The staff were super friendly and very helpful. The room was an oasis along the busy Gran Via. Very calm and peaceful. Great price and location. Would highly recommend.
Staff were extremley helpful and polite ..spoke good english..a central location which is great!! unfortunately no breakfast supplied but more than enough options for breakfast and other meals right on the doorstep !!
The fact we didn't stay longer !!
Gabriela and Georgina were excellent hosts, warm and attentive. The room was very clean and comfortable, as well as amazingly quiet for its location. (We can't speak for the rooms on the street side, since our room was on the inside of the building.) We walked everywhere -- never took the subway or a cab, and a great place for breakfast is literally steps from the door.
My only complaint is that the bathroom sink was almost too small to be useful. We were constantly splashing water everywhere. However, that is a very small detail. Overall, the hotel was perfect for our needs.
Location, staff, design, comfort, cleanness.
1- warm welcoming from ( Gabriela and Georgia ) 2- staff smileing all time 3- cleaned 4- fast service 5- Friendly staff
Everything was more then what I expected SURE. I will come back to this place when I visit Madrid again
I can't say enough good about this hostel, the receptionist, Gabrielle, was the most helpful and friendly hostess I have ever met in any accommodating establishment- she gave us lots of advice, tips and went out of her way to find me onward accommodation after my stay. She was always really cheerful and action pleasure to talk to - we looked forward to seeing her every day! Would definitely recommend on counts, brilliant value for money. Thank you!!!! :)
I liked everything.
Very good location for seeing all the sights of Madrid. Gabi, in reception, is a treasure of Madrid. She gave us a map with suggested sites and walking route on arrival and we used it during our stay. She made us very comfortable and went out of her way to make us welcome. Our room was bright, airy and roomy. We were delighted.
The room was nicely decorated, comfortable, and provided with flat screen tv. The bathroom was equipped with shower kits and spotlessly clean. And above all, the service and attitude upon arrival and during the stay was very warm. Gabriella tried to accommodate my request for early check-in and was willing to help all the time. The location is as good as you can get in Madrid, close to 4 metro stations (right in front of Callao) and surrounded by countless number of restaurants, shops, and language schools.Wifi was excellent and free I will stay here again for sure. Well done!
The only thing i would love see in the future is a common area.
Everything was perfect clean, secure, nearly the shopping, metro, ... but à special thank to gabriela who was any times for us with he's smile if a back that will be for the service to recommand. Hotel parfait, propre, sécurité, proche du shopping et metro... un spécialement un merci à Gabriela pour son service et son sourire, je reviendrais dans le même hôtel à recommander.
Good location, very friendly and useful staff.
As it's on a main road, quite noisy late at night (we were there on a weekend) Mattress not the most comfy
We traveled through 3 countries over 2 weeks and stayed at many different hotels/hostels. Hostel Main Street was in our top 2. The other one was in Paris and cost significantly more than this one. This one was by far the best value. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and well decorated. Rooms were on the small side but very well arranged so the small size wasn't an issue at all, even with several large bags. We couldn't have been more pleased with our experience here. We wished we had scheduled to stay longer here than just one night.
The place was centrally located. There were plenty of taxis pass by which made it easy to commute. The train stations were also nearby, which made commuting via train very easy. When using a taxi to go back to the hotel, it was easy for them to locate the hotel and tell them the address (Gran Via Cincuenta). The rooms had all the amenities necessary and it even had a balcony. There's a supermarket very nearby where you can buy groceries, and fast food options for when you're really hungry but it's night time. All-in-all, I highly recommend the hotel for budget-minded couples.
The bed was not that comfortable. There's no lock on the bathroom and it has a sliding door. The sink is outside the bathroom, which is kinda nice because people can use both separately without locking the other, but bad because everything there gets wet. The sink was small so water can easily overflow. The room was also a little small but not bad for the price. Definitely enough room for a couple.
The staff is very helpful and friendly, the location is near everything you want to visit. Very clean rooms, the hostel looks very nice!
