I really should have believed the negative reviews for this place. And I have to finally suspect the validity of the booking.com reviews. Can hotels post bogus reviews? I would rate the Nou Raval about 2 or 3. If you've watched a movie with a seedy hotel in the red light district that rents by the hour, then you get the look of this place. We normally stay at hostels or hotels with modest prices in downtowns. Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, Switzerland, Austria, and we are we are very tolerant of cheap rooms. When I was told to pay at check in for all 4 nights I should have stopped and thought a moment. Stupid me did as requested. After seeing room, I was so embarrassed to have booked this, and wife wanted to walk out. She tried very hard, but was refused refund. So we were stuck there for 4 nights. Room was fairly shocking to walk into. Wish I could post pictures. Door knob is a gold interior house handset. Screws were so loose it was literally half falling off. I took it apart and used the key to tighten the phillips screws that were about 1/4" loose. Blue comforters have many large dark stains, that looked like come stains. White towels had dark stains on them. Bed sheets had a few hairs. Very old painted yellow walls have a lot of black rub marks. Drape was a ragged old piece of cloth. Clothes cabinet coming apart at the seams. Air cond works, but noisy and hasn't been cleaned in ages, with fur growing on it. . Fridge works but so noisy I turned it off each night. Shower has no where but floor to put soap. That's enough for now. Really depressing room. Cleaning lady does what she can, but the owner really neglects the place. Street is quite busy with homeless guys. Few minute walk to la rambla street where we watched hookers for an hour or so for entertainment. They also walk up la hospital street towards hotel. Not really scary street, but also not comfortable. For this price range, Please stay well outside the Rambla area and pay the same.
Habitaciones muy pequeñas
firstly don't go here if you can't drag your bags up many flights of stairs, no lift. The room facilities are very basic you are lucky if there is a rod in the broken thing they call a wardrobe to hang any clothes on. I asked and no the cleaner does not have a vacuum cleaner and it is obvious as the place is very dirty, I think they just mop the floor and wipe the basin and call it done. I had to personally clean the air conditioner filter to get it to work sufficiently, basically they are obviously too lazy to fix or clean anything or provide any decent room furniture, let's face it its not expensive these days. Don't bother with the breakfast as its a coffee juice and croissant. We would have gone elsewhere but it was too late to find alternate accom.
Staff don`t know english language very well. Breakfast for 5 euro: juice, coffee and croissant, too much for that! Bathroom wasn`t comfortable
The location and price were right Front door staff were helpful and spoke good English
The street noise was harsh. Could hear other guests coming and going, which was bothersome
wifi in room
there is no lift - I needed to to climb with my heavy luggage to 5th floor on narrow staircase - very, very tireing room and towels were dirty definitelly too high price for offered value
Toilets Very very small rooms Air conditioning system
Proximity to La rambla ,air con fridge.
No toilet in room noise from street at night, no lift and lots of stairs.located in what felt like a bit if a dodgey area in dark.
The place is convenient
The room is too small, hard to move around
very close to Las Ramblas
very small room, very very basic, small bed, would not stay again
Location WiFi Price
Comfort WC Furniture Noise
Rooms are very dirty even after cleaning
It is max 10 min to la rambla street
we had no window to outside, no vent hole in toilet, it was small, doesn't look very clean, old and there were always noise of some kind of machine, price was too expensive compared to quality.
in the middle of the city
a noicy street
If you want to rough it, drunken student vibe, go here. If you want a bit more class/sleep this is not for you. The price would indicate this of course. Also fire safety was not considered when making this building. Quite a concern up there on the 3rd floor.
Great location, the day-time staff was so kind and nice. You'll get what you've paid for.
The night time staff was terrible. That guy was never sober. Room isn't soundproof at all. Funny smell in the room.
Very close to Las Ramblas
I arrived at 14.10 and the room was not ready til 15.00.i had to leave the belongings and walk for an hour.
We stayed at this hotel for 5 days. The staff member we had during the day for 3 of those 5 days was very helpful and spoke English quite well.
Where to start! If you can't be bothered reading this, just read my summary at the bottom. The room was so small, it would have struggled to fit a dwarf in the triple room we had! The building was old and run down. The bathroom was so small you could barely sit on the toilet seat comfortably. Worst of all however, were the rest of the staff members. None of them spoke English... at all! Although we tried to be polite by greeting them and asking if they spoke English in Spanish, they'd just start rambling off in Spanish. One staff member in particular however, was the worst person I have ever met in my life! Never were we informed that we could not have guests visit our room. Yet when I attempted to bring a friend home he wouldn't let me in. I tried to ask him why and he told me to shut up, clearly I got upset at his response and he starts speaking to me in French!! (I speak English, Greek and Italian fluently and basic Spanish incase I sound like and arrogant prick that expects everyone to speak English fluently). The next night I kept the key as I was walking out and he chased me and grabbed me to get the room key off me. Summary: DO NOT STAY HERE... EVER!!
Our stay at the hotel was pretty good. The staff was helpful and nice. The location is awesome, you are 3 minutes off La Rambla. The staff speaks moderate English.
The room is old, with all the consequences. We had to switch rooms because our a/c was leaking water. That was handled well though.
location, near Rambala and in the same time cheap shops around. good aircondition and WIFI, the morning staff was great and very welcomed. shared WC not bad relativly with other hostels. good TV channels "only one English out of 100"
The night shift guy can't speak any English Word. the stairs is difficult and way after first floor is strange. how ever the room is the best thing and good for such vaue of money, I will go there again.
The hotel is located in a great spot, very close to La Ramblas street. The wifi is excellent and there is 24/7 front desk service.
The shared bathroom was filthy. The floor of our room was very dirty, constantly having to wipe off our feet. The AC was so cold and the remote control didn't work. When we asked the front desk for assistance he agreed but never did anything about it. We only had a sheet to sleep with and froze the three nights we were there.
- Central location - Friendly staff - Decent price
Location is fantastic
Rooms were poor quality had a neglected feeling about it. Very noisy and beds were uncomfortable
