    - great location - very comfortable and clean rooms - after check out, the hostal allowed us to leave the bags there, so we could walk in the city while waiting for a late flight.

    - air conditioner didn't go lower than 18C, and due to august temperatures in Madrid, sometimes we wanted a bit fresher.

Location, one minute walk from Metro Opera station, many shops and restaurants nearby, quiet room in courtyard side, renovated and clean, bathroom amenities like in hotels (shampoo, bath gel, shower cap, soap, toothbrush/paste, hairdryer etc..), wifi worked well + 3 computers available for travellers, and the lovely owner Marguarita. Great value.

Nothing ! But some points; Breakfast to take in a restaurant outside. Better speak Spanish, but does not matter if you do not. Find hostel is not difficult : You can see smaller panel "Hostal Luz" on the higher floor when you look up on the Fuentes street. No.10 mentioned over building main door, so push Hostal Luz button on the right side of the door to open.

The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable and I have no hesitation in recommending the Hostal Luz. On my next trip to Madrid I will definitely try to book a room here again as it was so convenient for the city centre.

The bed sheet is cute and the bed is really comfy. We reserved a twin room, out of expectation, they gave us a double bed plus a single bed!

The refrigerator in our room was broken. The drain is bad.

    The location is great

We had a hard time to find the place. There is only tiny little sign so it was very hard to find. The lady couldn't speak English but I was able to understand her through body languages.

Very kind staffs. The owner printed some papers for me but didn't charge me. It is a safe and beautiful place. Very near to Sol Plaza and city center; very good location.

Towels and blankets were not very clean.

location was excellent. Manageress Marguerita was so helpful. It was quiet and included breakfast.

Key card didn't always work first time but there was always someone to open the door if you called.

great value for money, excellent location (walking distance to most touristic places and literally 30 seconds from the metro "opera"), clean rooms and clean towels. breakfast is simple yet enough, you get orange juice+hot drink+one type of food. you do get your money's worth with this hostal, I've seen some other places in france and italy that could not even compare in quality. also, good toiletries in the bathroom.

the ladies at the reception do not speak english, but this seems to be common among madrileños anyway... also, their credit card machine is broken and doesn't read chips or bands, so they enter the number by hand and all digits are seen on the receipt - not cool.

I liked everything of the hostel, from staff to availability of the same. Rooms are clean and comfortable if you are there for tourism (i.e. do not spend too much time in the hotel).

Wifi signal may be weak in some rooms.

    Receptionist and location.

We booked a triple room and the website pictures were very misleading. Our room was obviously a twin with and extra bed. As the room was small anyway there was no room to move around and the wardrobe was blocked by the extra bed which meant it couldn't be used and access to the balcony was also blocked because of the extra bed. Don't book a triple room here. The breakfast was tiny and the television channels were very limited.

The location cannot be beat. Hostal luz is a short walk from all the major sites in Madrid. The staff are very helpful with recommendations. Just as a note, they are most proficient in Spanish (obviously), so it is helpful to understand a bit for asking questions. It is definitely solid value for money.

The internet did not work in most of our room. Also, our keys to the building regularly stopped working.

This hotel is just perfect for the money. It was extremely clean and had a great staff who was very attentive.

Maybe the noise level is a bit high, but given the location it might be a problem in any other as well.

Location, comfortable room, public computer with the Internet access; breakfast, basic but helpful close to Metro. Staff is friendly and helpful; speaking only Spanish, but you can understand the message.

No sign of the hotel outside at the door. It could be confusing for the first time visitor

Very friendly staff, hotel cosy and clean. Location is perfect, at just one minute from the opera and real palace, breakfast is served in a restaurant close by. Small but comfortable rooms, when you request a quiet room you get one facing the backside so you don't hear the city at all. Free wifi and hundreds of tv channels in case you get bored of Madrid...

    - Location is perfect: 5 minutes to Royal Castle or Puerta del Sol place, 10 minutes to Prado museum, 20 minutes to Atochi railway station; - breakfast in cafe` not far from hotel; - providing all essential information & tickets; - clean & tidy rooms, cleaning every day; - excelent free wi-fi

    - Little English on reception (just Spanish); - small breakfast (though as usual in Europe); - small elevator (not every luggage can be carry on the 3rd flour)

Nothing but respect for Hostal Luz! The location couldn't be more central; the welcome couldn't be more pleasant. The rooms and facilities are great, staff helpful and the place feels amazing. Add to that a breakfast in a stylish café just opposite the Opera, and a 24-hour grocery store across the street; and this place easily gives many major hotel chains a run for their money.

Prepare to behold the tiniest elevator you have ever seen. Beats walking three storeys up, though.
