Useful "kitchen"which I didn't use, very nice shower/ bathroom.
There was some confusion when I arrived outside at first. Didn't seem to know who I was, and that I was arriving, and I had to wait a few minutes while they sorted it out.Which was annoying. WIFI originally said I was "Out of range," but then worked fine. I'd go back with my wife.
price vs. valuate, nice room, nice street view
the walls are like a paper, you can hear other people like where in your room
The hotel is just great, just small issue with the location. It's pretty close to Gran Via and metro etc.
The street has a lot of girls working around so if you do not have problem with these it's just awesome
The location is good, walkable to Metro and free wifi in room.
No Kettle or hair dryer in room.
good staff (but at the night, they only speak Spanish) clean room(everyday change the 3 towels and clean up the room) enough space( for 1 person, it's enough to stay) downtown located
Location is perfect, cozy, value for money and very helpful staff especially Cello
The location was close to most interesting sites and to a metro station. It is relatively cheap considering it's right in the heart of Madrid, so we weren't expecting much. But the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was always clean. Wifi connectivity was good. Shower facilities were good and soap/shampoo were voluntarily provided.
The walls are thin so it was rather noisy. You could hear the phones and other people talking off the whole corridor. And the bed and pillows were uncomfortable. The room was compact but having a lot of space was not a priority for us as we were out enjoying the city most of the time. The prostitutes in the street were not a bonus of course but they didn't bother us so we didn't really mind them. It's a "you get what you pay for" hotel. Can't really complain.
very nice staff, who helped us with lots of information, and with kindness ; good prices ; very close to GranVia and Metro stations ; clean rooms
people talking too loud on the halls during the night ; good hostal but located on a non-family zone (prostitutes on the street)
We started our trip in Madrid and returned for the second time- this place is located in a quiet + safe street and 3 min walk to the center. Staff were very freindly and the room was clean and comfortable. We recommand this place very much, you will enjoy.
we traveled with a baby and the hotel did not have a cot/crib- i think a foldable one is quite cheap and worth keeping. The taxi driver to the airport that was ordered by the hotel charged more than what they advertised on the front desk- I think the hotel should update the price or work with only fair taxi company that are honest.
Hostel Ballesta has perfest location near Gran Via. It's between Puerta del Sol and Chueca, and on a half way between Retiro and Palacio Real de Madrid. It's clean, staff are helpfull. If hotel room had had minibar, it would have been perfect. There are some prostitutes in the neighborhood but center of Madrid is overloaded with them. That only means that Ballesta is on the good location :)
Good value for money, nice and clean room, localization, everything was good.
It is close to Gran vía avenue, metro is a few steps away. With friendly staff and clean facilities.
Location is not the safest in Madrid, though.
It's a great place to be close to the shopping area and City Center, very clean, staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Although it was indeed a bit noisy (it is located in a pedestrian zone), we managed to get some good nights' sleep. There is a fridge downstairs where you can leave stuff, wifi works great - it is a great deal of price - quality - would definitely recommend, if you're not traveling by car;
The working ladies all around the neighbourhood were a bit disturbing.
Honestly, I did not expect much before going to the hotel as it was a cheap one. But I can recommend it to everybody, its location, staff, rooms, cleaning, air condition everything was great. Before to go I read comments about the hotel being too noisy but in my room I heard nothing at all.
When we arrived in the room, there was an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom but then we realized that it is because the room has not been used for a longtime. When we flushed the toilet so that the water can renew, this smell has disappeared. There are too many women on the streets, so maybe it can disturb some family but they do not round on.
close to down town
the surrounding is a little weird, strange people on the streets near the hotel.
The staff was excellent! Thanks so much to Patricia, Chelo, and Ana! They all helped make my first trip to Spain memorable. They helped me plan my day trips, and they accommodated all my needs with a smile! The cleaning staff was great as well! The Internet was fast and I liked it that I could print my stuff right away! It was my home away from home!
The street of ballasta is notorious for where 'working girls' can be found, and it's true. But they keep to themselves, and the street is safe to walk in at night because I did it coming back from dinner, and I travel alone and am usually leary. The hostel is a gem in this notorious street!
Rooms are big and comfortable
The street is notorious in Madrid for being in the red light district. It is not good value for money - not even tea/coffee included
The hotel is located in the center of the city. Free wi-fi and very good wireless connection in the room.
They don't have parking place and they cannot offer you better prices to park in another place and to park your car for 24h in Madrid is 30 EUR, almost the same price with the price room. In the room was a vey bad smell from access hole of the air conditioning, even when this one it is switched off.
Near the subway station. Easy to go downtown to sight seeing.
Red light district day & night. It's smell Sewer gas outside of building & inside hostel bathroom.
1- the room was clean. 2- the price was great . 3- the staff were very nice.
There was a noise from the adjoining rooms.
Fantastic location! Literally 20 meters from Gran Via. Highly recommend it. Most hotels in the area are at least double the price. Excellent hotel!
Good wifi , Aircon,Room safe , 5 mins from Metro and shops/restaurants next door.
No English channels on TV
close to the city center
dirty surroundings around the house
