The studio on the roof in a fantastic location with everything provided is my greatest find in 40 years of travelling. Moni is a lovely and attentive host. Internet is now there. The buses are right there.
There is no reception. I could not get replies to e mails. I think this is easily fixed.
The rate is very good. The landlord couple very nice people. Good terrace where you can have breakfast and view part of Alhambra palace.
In the high hill of Albayzin. If only staying for weekend not good choice since you will spend a lot time looking around for directions in the labyrinths.
Very kindly people. I arrived at midnight and they came and explained me the sightseeings of the town. I parked my car at a public parking place and the owner picked me up by his motorcycle, because he wanted to know if this parking space is sure. Breakfast on the roof (the have a little winter garden, but you can also take your breakfast outside with a good view to Alhambra and the old town. Perfect!!! (If you want to come back from the center of the city, just take a bus or a taxi, or you can walk the steps upside). Very good bus connections even at 11 p.m.!
I loved this pension. For the price we paid I cannot fault it. The owners called to see if we had arrived in Granada as it was past our arrival time and they came to show us the way, (it is very easy to get lost driving in Granada). It is very clean and the roof top terrace is wonderful. It was nice to sit and relax in the cool mornings on the terrace, surrounded by grapevines and lots of plants and watch the sun rise. We will definitely be staying again next time we visit Granada. The kitchen was available 24 hours and the owners are super friendly. It was the perfect place for us!
It was good the environment there, the owner's hopitality and advice and the possibility to use the washing machine was amazing for people that travel around Andalucia.
I can recommend this hostal anyway but it would have been better if there had been the AC and a more internation breakfast.
We (4 couples) stayed here one night during our 5-day Andalusia motorcycle trip. The biggest plus was a safe parking for only 5 EUR per motorcycle and very hospitable and helpful hosts arranged us restaurant for dinner and the tickets for flamenco show. The Albaizin itself is an amazing area and the Alhambra is just a 15-20 min. walk away.
Although we booked 4 double rooms with privat bathroom in hostal we were accomodated in one ground floor appartment on Paradeno (?) street (~ 200 m from hostal) which is one of the liveliest streets of Albaysin quarter with many restaurants and bars and we could forget about good sleep and rooftop views to Alhambra. The appartment itself was ok with kitchen and all necessary tablewar but there were only 1 room with privat bathroom in it (for other 3 rooms has 2 shared bathrooms in corridor) and because of Santa Cruce day fiesta there were quite noisy in the street. Appartment itself was clean but one girl despite of it was biten by flea. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but the stay in hostal would be more nice.
If you want to experience"The Albizin" then book a stay. Easy enough to find and park in secure gar aging. Walk, bus or taxi and enjoy Granada
Fantastic location in the Albaicin barrio -- which, contrary to what I'd read, seemed safe and friendly. From the hostal's rooftop terrace you can look across and watch the sun rise over the Alhambra. Easy bus ride into the city center. Moni and Marisol, the owners are simply lovely. They don't speak English, but when our Spanish failed us, Moni leapt into pantomime and all was made clear. His and Marisol's description of a trip to Morocco, and what we should NOT do, was priceless. (Moni is just starting English lessons, but I doubt that will dampen his acting enthusiasm.) They don't live on the premises, but are just a few minutes away. You may need to call them when you arrive to be let in. We arrived late at night, with a nasty taxi driver who tried to dump us off outside the neighborhood. One of us managed to rouse a neighbor who called them; they came immediately on motorbike, and Marisol put up a valiant verbal fight with the cabbie, who still ripped us off -- but we found it an interesting start to our visit. You can use the kitchen any time, day or night. Bread and jam and the like are always available, along with coffee (make it yourself), teas, juices. You can cook there if you wish, and also use the washer/dryer on the terrace (if you can figure out how to open the dryer door...)
Friendliest owners, incredibly helpful, and made us feel very welcome.
