Set within Avila's Medieval walls, this recently renovated, 16th-century guesthouse boasts rustic charm and a fabulously authentic restaurant. The guesthouse's design remains faithful to the delightful architecture of the Rastro's original structure. This is all complemented by tasteful artwork, hardwood floors and rustic furniture. Dine in the charming, traditional restaurant which dates back to 1885. Enjoy dishes typical of the region and the period, set within the tavern-style dining room and next to an open fireplace. Hotel Rastro is ideally located near Avila's main sights. You can walk to the birthplace of Santa Teresa de Jesus and then learn about her amazing life in the adjacent museum. If you're a fan of "Rick Steves Europe" like me this is one of those discovery hotels that makes you feel like you've experienced Europe rather then just visited it. This is a smart, classy small hotel with enough modern conveniences to make your stay enjoyable. There's free wifi in the lobby and multilingual cable in the rooms. My room had high beamed ceilings with a spacious bathroom and a wood shuttered window overlooking the square. The attached, white tablecloth, restaurant is cozy, upscale and offers a discount to hotel guests. The location of the hotel was the major draw for me as it is just inside the 11th century city walls of this medieval city. The hotel is just one of the older buildings on a quiet square with limited street parking. Everything is within walking distance and there's plenty to see whether you're a photographer, history buff or shopper. The narrow streets keep traffic to a minimum making walking less harrowing and the experience more pleasant. The staff was warm, attractive and attentive. This is going to sound like nit-picking after the glowing review I've given them so far but is meant only to be helpful to the hotel and guests. It would be really nice if the free wifi could be extended to reach the guest rooms so we could all brag on our Facebook pages about the really cool place we're staying at without having to get dressed to go to the lobby. Luckily I had my 22 year old grandson with me to figure out how to get the English version of the cable tv shows by using the tv remote. A page in a multilingual welcoming folder with step by step instructions to get the various languages would be helpful. If they had a folder they could put in a map of the old town and it's top sites, hours and prices. A multilingual menu for the attached restaurant in the room would be useful. Like I said this is nit-picking but hopefully helpful.

Clean and comfortable with charming decor. Lovely setting inside the walls of medieval Avila. Staff helpful. Some staff non-English speaking so a little difficult to get information. Others helpful however.

El hotel muy bonito, mucho mejor de lo que esperábamos por el precio. La ubicación buenisima! En la habitación al entrar había un poco de olor como a viejo, pero nada alarmante.

El hostal estaba cerrado y no alojaron en el hotel. El hotel estaba muy bien ambientado (imagino por lo poco que nos asomamos al hostal que este también lo estaría). Estuvimos muy bien.

en general todo perfecto, bien situado, limpio, amplio, tranquilo.... por poner alguna pega, nos toco una habitación que estaba en la planta baja y cuando pasaban coches por el pavimento empedrado había un poco de ruido (pero muy poco).

Avevamo prenotato l'hostel ma per lavori in corso siamo stati spostati nel loro adiacente hotel senza sovrapprezzo. Camera nuova climatizzata, con bagno ampio; eccellenti la pulizia e qualità della camera. Da consigliare senza dubbio.

La ubicación,,las sábanas suaves,las toallas.,el baño. La luz de emergencia está justo enfrente de la cama,lo cual no me dejó dormir bien y la temperatura del agua caliente no se podía regular,,salia demasiado caliente.

El precio y la ubicación.Muy buen trato de la señorita de recepción. Demasiado calor en la habitación. Debías encender el aire acondicionado y hacía ruído por la noche Faltaba luz (daba a un patio de luces muy obscuro.
