This recently renovated guesthouse is located in Madrid’s Maravillas district, just a stone's throw from some of the most popular attractions and served well by public transport links.

The guesthouse has been opening its doors to guests for over 50 years. Its central location allows easy access on foot to many sightseeing and cultural attractions like the art galleries, parks and gardens and the fashionable shopping districts.

Hotel information

The property is housed in an 18th century building currently undergoing an extensive renovation program. The works affect the aesthetics of the access to the building. However, the services offered to the clients remain intact.

Area information

Hostal Santo Domingo is situated 100 metres away from Madrid’s famous Gran Vía and Plaza de Callao, where all of the city’s most popular theatres are located, including El Capitol, el Movistar and Lope de Vega. The superb central location means that most of this stunning city’s sights and tourist attractions are within easy walking distance.

Just behind Hostal Santo Domingo are the districts of Chueca and Malasaña, which are both very popular for their bars and their bohemian multicultural atmospheres. The most stylish and fashionable shops and restaurants are also nearby.

Heading towards the city centre, you will find the most important sights, monuments and attractions of the historic district of Madrid de los Austrias. These attractions include Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and El Palacio Real.

Puerta del Sol is one of the busiest and most well known places in Madrid. The square contains the famous clock whose bells mark the traditional eating of the Twelve Grapes and the beginning of a new year.

El Palacio Real is a Spanish royal palace which was once a hunting pavilion and became an alternative residence of the kings of Spain until the death of Alfonso XII, who died in the palace. Francisco Franco lived in the palace after the Spanish Civil War. Since Franco's death, the palace has been used as a residence for visiting heads of state.

The manager, Juan, was excellent: friendly, helpful and spoke perfect English. There was free internet access. The location is perfect and about 200 metres from Callo metro station.

The outside facade and walls look in poor state but the inside is very nice.

the location and friendliness of the staff. there were good facilties and it was very state of the art/modern to which i was very suprised. quite luxurious for a hostal. i travel to madrid every summer working with pueblo ingles programme teahing english and i would deffinatley recommend this hostal.

The place is clean and the staff is very friendly.

The location is awful. The street is full of homeless people and prostitutes. I would not stay there again because of the surroundings.

Friendly staff, free use of PC with internet, central location with little noise from streets, clean room with power shower!

It may be disappointing for travelers who expect a bright room with nice view, but this hostal is in the central location. What do you expect?

Located steps from Gran Via. Staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Funky, well-appointed rooms; great shower!

Could be a bit noisy, but I was there during Gay Pride weekend and the entire city was a rollicking, all-night party. I still slept fine.

Convenient location for town centre ,cleanliness of hotel , bright & cheerful room decoration, friendliness of staff and comfort.Value for money and general quietness of room.
