The Casón del Tormes is in a tranquil area in the heart of Madrid, between Plaza de España and the Royal Palace. Its spacious rooms let in plenty of natural light.
Score from 1695 reviews Excellent
Location was ideal to see sights of Madrid, lots of restaurants and bars within immediate area. If you are looking for luxury this is not the hotel for you, however on a budget it's a really good basic, clean. Bonus use of spa is free to use in the morning.
Didn't replace tea/coffee in room day two or leave more towels.
We arrived on a Sunday morning and in less than 5 mins walk from the metro were at hotel. 3 hours early than check in we only wanted to leave bags while taking a walk but the lovely lady on reception said she had a room ready and has us upstairs in a matter of minutes. It was excellent. Bed was comfortable bath was amazing and free Wi Fi was basic but adequate for our use. All in all I would recommend this hotel and we would return
The room was difficult to heat and the free water was never replenished only there first day. Also a bit of a smell from the water but we noticed that everywhere in Madrid not just this hotel
Super good location. Hotel room was big and clean. Hotel staff was really friendly and helpful. Value for money.
Nothing at all.
the staff in all were amaizing , so kind and to much helpful that you can feel that you stay in your home land.
Location , Location , room size
Free use of the mini bar in the room , meant two small bottles of water for the first day only , several features in the Spa were not funtioning, no water or timer in the sauna.
The location. The Spa.
My room was very small. The room wasn't cleaned properly. I had to complain about this twice. This is the third time I've stayed here and it will probably be my last. I just couldn't believe how small my room was. We also had no view. It was supposed to be a Kings Room. It was hardly fit for a King. I booked this room in September and got a very good rate. I was obviously made to suffer by giving what must've been the worst room in the hotel.
I love it and the room was very accomodating and quiet!
the location was excellent , the metro 3 munite from the hotel , lot restaurant around , I be happy to stay there again , maybe next month :)
Good location, good breakfast, very nice and friendly staff
a bit old rooms
The location of the hotel makes ist perfect for starting a stroll trough town, very, very close to the "Metro", which provides easy access to other parts of the town. It is amidst the "Broadway of Madrid". Once you step onto the street you are in the middle of Madrids vibrating live. Rooms are clean, spaciouswith and very quiet. Breakfast was ok - Jammon Iberico, Salcicchia etc. different kinds of cheese - with lots of fresh squeezed orange juice. We enjoyed it very much.
Really good location. Parking facilities close by.
Internet was free but really slow. The standard of the room/ hotel wasn´t up to four star level. One of the rooms had window facing an inside patio, so there was no natural light at all. It was completely dark even in the middle of the day. There was quite a bit of dust in the room (corners, floor)
free spa, good breakfast, perfect location.
Wifi not that convenient.
crew helpful,nice hotel.
the internet connection speed in the room was weak and expenesive
- localisation - cleanness - the view from the balcony on top floors
- extremely slow internet connection - problems with hot water in the morning (two days in a row) - people at the reception rarely pick up the phone - the size of the room was relatively small - spa facilities are paid, contrary to what was said at check-in; these are open only from 10 am, which makes it impossible to use before a business meeting. - only upon arrival to the spa you learn you need to bring your own towel and flip-flops (otherwise rent ones); in one case, it was impossible to charge the fee to the room, so next time take cash/credit card with you.
Good position and friendly staff.
The spa had strict hours and it wasn't possible to go there in the evening free of charge. The teas and coffees provided in the room weren't enough for three people, even though we specifically asked them to have more teas and more sugar.
A surprisingly good pool and spa facility
The reception and 'restaurant area are a bit bland and uninviting and the rooms ( although comfortable) lack colour and imagination
This hotel was very close to the Plaza de Espana on the Gran Via, and the Metro station, both "Plaza de Espana" and "Santo Domingo" were right there. There were many restaurants near the hotel, besides the hotel restaurant. The starting point of the day tours to Avila & Segovia, to Toledo, and to the Escorial was just around the corner. Everything was very convenient!
One night, the bath water was very brown and sandy. When I told the reception about it the next day, they explained, that it was because of the construction work, and they excused for the inconvenience. I think they should have informed us ahead of time, then I wouldn't have wasted so much time trying to take a bath.
Not a lot breakfast was good romm poky bed ok bathroom light only worked when room lights on fridge with free soft drinks was full with two small bottles of water. Aqua place not open to children till 10 am to mid day they think kids don't want to play in day time. They have two hotels with same name in same area confusion.
Terrible place don't stay there
Perfunctory and unfriendly staff.
The reception staff were amazing and very helpful. Gave us handy tips for getting around Madrid always with a smile.
For a 4* hotel it looked very tired. Could do with an update. Coffee shop very basic for breakfast without any atmosphere.
We were visiting our daughter who is living in Madrid. Very frustrating because it was impossible to get in touch with her. Internet was non existent even though the hotel said it was working.
Wifi was so slow even getting your mail was a headache...
All the hotel staff were friendly and extremely helpful.
The lounge area was poor.
The location of the hotel is excellent. The metro very close to the hotel. Hotel staff very helpful.
Had difficulties with wi-fi
