Score from 599 reviews Excellent
Cost reasonable with exception of weekends. Very quiet and great bed so I slept very well. Jacuzzi and leisure area really nice.
Restaurant doesn't open until 8pm. I was hungry!!!!!!! Bedroom has numerous lights with numerous light switches - some architect lost the run of himself!!!
The location is good, the rooms are big,
Service was not the best, rooms were not cleaned sometimes, they missed cleaning my room when i asked them to do it they gave me the sheets tobchange it myself! Male staff are nice, female ones are rude
The hotel is in excellent location, gay friendly and everything there was perfect
Seriously nothing was bad there
There is no denying it is a gay hotel, although I was there last week, Mid January, and it was more of a mixed crowd. Honestly didn't get the metro at any point over the weekend that I stayed. Casa Batllo was literally 'around the corner' and so many bars and cafes around the hotel. The clubs and bear bars are only a two minute walk away. The hotel itself was very clean, quiet and very welcoming staff, especially Andre.
The wifi played up at the start of my stay and it took a while to get started, but this is such a minor detail, and I cant deny this is a great hotel :D.
The staff as I said is friendly, location excellent, clean and comfortable.
The huge amount of pornography in the room. I have nothing against gay hotels, as it is this one, but once you're in the room, pictures of semi naked men all around is far too much. You will find brochures everywhere with the "hottest" of the gay night of Barcelona, but the vast majority is obscene propaganda of places where you can enjoy gay promiscuity in every sense of the word. I believe that the way it is, it's an insult even to gay couple, for there are no brochures on museums, walks, turistic areas or anything like that. Even the safe in the room is covered with pictures of semi naked men! Just too much, really. I refuse to believe that the "gay world" is only about promiscuity, and other things that I'd be embarrassed to mention here that I found in those brochures. I truly believe that they can do it much better with less appeal to obscenity as it is. I would never stay in that place again, which is a pity, once it is a fine hotel, unless they could turn the room in a less obscene room.
Close to Metro, restaurants cafe's and bars. Easy to get about. Friendly staff, comfortable room and free wifi! Roof top terrace was a bonus
View from the room! Although I was made aware there was no view (just a wall). I may not have liked this during a summer visit when I may wish to sit at a balcony and street watch! Would have been nice to have facility to make coffee.
Stayed 4 nights , from arrival to the last day the deal was very good, especially a public relations guy with glasses giving a treatment as a superior category hotel , friendly , attentive at all times inclined to help . The room access to a very quiet for being located in the city center patio. Spacious and with a rather modern decor offers all the necessary amenities.
good value for money, good service, nice rooms
internet login was too complicated
Super gay friendly
Location, value for money, relaxed setting, quiet room.
Everything. Staff very friendly and helpful at providing information about the city, places to visit, options for transportation. Rooms are very confortable and clean.
Very friendly and helpful staff
Well liked everything about the hotel, location, staff, facilities
Upgrade to suite on 7th floor - fabulous! Ground floor bar was great for a night cap Central location - minutes from Las Ramblas
Arrived at 12 noon and asked to come back at 2.00 pm as rooms not ready. Came back at 5.00 pm and rooms still not ready. Was given a free upgrade No shower facilities or towels to use after hotel massage. Had to dress with oil on skin Hotel is very dark throughout - lighting is minimal
Very good location, and room quiet at night
Room was a bit cramped with no power sockets near the mirror
The location, the value for money at a busy time of year. The size of the room and the view from the balcony!
it was good the location, the best for the gay scene all around the hotel.
do not have a drink in the expensive bar of the hotel, coz in all the other bars around prices are half. in our room the floor was very bad, not real privacy in the toilet coz you can hear everything from the room, not real privacy in the room because of the big windows (floor to ceiling) in the all room, shower included..where all the people in the other room can see you. terrible was the wifi! every 30 sec it disconnect! it was impossible to use! for what this hotel gave me, i will choose something else next time.
Really very worthwhile ! hosters are very helpful, is particularly highlight the attention of your public relations Adria , the room is excellent , large and comfortable, and the bathroom. In addition, the hotel is in the Eixample , a few minutes from the metro and Plaza Catalunya
Nothing bad to say
Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast.
Restaurant closed on Sunday
really worth it! the hosters are really helpful and the room is excellent, big and comfortable, as well as the bathroom. Besides, it locates near the l'exiample, easy to access to the metro
Location, comfort, facilities and above all the hospitality and friendliness of the staff , which was excellent,
Breakfast, low quality of food provided, limited choice and on my last day no bacon was available, and when i asked why not was told the supplier had forgotten to bring any. For a hotel of this quality and standing, it is being let down by the breakfast it supplies. Would be beneficial if the breakfast suppliers could be changed. I stay at Axel 3 or 4 times a year and breakfast standard never changes, and always a dissappointment.
Taxi offered by the receptionist charged twice extra for the luggage. When I confront him with that, he explained to me that it was the new law. I have been taking taxis from the street across the hotel the whole week (and three times to the airport with luggage) and they never charged me that, only the extra charge for using the highway.
location is close to the centre but quiet enough to be an residental area... plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from. magnificent rooftop wifh hot tub. daniel is a great receptionist - like his collegues!
the rooms at the backside are rather small. better ask for a room facing the street
Ity is nit the first time that my wife and I have stayed at this Hotel again facilities and sevice exceeded our expectations .
Had a fantastic stay in the axel hotel, very comfortable, great room and staff where all friendly. Daniel at recption in paticular was extremely helpful with anything we needed, every hotel should have a daniel!!
