The lady at the reception in the best and most hospitable person.. She fully compensates for the dated style of the accommodation.. The best location in Madrid for the price we paid. I'll stay again here.. Dated and can do a bit of modernasation but who cares we just used it for sleeping.

The lady on Reception was extremely helpful and considerate offering lots of advice. She is an asset to your business The bathrooms are just about acceptable but as a business traveller I need a fast connection and to have it in my room. For business travellers the internet is poor. I hope you will upgrade it quickly

Hostal Excelsior is very centrally situated, just next to Callao Metro Station. It is not a luxurious hotel, it is very basic, but is situated in a original Spanish early XX-century building (townhouse), the rooms are clean with wi-fi and balconies (some) = it's a good value for money. The staff was friendly and spoke English (which turned out to be very rare in Madrid as a whole) and let us choose the room we prefered by showing us 3 different before we could make our minds :) Some of the rooms have really tiny bathrooms. It was pretty loud at night (can't sleep with the window open) but this is the case with all Gran Via hotels - one has to expect that while in the city centre.

The great kindness, helpfulness and competence of our staff in processing some practical need (adapter plug for current) and to provide guidelines about the city. The interior room which was very quiet, useful if you travel with small children. The almost total lack of bathroom accessories (soap, shampoo), the absence of the power socket in the room except one, and no lights near the bed (only one central light up). The lift is really too small, needed two more trips to move with strollers and luggage.

Veramente un ottimo soggiorno, personale attento e cordiale disponibili 24 su24, struttura un po datata però per chi non ha grosse pretese va benissimo, letti comodi e bagno in stanza abbastanza comodo, è ottima la posizione a cinque minuti di caminata dal sol centro della città e situato proprio sulla gra via veramente un ottima posizione. Se devo trovare un punto a sfavore stanza poco silenziose e rumorosa....ma non sono tutte così, io sono capitato in una rumorosa! Io ve lo consiglio soppratutto se volete girare il centro avendo l'hotel vicino e cosa molto importante ha la fermata metro callao sotto casa!!! Consigliato

La posizione (molto centrale). La disponibilità alla reception La connessione internet Wi-Fi non funziona affatto. C'è molto chiasso anche durante la notte e I gestori non si prodigano affatto affinchè la clientela faccia silenzio e faccia riposare I clienti, tutto è lasciato andare senza alcun controllo quindi è totalmente impossibile riposare la notte

Buon hotel per chi non vuole spendere molto e trovarsi in piena Gran Via ed essere vicino a tutto, metro compresa sia per la visita della città, lo shopping e il divertimento. Staff ottimo, molto disponibile e gentile. Qualità delle camere buona, forse I bagni un po' piccoli. Molto consigliato.

Es un hostal que está muy bien situado a escasos 300 metros de la Puerta del Sol, y perfectamente comunicado en transporte público. Las instalaciones están geniales con una salita de espera muy confortable para pasar algunos ratos. Bueno, lo único es que el tamaño de las camas no es muy largo, apenas 170 cm pero hablo de mi caso en particular.

Toilet small, old, very very noisy place. Wifi not working, they finished the ink to print out the boarding pass as well?! To get in and out the hostel you have to ask permissions. Never again!
