This is a fantastic hostal. Close to the centre and convenient for the metro. It is basic but very clean and comfortable. The owners do not speak any English but somehow you get by. One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in.
The hostal is above a very busy bar (especially on Friday and Saturday night) and this may put some off.
the welcome received and the quality of the room given Thanks hope to stay again in the future.
Excellent value for money
Could do with a coat of paint.
Friendly staff, good location, clean room, fresh towels daily
Minor quibble - bathroom was quite small and tended to get very hot.
Enjoyed our stay at Hostal Los Perales but our room was at the front directly above a bar that stayed open until the early hours and as it was warm we needed the windows open but the noise was very loud and smoke from the cigarette smokers came up and into our room too, the room although tiny was kept lovely and clean , great value for money
Noisy, cigarette smoke wafting into room from bar below
Very good value for money. Very clean. Nice staff.
Noisy neighborhood. Loud music until late.
Very good location, close to Chueca, supermarkets & subway.
Only half the rooms have wifi, beds are not very comfortable, overhead fans do not help much cooling the rooms down in summer.
Good price Great location Helpful owners (though they speak little English) My room was quite small but it had a comfy single bed, wash basin and wardrobe, towels, even free toiletries that I didn't expect. Room was cleaned every day.
It felt a bit like staying in someone's flat vs in a hostel (upon entrance you're passing owner's kitchen where they cook and eat). Shared bathroom also looks like a family bathroom with a bathtub and toilet (plus there is an extra, separate toilet) - I am not sure if these are what the family actually uses, too. It was very clean though.
Excellent location and staff were pleasant. Excellent value for money.
Only 20 euro for a single room, in the middle of Malasaña, quiet at night
Smell from the bathroom, grumpy owner (didn't feel welcome)
Staff very friendly, had help me with a lot of things.
Nothing in specific.
the location is not easy to find and you can easily get lost. the smell of the hostel is terrible, so is the cleanliness. you can't sleep coz you can hear everything going onin the other rooms even other bathrooms. the guys there only speaks spanish no english. there's no AC. the wifi is only connected in the lobby. there's no elevator, you have to go up the stairs with your luggage. its charges higher than other hostals that have better location and facilities.
great location. great wifi. very nice double room. very clean.
no air conditioning. it was hot in the spanish summer. in the winter it's not a problem.
Cheap price, clean room
Staffs cannot speak English at all
The location of the hostel is close to the city center and close to the metro station ( Placa de Espanya) where two major lines intersect. The room was clean and comfortable. I didn`t find air condition but a big fan on the ceiling of the room did the work just fine.
The only things I didn`t like was the street on which the hostel was located (little bit dirty ) and the fact that you will have to be a little bit careful not to pass by the location because it doesn`t have any big sign for you just the name of the hostel on the intercom of the building. So if the problem with the location advertisement will be solved I think it is like I said in the title " a gem for the budget backpackers".
Lots of value for low budget.
Nobody speaks english.
Very clean. Handy for the centre and local shops and bars.
Our room was onto the street and we couldn't get much sleep Friday and Saturday night due to the noise in the street. We stayed out til 2 but the noise didn't stop until 7am.
Location, hot water, reasonably cheap, strong wifi.
Didn't speak English, no information/advice given, they advertised drinks/snacks but refused to give them when asked, bathroom very small, very hot room- no Ac and fan was useless, just made a noise!
Not very expensive, not far from metro station, near the supermarket
Really cute place. I had a tiny room with a bathroom down the hall..I was only in Madrid for one night so it was perfect for me. I saw there were other rooms with bigger beds and a bigger space that I would have paid a little bit extra for but I only paid like 15 euro for the night so it was great!
The idea of a Shared bathroom...but for 15 euro it was fine.
Great location, clean rooms, good price.
It's in the centrum, so one must be aware it can be noisy during weekends.
Hmm..reception manager just talk about the room and keys. And nothing. I have never seen her for4 days. I was surprised that the shower place is just next to the door and bed.
The room was small but very clean and was cleaned thoroughly everyday. The bed was also made very nicely each day and it was obvious a lot of effort was put into it. Despite the location near several bars the noise was not too bad. The room did not have A/C but the ceiling fan did a good job of keeping us cool. The location was good. Not in the centre but close. Many shops, bars and cafeterias were close by and the subway was 5 mintues away. The price per night was excellent, especially since it included a private bathroom.
All the of the problems were in the bathroom; The temperature of the shower was very difficult to control and would change suddenly on it's own. The water also drained very slowly almost causing a flood in the bathroom. Sometimes the toilet would not flush. We were only given one toilet roll at a time so had to ask each time we needed a new one.
No wifi inside the room.
Bed surprisingly comfortable. Price is right.
In bathroom every noise next door was heard. WIFI only available in hall by reception area.
