A gem of an hotel.
Not a problem for me, but the Cathedral bells do toll!
location, location, location.
The title explains it all. There are small things that don't make this a good hotel, starting with the slippery marble bathroom floors, and hand held shower. No breakfast information other than the waiter asking what you want. No listing of phone numbers or TV channel information ( no English channels). No parking close by.
The bathroom was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable. Overall it was a memorable stay. Manuel ----austin
beautiful building right next to Cathedral. Family operated and owned. They take care of their guests. We stayed in a clean and spacious apartment. Great breakfast and espresso.
Rental apartments are not cleaned daily but the rooms in the hotel are.
Ambience and furnishing of hotel.
No fridge, no English language tv channel.
The Owner came out and guided us to the hotel, helped us with our luggage, and gave us a local parking pass so we could park close. Someone spent a fortune on restoring this hotel, every where you looked in your room it was as if Cleopatra decorated, Top Draw!
The streets leading to it are confusing if you are not familiar with the area.
hotel very quirky, lovely location all those alleys and steps never went the same way twice, staff friendly and helpful.
thought there could have been four mugs and four coffee cups in the apartment
We liked the helpful owner, the quirkiness of the old building, the lovely balcony to stand on. We loved the views out from the Cathedral just down the road.
Be warned that it is on the top of a VERY steep hill. Don't go if you don't like climbing steps. Don't go if church bells bother you. We didn't mind either.
Wonderful position next to Cathedral. Very good breakfast, personal service.
Impossible to find without instructions.
The decor was fabulous and rooms very comfortable. The location couldn't be better!
The building, and especially my room and bath, were just lovely. The old charm of the building was very successfully matched with modern comfort. Breakfast was excellent. The city walls and all other places worth seeing were just minutes away.
Since the hotel is "next door" to the Cathedral, there was a lot of noise from the church bells. You definitely need ear plugs to sleep.
Hotel is a very nicely restored medieval building, lots of designer touches and lovely bathroom. Fridge in room is useful.
The bells, the bells NEVER STOP ringing - day and night - on the quarter hour, half hour and on the hour, they really go to town. I found it impossible to sleep here - double glazing makes little difference. I was tempted to check out after the first night due to the bells. We always love Old Towns and always want to stay there but the location of this hotel right (beside the Cathedral and other Churches) is up very very steep hills, which we found very difficult to climb. You are not inclined to pop out and back several times a day - due to that climb up. We also didn't like that bars / restaurants , close by hotel all closed up around 11 pm. However, we actually found that the new town is ' where the locals go ' and was much nicer in every way - not jammed and packed with tourists
Beautiful location next to the cathedral in the old town. We had a two bedroomed apartment which was excellent value for money.
The noise of the cathedral bells chiming throughout the night made it very difficult to sleep.
The location is central, within easy walking distance of all the main tourist sites. The two bedroom apartment was very spacious and clean. The fans that were provided were very welcome.
loved the location. Rooms a very good standare. Very helpful staff.
The Bells, rung out every quarter of the hour, all day and all night
Great location and excellent space...fantastically modern remodeled ancient stone building. Immaculate! Best location with excellent 2 bedroom apartment suites.
Extremely hard to find your first time you visit Girona. Best advice...really pay attention - don't even think about walking with luggage from the train station. Already made that mistake, got lost...really easy to do your first day or two and dragged wheeled bags on cobblestone streets for over 1.5 hrs...ps: don't bother asking locals for directions, even they don't know where it is!
good location and breakfast
The hotel is centrally located in the historic quarter and all attractions are within easy walking distance. The owner of the hotel is extremely friendly and very helpful giving excellent tips for places to visit. We stayed in a two bed roomed apartment which was lovely and spacious and very clean. It is not air conditioned but two big fans are provided in the bedrooms.
It can be difficult to find the hotel, even our taxi driver couldn't find it. However the hotel provided clear instructions on the phone of how to get there to the driver.
The situation, as the name suggests is within the old city. The room, decorated and furnished appropriate to the name and very clean and comfortable.
No tea or coffee making facilities
Owner gives personal attention to your needs. Helped find a parking place nearby. The place is a short walk to all sights in Girona.
A bit difficult to find and drive to.
Lovely location in the historic center of town. Very thoughtfully restored hotel. Parking was available nearby with hotel provided pass in designated areas.
Lovely hotel, spotless and very comfortable. Great co-operation with bikes!
Incredible location near the cathedral; room was spotless, well designed and huge; service was brisk, very knowledgable and friendly -- plus a family-owned operation (they work incredibly hard).
More options at breakfast would be nice but food was good.
The location was fantastic in a beautiful old building near all the main sites, restaurants and bars. Pleasant and helpful owners. The flat suited us very well as they had desks so our teenage sons had a place to study. Comfy beds
No balcony.Being woken up by the noise of the Cathedral bells during the night. The sparsely equipped kitchen could have done with a few basics dish drainer tea towel coffee maker more glasses and plates etc.
