For the money we paid and considering it is a hostel I wasn't expecting much. But! Staff is very helpful, they clean every day, have a luggage storage, are in the central area! I'm just so amazed! Me and my boyfriend stayed in a twin room cuz I didn't find the double right away. The way to the room is a little bit confusing but that can be the only issue that we had. To us not that much we catched up very quickly but just for the others it might be. I will definitely come back! Huge plus!
Nothing, bravo Hostal Madrid!
Good location, nice people at the reception, very helpful. The rooms are very good and clean, and more hotel like than hostel-like.
There were some renovations, but not very disturbing
the location / the facilities / helping stuff
the sound isolation between walls is not good. though we rate the accomodation as very good, because everything was better than our expectation.
The staff were ever so helpfull with everything including helping us locate our lost luggage. The rooms very clean and the location was amazing. The breakfast was unexplained and confusing. But will definatly stay here again. Good value for money. Very close to plaza mayor and 10 min walk to Renfe rail terminal.
No bad points
Very helpful staff and great location.
We stayed there 2 nights. First night we stayed in a very tiny room next to reception. It was very noisy. People kept talking, coming and going all night long so we couldn't sleep much. Second day I asked for another room wick was bigger and further away from reception area. It was all great.
experienced and helpful staff, good location and a dedicated room for my son and I. Also an excellent building which had a lot of history and had been reasonably well preserved . Good breakfast too.
On the side of a hill, but what do you expect in Central Lisbon?
wifi in the room location (metro is 3 minutes walk ) breakfast (although not in the hotel , you have to walk 100 m ) friendly staff
on Monday (our 3rd day of stay) at around 9am they started the renovation of the place, you coudn't stay in the room as it was too noisy, thanks God it was our last day !
The location is perfect. It's within a walking distance of all main attractions, there are plenty of nice restaurants, cafes and flamenco theaters nearby. And the train station and airport bus (that also runs in the night) are very close. The room is very clean, all facilities are good. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Thin walls so that we could hear the noise from other rooms. Not much noise but still a little annoying.
Bed comfy, big room. Private bathroom with great shower. Location close to metro station and close to Sol. Over all, a nice stay.
Room wasnt ready when we arrived. Staff took a while to check us in.
Just 2 metro stops from main station. Good sized room for a single. Tea & coffee. Nicer than many hotel rooms.
It is Spain so don't expect good soundproofing. Could have been a lot worse to be fair.
We where in walking distance to everything. The staff noticed it was my birthday from my passport. The next day I recived a bottle of wine from the staff.
Spacious rooms - family friendly; huge, well laid out shower room (equipped for wheelchair use); good wifi; helpful staff; the taxi man who came up 3 floors to help us with our bags (good egg); very close to all that was going on.
A bit dark as facing inner courtyard (minor); main road outside (only an issue when borading/alighting cabs. Nothing of note to crib about.
Very helpful staff! Clean room with sufficient space. The hostal is located on the 3rd floor of an old building (shared with other hostals on other floors), but once you enter the hostal's area it is quite bright and clean.
The room was absolutely NOT soundproofed, could hear the whole conversation of the people in the next room. When we stayed the people in the next room were very loud and kept talking well after midnight. We phoned the guy at the reception and he helped as much as he could, which was nice (but the fact that the walls between the rooms are so thin is still terrible in general). Also, the "included breakfast" was provided NOT by the hostal but a cafe on the opposite side of the street, and we ended up having to pay extra, because there was a limit to how much we could eat!
Nice reception people (helpful) Good location Reception girls recommended a great local restaurant, was great & full of locals Clean good size rooms + bath room.
Confussing where reception is?!?! Cigarette burn in bed.
Comfortable bed and very clean room. Also the breakfast is worth booking.
Only one mirror which was found in the bathroom which isn't ideal when sharing a room between two girls. Also the room we were given was very far into the hostel and had to go through many exits to get to our areas. Together with the room being quite small and old fashioned unlike the other rooms in the begining of the hotel which are the ones we saw in the pictures. Another thing was that there was some work being done in the hostel so we would hear banging and sometimes even the smell of paint.
The position on Calle Atocha is very central, within walking distance of some of the most attractive areas of Madrid - squares, art galleries, etc., with many good restaurants nearby. Very clean though unremarkable room, but quite comfortable, and with all necessities. The staff are pleasant and helpful.
The Hostal shares a building with others. It is on the third floor, but is managed from another Hostal on the first floor - though this is not a problem once one knows!
Calidades de categoría superior
Heating needs upgrading.
The staff is very nice. Location is very good. Walkable to Reina Sofia, if you dont want to take Metro. The room is ok but a bit small if it's for 2 people.
The wifi wasnt so good. It wasnt working on the last day I staryed
The location is very good. The staff id very good. I left a luggage for one night to travel to other town and it was safe.
The room is a bit small but I was alone so it's ok but for 2 people, might be too small. Wifi wasnt working on the last night either in room or lobby area.
Location and breakfast
Lovely staff and fantastic location made our stay in Madrid most enjoyable. This hostel is surprisingly quite and only minutes from the major art museums.
Nice and clear hostel. Very close to donwtown and train Station (Atocha). I stayed for 3 nights and I really recommend this place.
Hostal Martin is on the third floor, but we were put in a room on the first floor (Hostal Cervelo). Good size of the room with a double and a single bed. Clean bathroom a plus. TV, Wifi and heating all worked correctly. The receptionists can arrange a transfer to the airport.
Small lift - you need to be patient when you want to go up or down. The bed was too soft - a new matress is needed.
Easy to find the location. Convenient.
