Very nice small hotel with welcoming owners. Super breakfast and good evening meals. Would be happy to stay again.
We chose this hotel based on its score and reviews for a short stay to visit a restaurant in a nearby village and we endorse previous guests comments. The building itself is tastefully restored and decorated in traditional rural style and our 'superior' double room was spacious and very comfortable. Davinia and Raúl made us most welcome and were a mine of local information, we had no idea that the village had an important ongoing project to excavate and reconstruct an Iberican village, an excellent museum and a large well preserved Roman Villa. A 3 hour personal guided tour of these attractions from the Tourist Information office was less than €12 with the hotel discount. The owners source local organic produce for their kitchen and make their own embutidos, bread, preserves and cakes which are truly delicious. Breakfasts are a delight!
The only minor issue was the lack of a decent standard lamp so one could read or sew whilst sitting in the armchairs. The owners promised to address this promptly as others had mentioned it.
a special "thank you" to Davinia and Raul for a wonderful stay in a very nice place.... we are enjoying the olive oil...
Hosts are very committed to the well-being of their guests. The rooms are impeccably clean and tastefully designed. Everything works well and is thought through, from the window handle to the shower. Breakfast is way above average. The house itself is very beautiful.
For a tranquility fetishist like myself all rooms being out to the street is not an ideal situation. However, most people probably would not care. Also, my suggestion would be to add a bit of light to the front room and the reception area ... just a thought ...
Quietness. Spacious public rooms, staircases & corridors. The warm, friendly welcome & continuous attentiveness. Clean, well presented room. The breakfasts & dinners,home-made foodstuffs.
Insufficient lighting in the room - difficult to read. No dressing-table mirror. No "grab-handle" in the bath/shower.
Beautiful house near Priego de Cordoba. Very clean. Large bedroom. Fantastic views from the house and the pool. Perfect breakfast, 4-courses with fresh orange-juice and great coffee. Also very good diner. Romantic hotel! Great owners who make your stay unforgettable.
Loved the location, small touches in the room with mineral water and chocolates. Excellent breakfast including homemade jams, hams, locally sourced produce. Comfortable beds and beautiful views from the window. The pool area was a bonus.
The whole experience from the minute we arrived. We were greeted by Davinia who spent time showing us the maps of local areas of interest and gave us refreshing cold drink. breakfast which was included in the price was exceptional. All fresh local organic produce . We ate in the hotel each night and again food was exceptional freshly prepared by Raul. Both Davinia and Raul were a delight and their passion for the local food oil and wine was fab. They took us around a local olive oil production cooperative which was fascinating
Nothing to dislike
One of the best stays we experienced in Spain. Everything was just perfect. Davinia and Raoul are such great hosts and they are looking after you. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Great night sleep and the surroundings are very quiet. We loved the food and had dinner twice there. The organic and homemade range is very delightful and reasonable, no need to go out for dinner. The first night we had the best homemade paella with beautiful wine. We would have loved to stay longer and can only recommend the place and food. We will definitely come back.
charm, décor, staff, room, pool
not enough outdoor seating, pool chairs were not comfortable, no table and chairs by pool, pool chairs not adjustable, awkward seating for a lovely space
Lovely people who would do anything to make your stay special. Happy with veggie cyclist.
Nothing to dislike, although took a while to find the place as we were directed all over town, but not hotel problem.
Our superb hosts had put so much thought in to every detail of their tastefully restored hotel...charming welcome, delicious locally sourced food & wine, high quality decoration including handmade tiles and sumptuous fabrics in mellow colours....it was a delight. We were charmed by the candles on each stair that lit us to bed after a wonderful supper on the terrace. With its pretty pool and tranquil setting it was a real gem.
We chose this hotel as a relaxing overnight stay in between visits to Granada and Ronda. It was a great decision - the house has been renovated to a very high standard, the rooms are all individual, beautifully and simply designed. We particularly loved the lanterns which line the staircase and are lit at night to guide you to bed! The food was exceptional, and was locally produced, as was the wine - and the view from the terrace was wonderful as the sun went down. Lavinia and Raoul were so friendly and very happy to suggest places to visit during our stay. We would definitely recommend this hotel!
The experience was so wonderful and mirrored all the positive comments made by other guests. We would recommend planning your travel around staying here even if it meant going out of your way. Absolutely the best stay we have had anywhere in the world!
Davinia and Raoul the hosts have done an excellent job retrofitting this cortijo. from organic cooking, fresh homemade items (sausage, honey, yogurt) their attention to detail makes your stay an unforgetable experience. I can understand Now why their ratings are 9.5. A solid from us for this stay, can not wait to return again!!
The whole experience was wonderful. The couple who run the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful, really taking their time to make us welcome. The dinner and breakfast were truly out of this world - absolutely delicious, home-made, local, very good value. Lovely wines and olive oils. The building is beautiful and has been decorated in great style. It was one of the nicest and most memorable places we have stayed in and we very much plan to visit again for longer.
Lovely place to relax, with fantastic view and good location to visit nearby sights. Breakfast and dinner are nice and fresh, hosts are lovely. Overall something to remember and recommend if you want to just chill and relax. If you are looking for over the top luxury, don't go there.
Raoul and Lavinia do everything possible - and more - to make one's stay enjoyable. The property has been beautifully renovated, the couple are so welcoming and all the tiny details are there - fresh flowers, chocolates and a little word in one's particular language. The food is excellent - they resource local wine and produce. We recommend this rural hotel to everyone. In addition, the small town has interesting visits to a Roman villa, museum and the ruins of an Iberian settlement.
The fact that we only stayed one night!
The problem with a hidden gem is that it's a struggle for the owners and Davinia and Raoul deserve every success. The freshest of food is on offer and good local wine. Loved the poetry stencilled on the bedroom walls. The place has charm!
I sat out on the terrace to eat to enjoy the views, but the children playing nearby was a bit intrusive.
The house is simply but exquisitely decorated in Andalucian country style. The rooms are large and equally well-decorated as are the bathrooms. The food was absolutely exceptional and prepared by the owner and her son. I have eaten lots of great food and my dinner and breakfast were outstandingly fresh and classic Andalucian style. My hosts, Raul and Divinia, are the finest of folk and were very patient with my rudimentary Spanish skills. I even told them I wanted to stay there the remainder of my 26 days in Andalucia. I will be back!
I can be fussy. This place didn't have a damn thing wrong with it in any way.
Everything was just perfect, the room, the hosts, the food. You should not miss the opportunity to have dinner at La Hospederia - slow and organic food, very, very delicious.
