Room facilities, comfortable, internet WIFI is simply awesome. Many food shops outside the hotel
Location was great, staff friendly. Bed was really comfortable.Room was clean I was on a budget holiday and this was value for money. I was offered an up grade for extra money as they were upgrading hostel, but chose not to. builders did not disturb us while we were there.
The safe in the room was 1 euro each time you used it. This was annoying as it meant if you wanted to leave something in the safe rather than take it out in the evening, it cost more money.
Location was brilliant; just steps away from the Atocha Train station, and adjacent to the Reina Sofia museum and walking distance to the Prado.
The room was very tight. Fortunately I was alone with little luggage, but a couple with more than one suitcase would be hard pressed to move around the room.

Conveniently located very close to the train station. We booked for that reason because we were getting an early train to Seville. We were in a double room which had been recently refurbished but being so small there was nowhere to put our suitcases. The lift was very small and we could only just get in with our two large suitcases. The reception area is small and grubby. I would not stay here again as I feel this hostel would be more suitable for younger travellers/backpackers on a tight budget. I had booked a single room for a companion traveller. he was so disgusted with his room he booked out and found a hotel a short distance away.
Not a lot! Our room was OK for one night, but the way the room has been photographed it appears to look bigger than it actually is. At least it was clean!
Truly enjoyed our stay at Buelta Hostal just off Atocha across from train station. Our room was on the older side, but quite nice, ensuite, roomy w/2 big beds, desk plus balcony overlooking Atocha St. & Buen Retiro Park. Location is fabulous! Reina Sofia Museum is just a 30 second walk. Literally behind hotel in the plaza. Also Prado is a lovely 4 minute walk along Buen Retiro park. Points to highlight include the staff. Especially, Alejandro who is consistently pleasant and goes out of his way to make ones stay better. Plenty of food options near both fast food; Macs. B. King, Star Bucks plus local fare. Toiletries included, elevator, plenty of hot water, free wifi plus metro station steps away. We will definitely stay here on our next visit to Madrid. Highly recommend for the price, location and treatment of staff!
Proximity -- walking distance to Atocha
Friendly staff Near subway station
Very noisy in October 12, because of the national holiday
Very central. Good price.
Hotel is desperately in need of renovation, but this work has already started and some rooms have been completed. Our room was not one.
The location can't be beat being just a couple hundred meters from Atocha train station. New towels. Nice staff.
Don't be fooled by the pics you'll see in the ads. Those rooms are few and much more expensive. Two years ago this hotel was a cash-only no-reservations backpackers hotel. This is a 19th century hotel slowly trying to ease into the 21 century. Small small TV. One shared plug with the lamp in the bedroom. Tiny tiny rooms.
There was always someone at the desk. They tried to help but the success of their help is open to argue. It is close the main train station and some museums. Well, if there is not a construction might be fair price for accomodation.
There was construction which started at 8 o'clock. It was incredible. The rooms which are looking to the main street is also very noisy. There was some room pictures at the desk which have never seen! In the all corridor, it is like you are all staying together in a single hall. Sleeping and some rest after you get tired from being a tourist, is not possible. the third day we complained about the construction, they apologised and stopped but it did not help the other day. Also dust was in the room, on every thing. It would be a better way to do this when it was not a hot tourism season.
First night we were given an upgrade to one of the new rooms. This room is great, very new and confortable. Unfurtunatly it is 15 euros more expensive, so the next day we were moved to a regular room. The regular one was very old, bedroom was small and old. All the Hotel is beeing refurbished, so check before booking.
Old Room, small elevator.
It was convenient to everything we wanted use and do. The Hop-on, Hop-off bus stop was close, the express bus from the airport goes the the metro terminal (can't remember the name) which is within a block and only cost 5 euros, museums are nearby. It was a short walk to Plaza Mayor, etc., etc.
If I said anything here it would e nit-picking! Excellent value for the money, although we did do the upgrade so I didn't see the standard rooms.
newly renovated rooms. next to atocha and retiro.
ongoing renovation (should be finished shortly). some street noise, when windows open.
Our room was very recently remodeled and was therefore perfect. Very clean and modern interior with touch panel air con controls and rain showers. The hotel is also perfectly located next to the Reina Sofia museum, Atocha metro and train stations, and much more. Very recommended!
Very good location - near railway station Atocha and city center (museum Prado is only 5-10 minutes to walk). Near a lot of cafes and restaurants. Small balcony is very nice with good view on street. Price was extremely attractive! Staff was very nice and friendly.
To switch on/off light was in corridor - it's strange.
Good quality bed, spacious, friendly helpful staff.
Air con not working, tiny waste paper bin.
location free good wifi
Hostal was in the centrum of Madrid, new reconstructed room, clean.
Oposite restaurant, where breakfasts are served - they speak only Spanish and they are not helpful.
Location location location! Great for Atocha station and airport bus. But mostly for the main art galleries.
Summertime noises from the outside restaurant seating. People eat very late in Spain! Probably be better with an interior room.
Being just across the street from Atocha Station, the location of the hostal makes it a pretty good choice for those who are just looking for a place to crash for a night before leaving early the next morning to catch a train.
Shower was terrible, bed was a little rough.
This place is so close to the main train station didn't have get up early and rush, we walk across the road in 5min. Great tapas place to eat also near by, the bed was so comfy good sleep
Located right next to Atocha train station which was very convenient
Hotel is on a very loud, busy street making it very difficult to sleep. No air conditioner, just a small fan
excellent location. smooth wifi.
the room facing the street is extremely noisy. no air conditioner. the other side of the hostel is under construction.
