    The location is perfect.

The air conditioning didn't work very well and it was very hot in Madrid.

First, it was really loud in my room, after that, nice personal change my room. So it was pretty good. However this is the city center

very convenient location at a few metres from Puerta del Sol very clean rooms with a nice shower friendly staff who were very patient with my limited knowledge of the Spanish knowlodge

there is an additional charge to use the air conditioner of 3 euros per day which seems a lot to me (I didn't use it as weather was not so great) if you're a light sleeper you should find a more remote location as there is quite some street noise throughout the night and early morning

    Staff, location, clean, comfy, secure.

Sometimes the elevator door would not be closed, making it temporarily inoperable.

Perfect place to stay. 5 minutes walk from the metro station Sol, 5 minutes walk from Plaza Santa Ana. Hotel is clean, comfortable, not noisy. Internet is fast and works without interruptions. People are very friendly (for instance Rubén from the reception).

Very central location. We were given an "interior room" ("habitacion interior") with a window opening to a very small courtyard. As a result: no views but also no street noise! The guy at the reception (Ruben from Uruguay) is a bit weird, but not in a bad manner.

Beds and matresses are not top quality, after three nights you will start noticing that. Still this was an excellent place to stay for the price we paid.

The staff was very helpful and welcoming, they kept our bags while we roamed the city until we took our flight. The location is fantastic, 50 meters from Puerta del Sol and just 3 min from the Plaza Mayor. Every major atraction is a max of 15 min walking. The price was great

The rooms are a bit small, but it's fine if you don't spend much time there

Amazing location in a historical building. Nice staff : very friendly and polite, helpful as they could be. The room was cleaned daily, however, do not expect any shampoo or shower gel replacements. Wi-Fi was stable enough in the room and lobby. As to the breakfast, I paid for it but I guess it's not that worth it. Pan tostado, jam+butter/tomato+olive oil, coffee and orange juice in a nearby café. It was quite nice but I could have paid more or less the same sum on site and choose something new every day. Anyway, lots of places to eat around the hostel, you won't remain hungry.

Noise: it's not that much about Sol, but about paper-thin walls. I could hear every word of people around and downstairs.

The location was really good. Near walking distance to Puerta del Sol and other famous places.

The breakfast was served in another building and it could have been better.

Hostal Veracruz is very nice and has clean rooms with AC and own bathrooms. It is very close to Sol, so really in very center of Madrid and Spain. Everything is in walking distance or else the metro and cercanias are near by (at Sol). You are in the thick of the nightlife of Madrid and of the shopping center. You can have a nice breakfast in de Museo del Jámon next door. Unobtrusive but friendly personnel. This really a nice place to stay.

Being in the very center of Madrid there is some street noise. Though this can be blocked out completely by the sound proof windows and the wooden shutters.

Very comfortable queen sized bed, clean personal bathroom, free WiFi, and great staff.

My room was on the 2nd floor of a busy street and was very loud. Bring earplugs.

The hotel is a block away from Puetro del Sol, all the attractions in the center of Madrid are within 15-min.-walk at most, so if you stay there you can do without metro, walking will take less time. The internet is reliable. There is a Museo del Jamon downstairs, which is a good economical eating place. It also gives you a romantic feeling of living in the old town: there are balcony doors typical for Spain, and if you live on the 4th floor you get a beautiful view on the roofs of the surrounding houses. The staff is very friendly and speaks English.

It's a tourist part of the city, which means in Spain a lot of noise until 3 am and stinking tobacco. The problem is solved by shutting the windows and switching on the air-conditioner or going downstairs and joining the crowd. I won't stay in the center of any Spanish city again because of that. About the hotel: the beds were a little too short, so my feet were dangling in the air. There's no big sign: the entrance is right next to Museo del Jamon.
