Hostal Rural Las Terrazas de la Alpujarra  

The location is great. The welcome was very warm. We got maps for our walks and advice on where to go.

The bed was a little hard for my taste but still comfortable.

We had a very good welcome despite not being able to communicate fully with each other. Our room was small but comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was simple but very good (with the family parrot chirping volubly in the background!) and other meals could be had two minutes along the street in a couple of good restaurants serving local food at very reasonable prices. Francisco was very helpful with photocopies of super walks in the area. There is a tiny well stocked supermarket just across from the hostal which sells an amazing range of things and serves also as the post office. Parking is either on the tiny square or the road along to the hostal. Maggie and Peter.

Parking could be difficult in the summer with more tourists around in the village.

Absolutely great. The host and his family are wonderful, warm people. They have several hiking routes available and are very helpful. Highly recommended!

There was a constant fire in the fireplace, friendly staff, good food, great location and hiking.

I liked the autenticity and rural character. I liked also the atmosphere and the friendliness of the owner.

It was very small of a room and the bed was not comfortable.

We loved the charming terrace with tables overlooking the mountainbike. Fantastic views. It was simple but really nice and quaint. Not.hing more needed.

Would be nice if they had bottled water to sell and not just cups of tap water, and if they had the official map of the routes that we picked up in another hotel more than halfway into the trip.

This hostel was lovely, very spanish and the owners very beautiful couple they made you very totally welcome. Beautiful views and It is a home away from home would stay again.

Excellent situation with easy parking. Fantastic views from the garden terrace and the sun terraces above. Friendly owners. Must be one of the best hostals in Spain. This was our third visit in 3 months and we will definitely be back. Francisco and Maria feel like old friends and cannot do enough to help people.

everything was perfect. the views, the friendliness of the hosts, the surroundings and the proximity to shops and restaurants. it was in A very tranquill setting with A beautifull terrace on which was served breakfast - to the accompanyment of chico the talking parrot! A fantastic stay and we will be going there again.

Location, location, location! Can't beat it. And the owners were lovely.

Not the hotel's fault... but the weather was incredibly hot when we were there and the area is not geared up for high temperatures. There was no air con, not even fans in the bedrooms, and so no sleep at all... Not a very good experience so will have to go back when the weather cools down.

The owner was very kind and helpful, and even though we didn't speak the same language, he was very easy to work with. We loved our room with it's little balcony looking out onto the street. It was very comfortable, very attractive, spectacular views, and we had a delightful stay. It was our favourite place to stay on the whole trip.

Beautiful views from terraces and garden. Cosy public rooms. Attentive and friendly owners. Very restful atmosphere and easy parking adjacent.

A wonderful place to stay. We arrived having been travelling around Spain for 4 weeks and it felt like coming home. Francisco and his wife make you feel so welcome although they speak no English. It was easy to find with our satnav and there was easy free parking nearby. It is a charming traditional old house. Bubion is one of the tiny villages of white houses clinging to the mountainside with tiny narrow streets. There was no lift. (I don’t think anywhere in Bubion has a lift). Our room was on the 2nd floor and was lovely. It had a huge window in 2 of the walls. One with a view of the snow topped Sierra Nevada and one looking up the little street. The room was very simple with curtains and bedcovers in the look of the traditional woven materials – very pretty. The room was small but perfectly adequate. The beds were comfy, there was a side table and a chair and a wardrobe. The bathroom was good with a bidet and hair dryer and special little bars of soap with mountain herbs. The bath was good with a good shower. The shower curtain was fabric but it was not one of those awful ones that cling. The room was spotlessly clean. There was no telly or Wi-Fi in the rooms but downstairs was a large room spilling out onto a beautiful terrace. This is where it all happens. Breakfast – simple (not free but cheap) and excellent. There is a comfy sofa and chairs and a huge telly and a great place to sit for Wi-Fi connection. There are a huge number of books about the area in English and novels. Francisco also has information on many wonderful walks and will print out info for you. The terrace is a joy. It looks out down over the valley. The view is quite amazing. There are plants growing and a fountain with fish and a talking parrot. There is also a terrace on the 1st floor and 2nd floor.

A very welcoming hostel in a friendly village. Excellent location with wonderful views from the large terraces. Extremely helpful owners. Nearby Teide restaurant not to be missed.

The owners are very friendly and helpful, though communications can be difficult at times due to our lack of Spanish and their lack of English! The room was basic but adequate and the beds were comfortable. The views from the terrace are excellent. There is adequate parking close by, and the locals park sensibly. If you like steep ground, this area is for you! If you want evening meals, walk a very short distance up the main road to Restaurante Teide where the food is excellent and the owners very friendly, with good English.

Our only slightly negative comment is that breakfast is very basic, but there is a small shop almost next door to supplement your rations. This is not really a criticism, as the establishment is a hostal, not a hotel.
