Score from 220 reviews Good
The location was ideal to work around Madrid's city centre.
Unfortunately our room was overlooking the street so it was a bit noisy during the night.
Hostel is located in perfect place, just next to Gran Via and metro station, but it's on quite street. A lot of pubs and restaurants nearby. Ideal for starting the tour in Madrid. Nice and friendly staff, small breakfast (mainly coffee, jam and crakers)- but enough to start the day. Wi-fi in the room,TV, hairdrier available, comfy bed. Considering low price my general opinion is in plus. If only you just need place to sleep -it's OK, (with earplugs...)
Walls are very thin and you can hear every converasation or flushing the water in the next rooms, after few times it's getting frustraiting. Room was very dark, becaues it was inside the building, so almost no daylight (I think room should be rated less because of that), toilet was a bit unstable- someone only put piece of wood to fix it. Bedcover and deco pillows should be washed.
Just off the Gran Via, 50 yards from the metro, and central Madrid in walking distance. Room was fine for the price, small but ok and a basic breakfast was thrown in too. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
nice staffs, nice location and well worth it's value.
It was very clean, good rooms and staff very friendly. I would definitely recommend.
I like everything- location, staff, the room itself
Everything! Hostal La Fontana is amazing and I would stay there again tomorrow and recommend to others!
- perfect location just seconds from gran via metro - secure location - great staff - I booked a single room with a shared toilet but when I arrived the guy told me he was bumping me up to a double with private bathroom for nothing extra - so lovely and helpful - comfortable bed - good enough wifi - breakfast included although I woke up late and couldn't have it so I can't say how good it was!
- unfortunately my shower didn't really work, just trickled water, however I didn't report it so I can't complain, perhaps they would have fixed it for me - little bit basic, it's nothing fancy or luxurious but it was what I wanted, cheap, clean and simple.
Very helpful and nice people. Cozy place, centrally located, Great value for the money.
room was clean, staff was helpful and changed the towels if we asked to. location was in the city centre, almost everything was possible to get to by feet. individual bathroom was an advantage. the staff was willing to borrow spoons to the room if we wished.
breakfast was poor, but it is a miracle to have something in that reasonable price, and there was no single spoon for every jam, so that no one knows if guests use their own spoon or knife which cannot be clean to spread the jam to the bread.
Location, price, breakfast
small room, shared bathroom
Muy buena ubicación
The cost and the helpful staff
This hostal is amazing! Free wifi, excellent and friendly staff made the start of my trip abroad a wonderful experience. I have recommended them to a number of people traveling to Madrid.
Hostel is located in the very centre of Madrid, next to Gran Via metro station, about 5-10 mins walking distance from the famous Puerta del Sol. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Wifi was working fine in the room. We enjoyed buffet breakfast every morning. The price/quality ratio is excellent, you get much more than you pay for. We recommend this hostel for everyone :)
Excellent location and good value for money. Lots of pamphlets with Free Tours and Discount cards available on the shelf.
There was a wash-basin inside the room itself and too small at that. Only one socket and high-up on the wall.
Excellent location, very nice staff, comfortable place, fantastic price
I was upgraded
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Located almost ontop of Gran Via metro station and about 5-10 min walk to Puerta del Sol it have the perfect location for exploring Madrid. And as the price was very low this time you get more then you pay for.
Convenient, non-intrusive, efficient.
Noise between walls of rooms - but not serious.
It was good to get breakfastas part uf the reasonable price.
The room (108) was noisy the first night I stayed there it sounded as if somebody was flushing the toilet in the next room every 5 to 10 minutes. The second night there were people in heavy boots tramping about with walky talkies going off this happened twice in a very short space of time enough to disturb my sleep both times!
Staff , decor, breakfast, location, cleanliness
noisy water pipes
I want to include directions on how to get to the hostal from the airport. Take the YELLOW BUS (5.00 Euro) to the city center (3 stops); walk up Gran Via until you see the McDonalds on the left side of the street, approx 10 min. Take a right at the very next street and you are within 100 feet of the Hostal. The Yellow Bus leaves right outside the terminal with the taxies and the other public buses.
only cold water running in the sink. My husband could not shave with only cold water
I enjoyed my stay with all the facilities offered and I'll definitely stay there again.
