It was very clean, good rooms and staff very friendly. I would definitely recommend.
I like everything- location, staff, the room itself
Everything! Hostal La Fontana is amazing and I would stay there again tomorrow and recommend to others!
- perfect location just seconds from gran via metro - secure location - great staff - I booked a single room with a shared toilet but when I arrived the guy told me he was bumping me up to a double with private bathroom for nothing extra - so lovely and helpful - comfortable bed - good enough wifi - breakfast included although I woke up late and couldn't have it so I can't say how good it was!
- unfortunately my shower didn't really work, just trickled water, however I didn't report it so I can't complain, perhaps they would have fixed it for me - little bit basic, it's nothing fancy or luxurious but it was what I wanted, cheap, clean and simple.
Very helpful and nice people. Cozy place, centrally located, Great value for the money.
room was clean, staff was helpful and changed the towels if we asked to. location was in the city centre, almost everything was possible to get to by feet. individual bathroom was an advantage. the staff was willing to borrow spoons to the room if we wished.
breakfast was poor, but it is a miracle to have something in that reasonable price, and there was no single spoon for every jam, so that no one knows if guests use their own spoon or knife which cannot be clean to spread the jam to the bread.
Location, price, breakfast
small room, shared bathroom
Muy buena ubicación
The cost and the helpful staff
This hostal is amazing! Free wifi, excellent and friendly staff made the start of my trip abroad a wonderful experience. I have recommended them to a number of people traveling to Madrid.
Hostel is located in the very centre of Madrid, next to Gran Via metro station, about 5-10 mins walking distance from the famous Puerta del Sol. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Wifi was working fine in the room. We enjoyed buffet breakfast every morning. The price/quality ratio is excellent, you get much more than you pay for. We recommend this hostel for everyone :)
Excellent location and good value for money. Lots of pamphlets with Free Tours and Discount cards available on the shelf.
There was a wash-basin inside the room itself and too small at that. Only one socket and high-up on the wall.
Excellent location, very nice staff, comfortable place, fantastic price
I was upgraded
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Located almost ontop of Gran Via metro station and about 5-10 min walk to Puerta del Sol it have the perfect location for exploring Madrid. And as the price was very low this time you get more then you pay for.
Convenient, non-intrusive, efficient.
Noise between walls of rooms - but not serious.
It was good to get breakfastas part uf the reasonable price.
The room (108) was noisy the first night I stayed there it sounded as if somebody was flushing the toilet in the next room every 5 to 10 minutes. The second night there were people in heavy boots tramping about with walky talkies going off this happened twice in a very short space of time enough to disturb my sleep both times!
Staff , decor, breakfast, location, cleanliness
noisy water pipes
I want to include directions on how to get to the hostal from the airport. Take the YELLOW BUS (5.00 Euro) to the city center (3 stops); walk up Gran Via until you see the McDonalds on the left side of the street, approx 10 min. Take a right at the very next street and you are within 100 feet of the Hostal. The Yellow Bus leaves right outside the terminal with the taxies and the other public buses.
only cold water running in the sink. My husband could not shave with only cold water
I enjoyed my stay with all the facilities offered and I'll definitely stay there again.
Friendly welcome Very good location Clean and cosy room
The window is on the inner court which is small, so many people can see you in your room. But you can close the curtains and it is good.
The young man on reception was very pleasant, helpful and kind. The bed was comfortable.
The room was L shaped, with bed facing door. The other part contained sink, shower, and toilet, all in a line. I had to walk sideways to pass these. The toilet was wedged between the radiator and the shower unit, so using this was a problem, with legs against shower on one side and radiator on the other, right up against the window. The sets on my bed were dark grey and dingy looking, so I had to ask to have some lighter ones, which the young man did for me, otherwise I would never have been able to even lie down for the night. I felt like I was in a prison cell. I would say this is more suitable for a young backpacker than an elderly person. They do not show this room in the publicity photos!!!
A nice little hotel w interesting decor and feel. Clean and cosy. Can walk to central tourist zone, 15min.
A bit difficult to find initially, bus stop from airport / train station far from hotel, walk 10 min. Wifi is poor.
Near to city Center and metro station Granvia
The rooms are very congested. Bathrooms are the worst part of the stay. Breakfast was very bad. They just have toast and coffee. We wasted our money by picking this hotel.
