Good location Friendly staff
Location is near Placa Catalunya and Metro station, quiet neighborhood
Beautiful building! Fine location, metro is nearby. Unfortunately the nearest metro was closed. Walk to placa Catalunya is 15 minutes.
A bit noisy (specially when someone flushes another toilet) Small bed for a person who is taller than 180cm
it was really nice place with nice people. everything was perfect.thanks a lot
good location, comfortable room, nice balcony, friendly staff (i checked in very late at night with no problem and smiling staff)
the room was a bit noisy, from both street and neighbor room, wifi was slow
Amazing building in a nice neighbourhood. Really beautiful room and balcony:) Owner is lovely and very helpful! Will definitely stay again!
The whole hostel smelt very very strongly of fresh and stale cigarette smoke. We had to open our windows just to stop our room from filling up with smoke, however this let in traffic noise and fumes. Our bathroom was particularly awful when we arrived. It stank of drains. Improved over time. The money we paid per night didn't reflect the services we received.
We had a relaxed stay at Hostal Martina. Martina and her mother are warm, honest people who are discreet and helpful. The Hostal has remained authentic, with spacious and clean rooms. The metro is just around the corner, but also on foot the center of Barcelona is nearby. We highly recommend the place.
the localisation of hotel
Very nice old building with beautifull stained-glass windows and traditional colorful floor tiles. Big rooms with balcony, great location all on walking distance like to city centre/Born/Gracia/Ramblas/metro Tituan. The hostesses, Maria and Martina, were very nice and helpful.
Staff was especially caring with us, always making sure we knew where the sites were and the best way to arrive. The balcony of our room was a treat, lovely stained glass, table and chairs overlooking the trees. The rest of the room and bathroom were spacious, great water pressure in the shower. A TV and a coffee maker would have made the stay perfect.
Beautifull room and breakfast balcony
Very smelly pillows and lack of basic crockery
Very personal service.
The location would be very well connected and safe. The room is clean. I would recomend it for family or more than 3 group of people since the price is very resonable.
Was too cold in the room heater work on and off
The 'original' and 'different' style of the hostel.
The noise (doorbell and intercom) and being woken-up after midnight to answer a question from the staff about our leaving time..
the walls are very thin. You hear everything what happens around. It's difficult to sleep.
beautiful hostel with a very friendly and helpful host
The location was brilliant and the family owners were incredibly helpful and respectful of privacy.
Lovely terrace. Simple, but comfortable accommodation, close to mass transit, walkable to points of interest including restaurants and supermercats.
Price was reasonable within Barcelona's market, but still very expensive for low amenity lodging. Difficult to get a good night's sleep due to a choice between fresh air or city noise. Very loud.
Friendly and willing to help staff. Location is close to metro, walking distance to the very city centre, relatively quiet. Old beatuful building with historical atmosphere.
Nice location,English speaking staff/owner which is very rare in Spain. Spacious room, with enough room to move aroubd, nice balcony and close to city centre/Ramblas/metro tituan.
(Considering myself to be a very well travelled guy.)...Oh I only wish the first day when I arrived Ms Martina would have said/asked "Anil would you like to make the payment now" or "Would you like to oay by Card or/Cash" instead of " ok,payment for the room" which was very harsh and sounded very Rude.... But then I realised I am in Spain can't expect politeness from them as once they dressup n done with Makeup(men/women) they feel they are the Best:-) .... But yes, won't mind staying there again which will be just for location and if I get better price as It can be really a cheap if booked in advance...
The location was good. You can walk to see places of interest. Wi-fi was good.
5 nights. Poor room, poor service, careless attitude. Be aware u r getting an overpriced backpackers place.
The hotel is a cute guest -house within a nice building.
Location is terrible, with trash bins right under the room and some wild nightclub next to it. It was impossible to get a good night sleep. The room was not cleaned for 2 days. The reception is only open during specific hours of the day.
The décor was tasteful and restrained (mainly white in colour with interesting original features) and the room was a good size. The balcony was the star attraction though - spacious, bright, enclosed if you preferred but capable of being fully opened to the elements. The broad leaf trees provide an element of privacy, although Bailen wasn't a busy street during our visit. All in all, the apartment was very good value for money.
There was a strong smell of the drains whenever the toilet was flushed; but then this aroma seems to be ever-present on some of the streets, so it's probably a problem with the civic infrastructure as much as with the building. One thing to note - Martina seems to be a very busy lady as almost all the time we were there, the office was empty. This could be an issue if you have an urgent problem, although in fairness she does supply a mobile phone no.
