-Location, location, location. It's steps from Plaça de Catalunya, where you can catch transit and particularly the bus to and from the airport, and of course taxis. You can walk within a few minutes to the historic area core including the Cathedral. What seems to be the Spanish equivalent of Target or Sears is across the street, and many restaurants are nearby.
-It's a budget choice.
-It's very small, yet staffed so there's always someone around and you feel safe. The staff are very friendly.
-There's wifi that dropped only a couple times
One quick tip on finding the place: Signs on many shared buildings are rather small; you're looking for a sign that says Pension Lima. Not sure why this and other review sites list it as a hostal, but there's only one Lima.
Well, it's the budget Euro thing: small rooms, small shower, small elevator, and such. The walls are thin - you can hear the staff as they talk in the lobby. There's an A/C that can help mask the sound from that and the street.
- Presumably because of old plumbing, there's a grinder at the base of the toilet that makes some noise after every flush, and also intermittently when one runs the sink or shower. The grinder sounded much louder inside the tiled shower than it did from the outside, when the bathroom door was closed. It wasn't disruptive to anyone sleeping in the main room, but it was noisy inside. Odd, but not horrible. Did I mention this was a budget choice?
