who were trying to help but had not be prepared to do it. All the booklets and forms were in the hotel but the staff did not seem to be able to use them.LOCATION Excellent but part of the street is very dirty with garbage bins broken with the content blocking the sidewalk.

Free bottled water is a real help! Some of staff are very helpful. There is a horrible sewer gas smell in the corridors and stairwell that never goes away. We held our breaths in racing to the room. There were no shelves or drawers so that we could empty our luggage. This made our 5 night stay very challenging without begin able to find our things easily. Like many hotels in Spain, the air conditioner is slow to cool. Sadly, there was no great coffee that Spain is known for. Coffee is all machine delivered, which was a real disapointment. There weren't enough power outlets to plug phones other things, and hard to tell when leaving the room or turning off lights would turn off the power outlets. A challenge to deal with it all.

It is a simple, efficiently run, well maintained hotel. There are no distractions. The location is ideal for many reasons. The room pricing for multiple days at multiple prices is mystifying.

I liked everything durning my stay in room 203. It gave me a great chance to see a little of Madrid while having an affordable place to stay. I was really thrilled as to your free baggage as I was off 3 to 4 weeks on the Camino de Santiago. What a livesaver. My wife will be comming into Madrid and we will need a room for two days. We will heed a reservation for 3 nights starting on the 27th, 28th, and the 30th of September,2011. I will go to the websight to cofirm. Thanks a lot! Steve Schmitt. Sonoita, Arizona

The hotel is well located and the room was clean and comfortable. The street is quiet and the staff very welcoming. It is a well run unassuming hotel. Breakfast was good apart from the machine coffee which we avoided after the first day.

The room was a nice size and very comfortable. The bed and pillow were great. The shower was excellent. A few things needed fixing and the staff got around to it right away- really good. I'm a later riser and the maid service always made up my room even though I didn't really expect it due to my relaxed daily schedule. I had a great stay and the staff was extremely helpful. I initially had a room on the street side. The rooms are overly warm (wintertime) and if you open the window, then the noise is loud. They changed me to a room on the interior and it was much better. The other thing I didn't like has to do with booking.com. They make the prices look like there's only 1 room left, when in reality there are still plenty of rooms and if you wait you can often get one for a lower price.

Pillows and information about the Spanish writer Lope de Vega, since each room had a short description of a person or place related to his life. The room was small for 4 star hotel.

The location & Wi-Fi in the room were the main reason for choosing this hotel. Rooms a little dated but comfortable enough for a short stay.

This hotel has wooden floors so it is very noisy in winter when guests are wearing heavy shoes. It is possibly quieter in the summer when softer footwear is generally worn.

Fantastic location and a tremendous find in the "value for money" category. Staff were very helpful and service oriented. It is an easy walk to everything that you would like to see in Madrid, particularly the museums. We would definitely stay there again when in Madrid.

The hotel is ideally placed for visits to the Prado, the Thyssen Collection, the Reina Sofia museum and the Caixa Forum. All these places can be reached in 5 to 10 minutes on foot. Good bufet breakfast, though a bit pricey. We would certainly go there again.
