Location is excellent. Hotel is refurbished and looks fresh. Amenities are good. Staff is helpful and charming. Rooms are clean (toilets could be cleaner). They keep your luggage for as long as you want to keep it there.
The windows in some rooms don't open out to the open but to a wall a few feet away, that gives a claustrophobic feeling, but then that's not a big problem. I saw some rooms that open to the street, and some that open to a bigger backyard, so i suppose one can choose.
Stuff is so friendly. Everyday clean room and decoration amazing. Just like an 3 star hotal not a hostal. Great room design. There are everything you need. Location is the best with this price. We walked eveywhere. Absolutely we will stay again our next visit.
Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.
The location was excellent. The staff was very helpfull. Rooms were big enough. Everything was clean. The area is loud in the night, but rooms facing the inner yard of the building are quiet.
The entrance its a little difficult to find, because they share the building with other guesthouses. No breakfast, but there is a very cheap restaurant right next to the hotel.
Location is perfect and staff so friendly and helpful! They had always time to answer our questions and give tips. Rooms are cute and clean with modern bathroom. The sliding door between the room and bathroom is something I have never seen before. :) Such a lovely small hotel and absolutely worth of the price! I would definitely stay at this hotel again!
We didn't have a room with a balcony (we saw some and they were lovely!) but with a view to not so nice inner court..
Surprisingly clean and fresh - everything you need esp for an overnight stay. Great location, walk to many attractions, bars, restaurants, squares, monuments. Front desk staff( esp. Nico) very helpful. Recommend the free guided walking tour - 3 hours - learned and saw so much.
That we couldn't stay longer!
actually I stayed in here app. one month ago but finally had a chance to write a comment. Really I would like to thank every staff working in here made our trip excellent. Especially Rosa from reception was amazing . Even after we checked out she surprised us by giving some free chocolates and made us more happier. Definitely I can recommend this place more than once to everyone. Also I have to mention that even it says it is hostal but it was more comfortable than other some boutique hotels as well.
Very Clean, very good location, excellent value for money, friendly staff.
Noisy on saturday night, but even with the noise it worthed every penny.
Very central, great price & most comfortable hotel bed I've stayed in for a long time. I had the large room with the terrace & it made the room appear Vlarge & comfortable. Staff couldn't do enough for me.
I don't think there is a night time concierge which wasn't a problem for me, but if I had an issue that may have been a problem
This hotel was one of excellent hotels we ever stayed. Clean and comfortable just like a 4-5 star hotel with lovely and kind manager and staffs. Very cheap price for what you get. We had requested an early check-in at 8 am and the manager was waiting for us at the hotel to check us in with no extra charge. Very helpful and kind lady. The room and bed are very comfortable with a large flat screen with many free entertainment channels ( hardly can get good free entertainment channels in europ)
It would be nice if there was an electric kettle in the room to make some tea or coffee.
Owners were very nice and despite the slight language gap given they spoke very little English and we spoke no Spanish, nothing that hand gestures and smiles couldn't deal with. Small sign so can be difficult to find first time, but good location. Walking distance to most sights and close to a couple of metro stops. Clean hotel. Good wifi. Lots of eating and drinking places on doorstep and glorious square to hang out in 50m away. Hard to find somewhere reasonably priced in Madrid but we weren't disappointed with this place.
Staff was very helpful with maps, directions, and even needle and thread. Some street noise, but this is Spain, where even children are up late. It was not excessive and died down after midnight.
Dust because of renovations
location Very well decorated and had that personal touch Very pleasant staff
Clean beautiful hotel, with a low price situated in the heart of Madrid. The staff was very helpful.
Very convenient location and near to the Sol.
Location, it is 2 min to Plaza de Sol and 2 min to Plaza santa Ana on foot. In a live alley. Modern decoration. Cleanliness, they set the room everyday. It has a safe box. Big flat TV, with the Disney channel !! Very helpful staff. They recommended us lots of places to go including restaurants, cafes, museum, flamencos and landmarks.
The pillows were very big and my wife could not sleep at the first night. The streetside rooms are not quiet and the other rooms do not have any veiw, enough daylight and fresh air. Our room was very stuffy. Thankfully there is an air conditioning system. There is no bidet in the bathroom. The biggest problem was parking lot. The tariff of parking near the hostal is about 32 €/day. The suggested parking lot by the hostal (8€/day) is really far. We had to come back to the hostal by metro and during our stay we did not use our car.
Nico was our first and last point of contact. And was absolutely amazing. We got lost trying to find the hotel as it is a little tricky getting there but he guided us and help as much as possible ober the phone and even help with our luggage. Recommended loads of stuff to do. Thanks Rico. rooms are specious clean amd very very central. we had a no noise complaint. wifi was a tad slow at times. But worked fine. definitely recommend the hotel. Easy to deal with.
Slow net at times, and hard to find
very good and nice service new and clean instalation city center location
Staff were lovely, one lady speaks good English and was VERY helpful & very lovely the other lady that didn't was also very lovely. Room is nice, bed very comfortable, great location, clean, good bathroom.
Only thing is, not much English is spoken in the close vicinities, so hard as a non Spanish speaker to know the menu at times, but that's too be expected and you still can get by.
The price is outstanding according to the quality
The wi-fi is no good
Very nice hotel. The room was very nice, clean (they cleaned it every day) and the furniture and the bathroom were new. The room was very silent and well conditionated. The staff is a very nice one, they’re always available for help their guests and for giving them precious advices and suggestions. The hotel is very well located: 5’ from Plaza de la Puerta del Sol and 10’ to Plaza Mayor. Moreover it’s very well served by the metro and in the nearby there are a lot of restaurants and nice places where you can eat and spend the evening.
terrible wifi hard to find on the street, should have a better sign
It was clean, friendly, furnished beautifully. Excellent stay in a good location. Staff were very helpful!
We lived in a room overlooking the interior of the house, in a room with a terrace. quiet! Highly pure, pleasant, pleasing design, air conditioning worked very well. The terrace is quite large and furnished. The terrace fenced on all sides. But the sky is yours! We liked it. Opportunity to drink tea into the room to do this place perfect! All in all a very nice price / quality ratio
We stayed in Hostal Atelier at the first and at the last night of our 3-weeks journey through Spain. In the entirety of all selected hotels and hostels of this holiday, Hostal Atelier offers the best value for money! Half July we paid for a twin room with attached bathroom 52,65 € and on 4 August we paid 47,49 €. Unbeatable prices! And this for a very clean and comfortable room with a good functioning AC, a perfectly equipped bathroom and a friendly welcome in the center of the Spanish capital. The young lady (I guess the daughter) speaks English). A short walk to metro stations Sol and Sevilla. Around the corner you have Plaza Santana with its restaurants. There's no breakfast in the hostal but downstairs, next door, you can have the usual Spanish breakfasts. Although located in the entertainment district of Madrid, it's very quiet in the hostal. Ask for a quiet room when booking. If I'm not mistaken, there are only two rooms along the street side. We had room N° 3 (very quiet). I hope that this hostal can maintain its prices. Next time I go to Madrid, I'd like to stay there again. Our view is certainly also based on the experiences we had in other hotels/hostals during the three-week tour in Spain.
