Not so clean
The one member of staff we met was excellent. Lots of space. Comfy beds. Good location.
Good location, friendly and helpful staff, and beautiful ceilings.
Our front of the building room was very noisy with the sounds from busy street below echoing up all night. Lots of traffic and people talking. Double glazing did not work. We did not sleep well. We asked twice to be moved but this did not seem possible. The room was tiny with not much storage space provided.
cleanliness, ac, good shower, pleasant environment excellent location
I loved everything about the Hostal Eden - location, friendly staff speaking several languages, cleanliness, rooms and beautiful ceilings! The stuff quickly answered all my emails when I had some questions. Great value for money!
No cups and kettle in some rooms. There was a builing site just in front of the hotel so it might be noisy for some guests - but anyway for me it was ok cause my windows faced the patio.
The Location of the Hostal is just great! The personnel is friendly and they listen to you if you got a problem with something.
I didn't like that they don't clean the rooms well. If you leave some sweets opened or in the bin, it can happen pretty quickly that you have lots of insects inside your room, but especially in the bathroom. At night there's lot of noise. You can hear cars and the tv of your neigbours, and you hear every single time they go to the toilet. The worst noise is, when drunken teenagers/habitants start to scream on the balconies. I reccomend this Hostal only to young people that go out to see Barcelona all day long and only come back to sleep.
Room was very tiny, view from window was to the next door room. Haven't seen so small tv in my life.
The staff was very nice and helpful tho they spoke very little or very bad English. The location was alright due to the price we payed for four nights. Took only about 5-10 minutes to reach plaza de catalunya and la rambla.
The room we got was awful. The size of the room was probably 7 m2 the most and within this area the staff has placed a bed (120cm), a desk, a chair and one closet so there was no space for me and my boyfriend to move around. The bathroom had no proper door to close and we lacked a refrigerator in the bedroom even tho the staff told us there would be one. We had no proper light either, except some lamps in the room.
Strategic position and the best relation Price/Quality in the city with a bathroom included
If you are near the reception noise of the bell to open the outside door at avery hour of day and night
Reservation was all in order and it was great value for a central location in Barcelona. As a place to sleep it was fine, with cafes & restaurants nearby for breakfast & dinner.
My room was next to reception and I could hear the entry buzzer every time someone wanted to enter the building, which was a pain. Also my room faced an internal light-well, so it was very dingy (but quiet apart from the buzzer).
I liked the location.
My first room I could hardly breeze, think it had been just painted a day or two ago. I ask for another room and after a two hour wait for it to be cleaned, I go it. Even had a balcony.
the rooms were very noisy
Great location, only 2 blocks to Passeig de Gracia train and metro station; about 15 minutes by foot to Rambla. Quite safe district. Very helpfull staff - offered us key from elevator, provided information about trains timetable etc. Small supermarket right accross the street is opened 24 hours. Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. Room was clean with basic accesories and spaciuos bathroom. We had even small refrigerator and kettle in our room. Since our room faced inner courtyard it was very silent at night. All in all we found this hotel to be good value for money. We will definitely stay there again if we decide to visit Barcelona again.
There were some ants in bathroom. You need special key to use elevator, otherwise You need to use quite steep staircase. It may be problem for senior guests. In fact man in reception offered us key from elevator when he noticed elderly lady in our company. No cups in room, so presence of kettle seems a bit useless, however man in reception gave us some plastic cups when we asked.
The hostel was extremely noisy. Not good for elderly visitors.
I stayed at the Eden for 1 night in December 2013.The hotel,by its appearance, was an old property which has been extensively renovated.Access to it was gained by pressing a button on the front door.A creaky old lift whined and clanked its way to all floors. The reception was on the first floor. My room,on the second, was large and comfortable and came with a rather cramped en-suite. It was clean. The Eden is situated about 600 metres from the Plaza de Catalunya. There is a few bars in the immediate vicinity, the closest of which, seventoseven, serves reasonably priced drinks and meals.
There are two things which I did not like about the Eden. The first was that I had to press a button to gain entry and the second was that it is on anextremely busy street. As the soundproofing leaves a great deal to be desired, the NOISE LEVEL, (and I write these words in capital letters,to emphasise their meaning) is VERY HIGH.Bring some ear-plugs,if you want to sleep!!!
.The uncomfy beds and noise from outside
Only the location.
Uncomfortable squeeky bed, noisy surroundings, shabby place, balcony door without lock although adjoining next room, no facilities whatsoever.
Location -- 2 block from Gaudi Casa Batllo on Paseig de Gracia, 6 blocks to Plaza Catalunya. Cleaning lady was very nice and gave me extra towels.
Do not book this hostal or you will be sorry! Everything -- hostel and room were dirty, noisy, smoky, crowded. Light fixture above one bed was broken. Water from shower went onto floor, leaked into room and it appears had been doing this for a very long because even the exterior room door was ragged and warped at the bottom. Elevator was finicky and one had to use a key to operate it. Very very unfriendly staff. Wifi worked in halls but we were told it was operable only in the so-called business center which was a chair in the reception area. I travel to Europe every fall for 2-3 months (uk, Italy, France, Spain) and this is by far the worst accommodation experience I have had. Booking.com should remove Hostal Eden from its listings -- it is a disgrace!!!
The staff in Hostal Eden simply told us to go to a different hostal, with no explanations.
When we arrived, they told us to go to a different hostal 200 meters away. The rooms in the other hostal were good, but they were of lower quality, and they didn't look like the rooms in the announcement of hostal Eden. We felt a bit cheated. Also, the drink machine made a lot of noise during the night. Also, the new hostal was further away from Catalonia square.
Blizu centra, odlično za kratke boravke.
We liked the fact that we had access to the outside via a small balcony - this was great especially as our room was so tiny. The art/graffiti/mural on the wall gave a unique feel to our room. Can we just add that although the staff were quite friendly, their local knowledge was not good & we do feel that reception staff should try to do whatever they can to help & advise their guests in the best way possible. This is not a negative or a positive - just an observation.
Very squeaky uncomfortable bed :-( it squeaked even if we thought about moving! Our bathroom was actually bigger than our bedroom, which was quite strange. Very busy noisy street (traffic) even with the balcony doors closed & the building next door was being renovated so there was a lot of drilling going on - but this is city life so we didn't let it bother us too much.
The location of the hotel is excellent, the staff are helpful and the rooms although basic have everything necessary.
The room I stayed in being right next to reception was a bit noisy.
It doesn't look like much at first, but the venue has actually been a pleasant surprise. Staff seemed a little uncertain, but the room exceeded expectations. The place is clean, well-equipped, there are even baggage lockers available, and it's really just a few steps to the airport train and metro at Passeig de Gracia. I definitely recommend to those on a budget.
The place does have a certain undeserved gloomy air about it. The real issue, however, has been the elevator, which never ever seems to work.