Nothing to be honest.
the staff is really nice and considerable. location is perfect price fair enough well decorated
Service was above and beyond what was expected - regardless of price. The price for the value of this hotel is unmatched for any stay in recent memory.
Location on Gran Via. Gabriela at reception was very welcoming and helpful, and made good sightseeing suggestions for our short stay. We would stay there again.
The rooms were clean and bright, well equipped and spacious enough. Not what you'd expect from a hostel. Great customer service. Great location.
Staff were extremely helpful, friendly, spoke good English and offered many suggestions to explore the city in my very limited time available. Complimentary bottle of Cava and chocolates were appreciated. Despite the noise, I would definitely stay again due to excellent location, staff and facilities.
The shower head was in a poor position and sprayed straight on to the floor which made hair washing very difficult. my room fronted onto the side street facing McDonalds, very noisy all night!
Staff were really lovely, particularly Gabriella on reception. Location means finding somewhere to eat is no problem, plus almost anywhere is within walking distance (walked back from Plaza Mayor without too much difficulty). This was my second stay here and should I/we return to Madrid, then wouod not hesitate to stay again.
As with our previous stay at Hostal Main Street, there was nothing to dislike and I would recommend for others to look at it online to decide for themselves.
center of madrid - bus tour is infront of the hotel - good behavior from staff guit clean
that i didn't stay longer
We spent 2 nights at the Hostal Main Street Madrid last week-end and we really enjoyed it. First of all, the way we were greeted by the local manager, a friendly, always-smiling young woman, was EXCEPTIONAL! She spent literally 10-15 minutes with us when we arrived, happily sharing with us great insights on places to visit, areas where to go, restaurants to have diner.... We travel quite a lot and such a level of involvement is very uncommon. Every time we saw her, it was the same young positive smiling face in front of us and it made us feel very comfortable. It was really a great customer experience by itself and we did enjoy it. The hotel, located on the 5th floor of the main commercial street is very clean and nicely decorated. The room has everything you expect for this range of price. The location is exceptional as it gives you the opportunity all main sites without having to take care of transportation as you can walk easily to all key places to visit. The welcome drink and the sweets offered when we left were very very appreciated. I'm sure there are a lot of lovely small hostals in Madrid like this one. But I doubt there are that many where the manager does her job so professionally and nicely. It looks as a nice place like many other ones, but the reality is that it is A VERY FRIENDLY PLACE WHERE YOU FEEL VERY GOOD and this, to me, MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE!
The mattress was ok, but clearly not the best. Nevertheless, we spent only 2 nights and it did not destroy our back. Despite this, if we were to go back to Madrid, we would still definitely go there and we clearly recommend this place.
extremely kind and helpful staff, doing much more for us than we could have expected.
the only real problem was noise from the street all through the night, but this cannot really be blamed on the hotel.
Women working the front desk were fantastic and tried hard to ensure my stay was a good experiece. My room was bright with a nice pleasant design. I think the bed mattress would be acceptable to a wide range of people.Liked the multiple convenient power outlets to charge electronics. If you are after a budget hotel, look no further.
Just note that the hotel is on the 5th floor of a building with no obvious signage out front but easy to find if you use the address. Its next to a McDonalds, about a minutes walk from Callao metro stop. The hotel is basically a reception desk and the rooms.
The warm welcome and attention from Gabriella was fabulous. Lovely room and very comfortable bed. Gabriella was helpful with advice and tourist information.
Could not find any negative aspect to my stay
Placement is excellent, on Gran Via with "everything" within walking distance. Lovely room, excellent service from the ever helpful hosts Georgina and Gabriella. Of course you hear the traffic at such a central location, bring ear plugs if you need it to sleep. The view from the fifth floor down on Gran Via was worth it.
Skip the prepaid breakfast at a nearby cafe - unless a toast, jam, a small bocadillo and coffee is your idea of breakfast. If you prefer a full breakfast there are plenty of options close by.
