The location is amazing. The hostel is secure - you have three locked doors, a safe in your room, and 24hr reception, which you have to pass to get to any rooms. The people who run the hostel are so friendly, and even though we can't speak Spanish, and they can't speak English, they were always keen to help. Our room came with more than expected - good shower with hot water all the time, fridge, safe, wardrobe, sink, drawers etc, and a small balcony over looking Puerta del Sol. The atmosphere was amazing, and the shared bathrooms we're clean.
Unfortunately, they had some impromptu building work, so after three out of five nights, we had to move to another hostal. However, they organised it, and we ended up staying in a more expensive room, just around the corner, at no extra cost to ourselves. We would have preferred to have stayed at Fuentesol, because it's such a great hostel, but they dealt with the situation brilliantly.
The man that is at the reception is very nice and since the hostal was fully booked he let me sleep on his couch.
My room was infested with bedbugs and I had an allergic reaction to the bites so I had to go to the doctor to take some medicine.
The staff was friendly, the room was clean, with bathroom and fridge. The hostal is very good located, near the city center and Puerta del Sol. A good atmosphere and animated environment in and around the hostal. Good value for money. Good place if you want to try Madrid by night !!
Location great. Just next to del sol square. Wifi works good. Near to metro. Price is very good for Madrid.
Room has shower but no toilet. But it's ok for the price.
The location, you have Puerta del Sol, center of Madrid, literally around the corner.
Can be a bit noisy at the night since it's in the middle of the party district. This can be good or bad depending on if you like to party or not...
Fantastic location, just metres from main square of madrid. Good wifi. Good value given location. Basic but ticks all the boxes for a low cost hotel.
Very small double bed that wasn't very comfortable.
Located nearby facilities lovely place to stay beside the best restaurant in Madrid El Buscon
Excellent city center location practically overlooking Puerta Del Sol and decent, clean room for the price paid.
Extremely noisy in room at the front of the hotel as San Isidro festival celebrations were going on all night. Asked for another room though (in Spanish - staff have only limited English) and one at the back was fine.
Localisation is perfect - near to undround, near to museums, near to very good restaurants & pubs. Room cleaned every day, WiFi works good.
Noise from ouside, especially on Friday & Saturday's nights - up to 6a.m., when finished - garbages trucks starts working.
Decent price for the place , location is a big plus. Place was clean and decent
Not much , the Ac didn't work . The staff late at the night wasn't very receptive
Perfect location and clean room - but very small room as you pay what you get.
The rooms looks a bit "tired" but clean.
very close to the city centre and Puerta del Sol, friendly staff
Excellent location and good staff
too much noise during the night. we could not sleep. Also they can make some efforts for the cleaning or painting the walls and doors as they are very old and stink
Really central and good value for money if a bit basic.
Towels were useless. Other clients were noisy. Need ear plugs.
Excellent location, good room, clean. Excellent shower in the room ! :)
Room at the back so much quieter.
Location and the feeling that you were in the heart of the city and able to soak up the atmosphere like one of the locals. Staff friendly an accommodating, particularly not rushing us to pay the moment we arrived, an allowing us to keep our bags there safely until later in the evening.
Room a bit on the small side, with no natural light. The bed also was rather small, not what I would call a double.
Staff friendliness, downtown location
Street noise, inevitable given the location
Absolutely central location with best access to public transport, bars, restaurants; friendly staff, humble but clean rooms.
Over the weekend, the noise in the street can be annoying.
