the pool area and the bar area for eating lunches outside and the seating area in the main hall was a lovely place to relax and unwind. It was all at an excellent standard and i thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel. thank you.
the indoor pool wasnt working so i didnt get to swim as the outdoor pool was too cold. The gym area was basic. There was a shortage of staff at reception and the bar area.
Loved the room, spacious, clean, lovely. Bar and patio area were fun, live music and dancing on Friday night was delightful? Breakfast buffet very good. Near town, great location.
Hotel was beautiful both from the exterior & inside. We were lucky enough to get a corner room which was a fantastic size! Complementary half bottle of red wine greeted us and lovely 'freebies' too. Beautiful room, great pool & gardens and some lovely features. Definitely stay again.
The only thing we didn't like so much was the lunch we had... Though we didn't complain as we were fine,no harm done & we were only there for the one night. We both ordered a chicken sandwich.....I suspect they may have been running short on chicken as there wasn't much of it and it was mixed in with tons of Mayo.... Just way too much - even for someone like me who loves the stuff!! Portion size was generous but disappointingly my partner found several sharp bones in hers... A bit off putting and lucky it was an adult eating it and not a small child. We absolutely loved everything else about this hotel though and we are confident that had we told the staff they would have sorted & replaced the sandwich accordingly.
Location, free parking and excellent breakfast
Wi-fi was not working properly,
Tray it & you know
The beautiful garden setting. The magnificent lounge areas, dining and pool locations. WiFi in all areas. Value for money food and drinks. Plenty of free parking. Easy drive to the Rock - 30 min.
Petro chemical odours - not the hotel's fault .
A bit of l8ving on an era gone past. Good pool good food 15 mins from gibraltar. Staff excellent and most speak some english if u don't speak spanish.i can't see anything to dislike 4th time hear and we don't tire of the place. The grounds are awesome
Friendly receptionist very helpful breakfast was excellent hot and cold buffet a really nice hotel, great for a day trip to Tangier as we did.
The garden The swimming pool The food The staff It's a beautiful hotel
Cockroach in gaming room Pieces of glass in the bathroom Faulty AC in room The smell of diesel (due to proximity to the harbor) in some rooms
Staff are really polite and friendly. Outdoor pool is not a big one but is nice and there is a lot of space around it so you can enjoy in peace.
We stayed just one night but found the young lady on reception extremely helpful and exceptionally patient.
The Reina Cristina has a wonderful history and we enjoy the ambiance and the beautiful gardens. We stayed in the newly refurbished rooms which were lovely.
When we arrived our rooms were not ready for us, despite arriving well after the time we booked them for. There were no explanations and we were left sat in the reception with no apology.
Very nice breakfast and pool area
Very friendly staff..good value, large, quiet, clean, comfortable rooms (executive). Beautiful gardens & pool with plenty of space. A lovely old hotel with charm and finesse. A nice change from the norm! Very good buffet style breakfast with plenty to choose from. Enjoyed our stay!
The location did not offer much in the way of eating out/cafe culture but a very good market was to be found within walking distance. You would need a hire car if staying at this hotel. Evening meal buffet not the greatest but adequate.
Opulent and roomy common areas, patios and lounges.
Hotel very nice
The room with twin beds and some staff not much English
Hotel itself very good, nice room but not as nice as I expected. Clean well kept and serviced Reception very helpful, when young lady wasn't "snowed under"
It was not possible to use either pool: main, due to "daytrippers" & indoor "Out of Action"..The only time really possible to use main pool was very early morning.....Evening meal was not good. Staffing very poor.We waited 20min for a waiter in cafeteria & another 40 minutes before any attention was given tous.I guess because most customers were eating outside,
Gr8 welcome, staff spoke English. B.Fast was held at restaurant with a garden patio, where majority of guest chosen to eat. Parking was free and room cheap as we paid under 40 Euros. Room service was professional and would recommend the Pumpkin soup.
Hotel is having some hiccups with the Credit Card terminal, in evening paid for room with card without problem but next morning had 2 pay cash for room service and B.Fast. Also during our B.Fast we where told 3 times by 3 different staff members that B.Fast is still 2 be paid for. Was not a problem as I also needed to pay for room service, but felt a bit bullied.
Nostalgic property, signatures of celebrities who had stayed there such as Orson Welles, F. D. Roosevelt, Richard and Elizabeth (Taylor) Burton, and Cole Porter. Grounds were well maintained. Staff was very courteous.
Supper was overpriced: prawns and mushroom entre. Had only one shrimp (small prawn); cutlets entre turned out to be 5 pieces of squid- not beef veal or pork as one might expect. Building needs a lot of upkeep and maintenance to be done. Fitness room is poor -- tiny and difficult to access (from outside).
Very good, large rooms, nothing to complain.
The hotel building, its history, tranquillity and gardens as well as the staff who were charmingly old fashioned. One had been there for 25 years he told me. The room was nice and spacious
There seems to be an issue with booking through Booking.com where some hotels insist on you paying on arrival even before you see the room. This hotel is one of them. This time I refused and I have to say they had the grace and sense to back down and I paid on departure together with the other restaurant and bar bills in one single bill.
The food was terrible. Sorry but it was. There was no-one in the a la carte section so I opted for the buffet. Not good. ALso the wifi was not working until I asked the front desk to fix it after which it was fine.
Location, old charm of traditional grand hotel....
We would not recommend restaurant a,la carte. They setup for buffe big turnover catering. We ordered menu recommended by shef and staff did not have idea what it is, after long waiting time one of dishes ( fish) was not cooked...in reception price was set at 14 euro and we were charged 16...
