This small, 3-star guesthouse is located right in the heart of historic Madrid, overlooking the city’s central street, Gran Via, near Plaza Callao.
Score from 381 reviews Good
Just 2 minutes’ walk from San Fernando Metro Station, Hostal Goyma I is set in the centre of San Fernando de Henares It is within 10 km of Barajas Airport and the IFEMA Exhibition Centre.

i like that it is clean and cozy. And it was colse enough to the Sol area.
The ladies working there kep kept speaking in Spanish because they couldn't speak English, which made me kinda disappointed since they put English on the Language section on their introduction. And the floor smelled smoking pretty much all times.
Location near the Opera was excellent. Room was clean and towels were changed every day. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was at nearby restaurant and was fine. All in all, good for the money paid.
Street noise was awful! Wear earplugs. Bathroom was incredibly tiny with a sink that was airplane size.
Great location!!!! Everything is near with walking distance...Puertas del sol, Plaza Mayor, Mercado San Miguel, Gran Via...and even El Prado, Thyssen, Palacio and Fuente Cibeles, Parque de El Retiro... The staff was great all the time, 24h reception and total independence with your key card on hands. Old building but modern on the inside. Very clean with all amenities...I really recommend!!!!
The breakfast nearby not in the hostal* with unfriendly staff to hostal costumers and poor breakfast choices
Staff very helpful and pleasant. Proximity to Palace and major sights, cafés and restaurants excellent with easy access to public. Would recommend, very good value.
TV did not work and A/c not working effectively.
Convenience to main centre. Good breakfast in nearby café
Rooms were not very soundproof
Quiet and clean room Wonderful location in the heart of Madrid. Short walk to Plaza Mayor, Opera, Puerta del Sol
A little hard to find at first as there are no signs. You must go to the 3rd floor and knock on the door to the left as you exit the elevator. They speak a little English, but it helps if you speak Spanish
Price! Rooms! Wifi! For this price in Madrit?? Perfect place
Wonderful staff, great location, nice room and very good services. Highly Recommended
solid services throughout the hostal
location is excellent
wi-fi was poor
- great location - very comfortable and clean rooms - after check out, the hostal allowed us to leave the bags there, so we could walk in the city while waiting for a late flight.
- air conditioner didn't go lower than 18C, and due to august temperatures in Madrid, sometimes we wanted a bit fresher.
Location, one minute walk from Metro Opera station, many shops and restaurants nearby, quiet room in courtyard side, renovated and clean, bathroom amenities like in hotels (shampoo, bath gel, shower cap, soap, toothbrush/paste, hairdryer etc..), wifi worked well + 3 computers available for travellers, and the lovely owner Marguarita. Great value.
Nothing ! But some points; Breakfast to take in a restaurant outside. Better speak Spanish, but does not matter if you do not. Find hostel is not difficult : You can see smaller panel "Hostal Luz" on the higher floor when you look up on the Fuentes street. No.10 mentioned over building main door, so push Hostal Luz button on the right side of the door to open.
The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable and I have no hesitation in recommending the Hostal Luz. On my next trip to Madrid I will definitely try to book a room here again as it was so convenient for the city centre.
The bed sheet is cute and the bed is really comfy. We reserved a twin room, out of expectation, they gave us a double bed plus a single bed!
The refrigerator in our room was broken. The drain is bad.
Fairly close to Opera Metro station and shops/ pubs/ within a 600 metre radius
Having to go to a restaurant ablock away with unruly service
The location is great
We had a hard time to find the place. There is only tiny little sign so it was very hard to find. The lady couldn't speak English but I was able to understand her through body languages.
Very kind staffs. The owner printed some papers for me but didn't charge me. It is a safe and beautiful place. Very near to Sol Plaza and city center; very good location.
Towels and blankets were not very clean.
location was excellent. Manageress Marguerita was so helpful. It was quiet and included breakfast.
Key card didn't always work first time but there was always someone to open the door if you called.
great value for money, excellent location (walking distance to most touristic places and literally 30 seconds from the metro "opera"), clean rooms and clean towels. breakfast is simple yet enough, you get orange juice+hot drink+one type of food. you do get your money's worth with this hostal, I've seen some other places in france and italy that could not even compare in quality. also, good toiletries in the bathroom.
the ladies at the reception do not speak english, but this seems to be common among madrileños anyway... also, their credit card machine is broken and doesn't read chips or bands, so they enter the number by hand and all digits are seen on the receipt - not cool.
Central location and pleasant staff
Cristina is a great hostes and the location is excellent- in the middle of everything with an easy access to the metro
The staff was exceptionally hospitable and the location was great
I liked everything of the hostel, from staff to availability of the same. Rooms are clean and comfortable if you are there for tourism (i.e. do not spend too much time in the hotel).
Wifi signal may be weak in some rooms.
Receptionist and location.
We booked a triple room and the website pictures were very misleading. Our room was obviously a twin with and extra bed. As the room was small anyway there was no room to move around and the wardrobe was blocked by the extra bed which meant it couldn't be used and access to the balcony was also blocked because of the extra bed. Don't book a triple room here. The breakfast was tiny and the television channels were very limited.
The location cannot be beat. Hostal luz is a short walk from all the major sites in Madrid. The staff are very helpful with recommendations. Just as a note, they are most proficient in Spanish (obviously), so it is helpful to understand a bit for asking questions. It is definitely solid value for money.
The internet did not work in most of our room. Also, our keys to the building regularly stopped working.
