Hostal Putxet  

The staff is really nice. When we returned on Saturday night to find that our first floor room was extremely loud due to a nearby club, the staff actually moved us to a different room on the highest level. This room, 306, was a huge improvement from the first room, and not just in noise level. It was significantly bigger (normal budget hotel size) and had an average sized bathroom that was not grungy. I think this is the room they use in their advertisement photos. It was a fine room. If we hadn't originally been put in a different and much less nice room, I would have thought it was a perfectly okay hotel. Unfortunately, I think more rooms are like the first one we had then the one we transferred to. I do, however, very much appreciate the staff's willingness to relocate us. I've been in other similar situations where we've simply been told to deal with it, so their willingness to help was commendable.

The first room they put us in was so tiny. Even with the double bed pressed all the way against the wall, there wasn't even enough floor space to open a carry-on size suitcase. The bathroom was also tiny, with the toilet and the shower sharing a compartment. Additionally, the shower was really grungy. I wouldn't go in it without shoes, and it was so small you couldn't turn around in it. (And I'm a very small person.) Also, some kind of club has opened up near the hotel, and on Saturday night, the room, which was one the first floor was terribly loud. And the ac is not individually controlled and only comes on for a few hours at a time every now and then, so you are basically forced to open your windows, which makes it even noisier. Location-wise, it's close to the metro line that most sights are on, but it's not close to any actual sights except Park Guell. Definitely not worth the money, but Barcelona is a hard place to find a hotel room on a weekend, so it was the best we could do. I wouldn't stay here again.

The receptionisits were all friendly.

There was no real washroom, contrary to the advertisement. The toilet was in the shower stall. The shower floor was covered with mildew and the drain was clogged. The mattress was very uncomfortable. The room was very small but that was somewhat expected for the price.

Staff was friendly and relaxed and room service was not disturbing at all.

Hot water was not available at all times, especially during late evenings.

Bathroom is little yet practical; the room is noisy due to the thikness of the wall so that you can hear everything from neighbouring rooms....for whom having light sleep I reccomand a good pair of ears plugs; no catering or restaurant services in the hostal, only vending machine for snacks and drinks

Very small room, noisy, wifi is almost dead. And... Awful automate instead of reseption! We spent around 30 min to get our key. Would never recomend.

Not much! There is no lift and only a narrow staircase. Lights on some floors just flickered and made it rather dangerous at night. we were glad we were on the 2nd floor. Basically you got a bed and a shower/toilet. Very noisy as walls were less than paper-thin OR the clientele have no consideration about others. We had to complain about the excessive noise which continued well after 2am!! Shit hotel!!! Overpriced and should be dropped from your website.

The internet signal was poor and at most times didnt work! To charge 5 euros as a deposit for the remote for the tv was a bit of a cheek. Suggest they get BBc News channel for english speaking guests.

Some rooms are unbearable due to central AC outside fan noise. Fortunately we could change it for a bigger and better one, which was very comfortable.

The staff is at everybody's disposal to help and give information all the time (24 hours). The room is new and comfortable. It's near a metro station that is 4 stations distant of Catalunya Square. And it's cheap. The bathroom has a good size and the shower has a box and not curtains

I didn't have any problem, but maybe someone wouldn't like that it doesn't have an elevator and the room is not big,
