Fantastic location, very friendly staff, Ignazio was so helpful despite our very poor Spanish. Excellent!
Excellent value for money! The staff were very pleasant, the breakfast was great, the room was very comfortable and the whole hostel was very tastefully decorated. Brilliant!
We Love this little hotel. The room is lovely and the location perfect. It's so nice to eat a simple breakfast of coffee, toast, and fresh orange juice in the salon. But the best is the people who work in the hotel, they are terrific.
Can not think of a thing I didn't like
Nice people at front desk. Clean and in a good location.
I was very satisfied with my staying at the hostal Altamar. The hostal is located in the old town. I liked the location, because there are a lot of (tapas) bars and different shops. The staff is correct, comfortable room was cleaned every day. For a very reasonable price that I paid, I have no complaints. I recommend to all who want/need pleasant accommodation.
Parking near the hotel is not possible (the old town), but there is within walking distance (approx. 5 minutes) public free parking (next to Estadio Municipal de Deportes), so I did not have parking problems. During my stay was not particularly hot, so I did not need an air conditioning in the room, which otherwise cost an additional 6 EUR / day. The Wi-Fi signal is weak and the connection is interrupeted approx. every 2 minutes. I don't understand why this should be a problem nowdays (june 2014).
Helpful Staff Arrived middle of night and no problem. I know Almunecar so found Hostel easily. Breakfast good and place had a comfortable cosy feeling. Nice place to stay on my own. All spoke good English too
My particular room was over the entrance and general public seemed to like sitting on steps smoking which drifted through open window. Small point however
€30 a night (in May) for a reasonably sized and very clean room in the centre of the pueblo. Ignacio, the owner was great and very helpful - he gave us some great recommendations of were to 'tapear' etc without us even having to ask (it's a good idea to email him for details of where to park before you set off). People who are giving this hostal a bad review are cheapskate snobs. For this modest price, you needn't expect a gravel drive leading up to a stately home full of palacial suites with sea views and pillow menus! It's clean, well situated and friendly - that's enough to ask for at this price.
The bed was a bit "noisy" but, for once in my life, the noise was emanating from my bed rather than coming as a painful reminder from my neighbours' room; so I ain't complaining! There was no sign of a wi-fi connection but, as alluded to above, I wasn't wasting my time browsing so so again, no complaints.
The cost was very reasonable for a single room with ensuite. Breakfast at nominal charge. Helpful staff.
Hard to locate the first couple of times, largely because Almunecar is the worst town I´ve encountered in Spain for not displaying street names. Very frustrating!
we stayed in a double room for just one night in this small nice and coloured hostel and we will consider it again in the future for short or longer stay. the price was incredibly cheap (kind of cheaper than a camping) and the room was big, clean, not so light but who cares (we had only to shower and sleep). the breakfast room is nice and warm, I liked its familiar and relaxed atmosphere. the position is good by walking, it was pretty hard to park the car in the surroundings but it worths the effort!
Everything was perfect, rooms, cleaning, location..
Only Wifi connection was not very good in hostel..
A very "Spanish" feel. Friendly welcome, excellent value for money. Great location for beach, town and restaurants. Coffee, snacks and freshly-squeezed OJ available at reasonable cost. Cleaned daily, open all hours.
Very noisy area. Lots of activity in street outside, thin walls, very loud music nearby made it impossible to sleep until late, although then it was very quiet until mid-morning.
Quality price ratio was excellent Service and cortesy very high Very cheap for buy inside the hotel
Only one but very bad... noise from the street
The hotel is well situated: 5 minutes from San Cristobal beach. For a fair amount of money I had a room with air conditioning.
The shower is outdated. The shower cabin could have been good for the eigthies but not for today.
The room was clean and spacious with a small balcony. The hostal itself was right in the centre and very close to the beach. It was also really reasonable for drinks etc e.g. a big water bottle was 1 euro and you could get one at any time of the night.
The only negative was that it was a little bit noisy. This isn't the hostals fault, the notice came from the street outside our balcony. It was by no means unbearable though and wouldn't put me off staying again.
