It was so very close to the Montjuic area of Barcelona. It was affordable for a family of 4, compared to paying for 2 rooms in other hotels. And it was just 2 blocks from the Metro subway and city busses. Our family enjoyed walking the grounds of Montjuic, cable car ride to the castle, restaurants/shopping at the Arena, and the "Magic Fountain" at night. We highly recommend it for families traveling with children. We would gladly stay at Hotel Azul again!

The toilet was not clean but they disputed my claim initially. No one would come to check as they had only one person at reception who could not leave that area. Only after my insistence did the person come up for a very short time and agreed with my claim.

It was easy to find as the bus from the aerport passed by. The reception chap could not have been more helpful. I had my wallet stolen on the airoplane and he dialled home for me so I could cancel my cards. We were upgraded to a suite for the same money and was sorry we were not spending more time there as we were leaving for a party in the countryside.

Our room was spacious with the added benefit of a fridge and hob. The room was spotless, beds were comfortable, our towels were changed daily, various toileteries were provided including a razor, ideal if you bring hand luggage only. The staff were polite, professional, friendly and helpful. It is located on a busy road but the double glazing ensured you were not bothered by the noise of traffic. The location is a short walk to the metro station, on the normal bus route and tour bus route which made it ideal to get around and sightsee. The dining area was compact, breakfast was continental. On the landing were 2 extra large sofas where you could relax.

The room had a kitchenette in the family room which was a nice extra, not mentioned anywhere. Spotlessly clean. Good floors. TV in both rooms in the family room. The location unbeatable with Plaza de España, Magic Fountains, shopping mall Las Arenas and CaixaForum with its free entrance to some of the most exclusive exhibitions (that weekend it was Delacroix and Goya) only a few min away. A fantastic cafeteria a few steps away, breakfast for 2 for 5 euros, and delicious bakery at that! Cheap parking at the hotel (upon reservation) 14 euros per day. The staff extremely friendly, very fast check-in and out. Was a bit hot. Located on a main street, very noisy even with double glazed windows but we knew it in advance. The television set in one of the rooms had a weird remote control, bad signal, while the other one was OK. A coat hanger at the entrance and not only inside the wardrobe in the bedroom would be nice, even a simple one with some hooks. :)

Good value for money if you're not too picky. Good location, walking distance from plaza Espanya, where all the buses to the airport stop. I was nice to have free wifi and free drinks in the minibar. Breakfast in the hotel is a little overpriced, I wouldn't recommend to take it, there are plenty of cafes nearby where you can get fresh bakery/or sandwiches with coffee for less money and better quality. My choice of this hotel was based on price and location. I booked a Twin room, I even wrote them an email since it was very important for me, but when we arrived we found a double bed, and when I asked to change room I was told the hotel was fully booked for the next 2 days, disappointed! They should pay more attention when assigning rooms. Also the walls and doors are really thin, you can hear everything what's going on in the the corridor and nearby rooms, since we were staying in the weekend I was awaked every time around 3am by people screaming and shouting in the corridor and shutting doors.

Wifi, position, price, staff very good The room looks old and to be very honest not really clean in some places, as if it was cleaned quickly and not thoroughly. Breakfast should be included in the price of the room, it is just too unjustifiably expensive.

An excellent choice with good location & nice room condition. I didn't expect this much, but it was a really noce room. My room had a seperate bedroom, so if there had been a company with me it would have been really nice. Hot water temperature in the shower was not hot enough.

The best hotel I stayed during my trip in Spain!!! The staffs couldn't be more helpful! They speak good English and know most of the tourism information! And the room is much bigger than I expected! It's really an apartment. The location is also perfect, five minutes walking to Plaça d'Espanya where you can take the metro to everywhere you want, and it's also the first stop of aerobus a1 and a2. I will definitely recommend this hotel!

The staff were helpful. Metro l3 and l1 is nearby and it can take you to the major tourist location and the central station. All in all, the hotel is not located in the city center but conveniently connected. The rooms facing the street could be a bit noisy during busy times.

Conclusion : Good hotel and services. Excellent locations nearby (2 minutes walk): Placa Espanya,Magic Fountains, restaurants, stores, metro, just 3 metro stops from the beach, bus (city and airport), a big Shopping Mall, Stops for the 2 City Tour Bus. Decent hotel, clean rooms, small cooler in the room, nice bed, quiet. It’s ok if you just want to sleep .We didn't had breakfast included, but nearby was a pub with breakfast from 2E. We went there in November and the weather was 20 degrees and the hotel manager has closed the Air condition in the whole building, because the weather should normally be lower. The room was very hot because the ventilation was not enough to lower the temperature and the outside window cannot be opened because the handle was missing. All the windows in the hotels are without a handle. The solution was to request a handle from the reception and I could open the window, but this lead to another problem: traffic noise. The Hotel is located near a big and busy road and the traffic is intensive until 12 in the night and starts at 5 o’clock in the morning.

Excellent location near the Plaza Espanya and buses, metro etc.The kind male receptionist did what he could to allow us our room at 10am, despite it normally being from 2pm. (We had arrived from a cruise ship early in the morning and needed to leave our baggage and freshion up a bit before being out all day). The breakfast was a delicious, large- choice buffet. Definitely worth having. The room was like a furnice on our arrival. We couldn't alter the air conditioning and were told it wasn't working as it was too cold outside. Luckily the housemaid found us the key to open the window so we could air the room and which we left open all night too, despite the traffic noise. Ear plugs are a must if you open the windows... Very reluctantly, the night receptionist made us a cup of tea the first night (which he wasn't supposed to do apparently;not supposed to leave the reception). I'd have happily done it myself had he allowed me. The second night we didn't dare ask. Facilities in the room for this would have been much appreciated.

The room was huge and comfortable. We booked for a night but we wanted wanted to extend but we could not get the first night price and the website price was not available. We end up paying a lot . This is a good hotel and if you want to book for the hotel and stay for a few days, be sure to book in advance as this hotel is really amazingly comfortable! Will stay again but not at hotel price list but the website price list...

“while this isn't a 'designer boutique' style hotel- everything is comfortable, huge scale- including the beds- and the staff are very attentive. there is no feeling that their other business- conferences/ meetings/ parties impinges in any way on the hotel experience of guests. The indoor pool was a bonus in a winter visit. Chosen because of it's proximity to the Palau Nacional / MNAC. enabling us to spend hours with the Romanesque collection.” D, London |
