If you prefer to stay near the rail station, it's a good choice. The staff are very kind and friendly. It's not a long way to walk to the old town.
friendly personel, we got upgraded to a 4-person room instead of a 2-person room wich had a bit more room. it was clean. White parking (free) close by and blue/green parking in front of the hostel. Althoug the hostel was located near a train station you hardly hear anyting from that.
furniture is old (not broken, but old-fashioned). The restaurant in the station is without any atmosphere. Personal only speaks spanish. Also there is no elevator
Clean room, fine service, comfotable little bathroom.
Everything was all right.
At one time, inexpensive hostals attached to railroad stations had the reputation of being fleabags that were best avoided. This is definitely not the case with Hostal Estación. First of all, there is inexpensive "green zone" parking all around the station area. A one euro coin got me 19 hours. Reception is upstais and to the right of the station entrance, but my room is upstairs and to the left of the entrance via another door. My room had two twin beds, a small nightstand, a round table with TV, two wooden chairs, and a built in closet. The room is actually very spacious with lots of room to spread out. Wifi works great. The bathroom is quite nice. The shower has a 3/4 glass door that swings open and shut. So, the tub is not entirely closed in, but no water ran onto the floor. The shower worked well and there was sufficient hot water and pressure. There is even a shower caddy with three little shelves attached to the corner walls. More hotels should get on the ball with this. My room faced the street and parking area, so I got no direct noise from trains. Although the last train to actually stop in Avila is at midnight, I could hear an occasional rumble as other trains passed through. It's a good 20 minute walk to the old city, but you can easily hop a bus. Cost of room was 22.50€.
If you need to use station or love trains here is the best way to stay. Also the staff was kind even though I couldn't speak in Spanish and they can't speak English.
Location of this hostel is wonerful, the toliet of the room is big and the water of shower is hot enough.
Lady at the desk and in charge of cleaning too was amazing, old school professional.
TV old and hard to work
-friendly staff -clean room of decent size -good price
-no elevator (not convenient with a of of heavy luggage) -staff not always available
I travelled to Avila by train so this was ideal. My room and bathroom both had windows with window boxes. Although I cannot speak Spanish the staff were still very helpful. It is near Lidl and Aldi. There are a lot of inexpensive cafes.
It is a 15 minute walk to the Cathedral.
