Money can not buy the simplicity and natural tranquility, just being there is magic.the lovely staff, food, hotel were all secondary.
The isolation. definitely not an intransit stopover. No cook, receptionist appeared to be the only staff
I loved the seclusion of Humaina, the chance to walk in the Parque Natural from the door, having a cerveza on the terrace at sundown, the very helpful manager, the exceptional value. Some have said food is expensive for what you get. I understand that, but for a small, remote hotel, that can't be getting fresh supplies every day, I think they do well, and I enjoyed my meals very much.
Nothing, really. It would be helpful if there was some information about / map of the Parque Natural Montes de Malaga available. I bought the Spanish one fro 8 euros, which was OK (map was fine, and has a multi-language key), but some basic info available free would help.
The suite was great, the food very good, a great escape to relax and breathe
Perfect location in beautiful mountains. Hotel relaxed with nice touches, good restaurant.Need own transport and Sat nav to find. Great poolside area and shall pool. Very accommodating staff.
Some repairs needed.
staff, infrastructure, value for money
This hotel has a beautiful terrace with all different kinds of trees and flowers and the surrounding natural park invites you to hike or just take walks to see the mountains and all its nature. We came late at night which we wouldn't recommend since the roads are very narrow and there are few or no lights to help you guide your way up the mountain. There are signs though to help you find the hotel but better off going during the day when you can actually see where you're going. Though we arrived very late we were amazingly welcomed by the owner who stayed up late to make sure we had something to eat and drink before we went to bed. We sat out on the pattio and enjoyed amazing home cooked food and very cold beers. The next morning we had a Very nice breakfast as well!
A bit tricky to get there so as we said go there by day and stay a few nights so that you can enjoy the nature!
The beautiful location and the old building. The pool is small but perfect on the terrace. This is truly a peaceful retreat in the fpest in the mountains
There's was a minor hiccup when the hotel muddled our booking which took a little time and worry to rectify - afterwards we sat on the terrace t o have tea which, we were charged for - I think this was missed opportunity for the hotel to make amends slightly disappointing response. They also said that they would e-mail confirmation that the refund had been made, ....three days and still waiting. We will return however as generally everything is good!
We had a lovely stay at Hotel Humaina from 16 June till 20 June 2014. Staff is friendly and helpful. And you can have a good dinner. Although the location of the hotel is isolated, in fact it's only a 35 minutes drive away from Malaga. Nice villages like Comares and the national park El Torcal are also not far away.
Situated in the beautiful Montes de Malaga Hotel Humaina is the place to be for travelers who are looking for peace and quietness. Build between the green hills this charming hotel offers so wonderful views. In the evening only the sounds of nature are audible. If you are looking for partytime, trendy bars, whirlpools and shops. Don't book this hotel but if you want to go back to the nature, want to hear your blood streaming and enjoying the songs of the birds, well go to this place. The owners are very friendly and helpful and you can taste some local cuisine.
The room was very tipical and clean. I really love it. The stuff was very friendly.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the owner who speaks good English, the absolute tranquillity of the location, the brightness of the stars at night, the spacious bedroom, having the use of a large sitting-room/library, the Andalucian tomato puree for breakfast, the sound of water running in to the plunge pool on the patio, good directions from the hotel's website of how to find the place!
It is a very secluded location without any views beyond the wooded valley it is in. As it is high in the mountains we would have liked some views (which I'm sure we would have got if we had walked up to the top of the hill on a circular walk from the hotel.)
We loved the quiet location - we knew what to expect as two of us stayed there some years ago. It may be a bit remote for some but we really enjoyed the seclusion. Nice lounge and bedrooms were fine too.
Sorry to say a bit run down. Bathroom door in one room did not shut properly, bar not well stocked and food ok but a tad pricey. Overall ambience made up for the shortcomings on the whole, especially as there was a crowd of us and we made our own entertainment to some extent, playing guitar in the lounge until late.
Kindness of the staff. The environment of the hotel : calm and nature. The authentic breakfast.
It is really cheap and the location is great for nature lovers.
The hotel is a bit rusty. The infrastructure was old and not very well maintained
The worst hotel I ever found. It is located in a very scary place where there is nobody and no building and the way to go there is scary and dangerous.
Isolate hotel location, hospitality, restaurant service, free parking.
It's chilly in November, second blanket is absolutely necessary. Also nowadays free wifi is de facto a standard option in the hotels.
Very friendly staff. Food good with vegetables available.Good views and walks starting right outside.
The beds were a bit firm for our liking.
Location (in the valley between mountains, in the national nature park) - and we were by car, so described by Shelley (Johannesburg, South Africa) problem was not about us. Staff is very nice and really eager to help: the night we arrived (it was already really midnight) we were offered with a medieval supper (wine, bread and cheese, all of very good quality) - together with hotel decoration was very romantic! And they do have wi-fi even in the rooms now (not for free, but for ridiculous price)
we were given a smoking room and had to pay 20 Euros extra per night for a non smoking room
Friendly staff, small, quiet and comfortable setting.
Distance to Malaga shouldn`t be underestimated. The hotel is quite a way up the hill.
Staff were very friendly
