Husa Meson Castilla  

I stayed at the hotel as part of a group of four women on a weekend break. The hotel is ideally situated close to all the main sights and is also very accessible from the airport using public transport. The rooms are traditonal but spotlessly clean, sizeable with good bathrooms and the breakfast was excellent. We reviewed several hundred hotels in central Barcelona and we thought this gave the best overall value for money and we were not wrong. The hotel staff were really helpful and well informed. The area also felt safe at night with good restaurants and bars close at hand and public transport very easy to access. If we visit Barcelona again we will definately stay here.

Everything is absolute perfect with Meson Castilla. This is truly a four star hotel at a two star price! The staff is friendly, all the time. The wifi worked, all the time. The breakfast is big and delicious, you wont go hungry after such a meal. The location is absolutely perfect, 5 min walk from Square Catlynua bus and metro, 10 min from La Rambla. You dont hear the traffic in this hotel, the big new University is a "sound barrier", it is very quiet location, in the center of a city. Amazing to hear this quitness! Its the building, it is a antique! Its built in the 1930. A concrete building, you can hear every move your hotell neighbour do. So if you are a light sleeper, please bring some sleeping "pills" :-)

I liked everything, just perfect for my stay.

I have been there one before (4 years ago) and I was already then very satisfied with everything. The location is excellent, the staff immensely friendly and the somewhat old fashioned interior appeals to me. I would very much like to come back another time.

The bed was a little hard and until we requested a heater the room was not warm enough, but that was rectified by the heater and the improvement in the weathert

Visitors in next room very noisy and brought in women at 4.00.A.M. quite out of keeping with this hotel and the people staying there. So, they need to be more discerning about young English males.

Hotel was a in a perfect location for a city break. It was very basic but the price refelected this.

Breakfast was a bit too regimented. You had to take a fully set tray even if you only wanted a glass or you had request every single item requred. The milk for the cereal was warm and not kept in a fridge and the toaster was tge slowest ever!!

Some rooms can be on the small side.

Lift is small.

Its vintage look catches us most. We're in a room with balcony on the 5th floor, the view at night was spectacular. Check-in time is 13:00 and it really was when we're there. Staff are mostly amicable. Room was clean but with a lil bit too strong freshener spray. Breakfast was OK, not too fancy or poor. The location was stunning, just a few minutes walk to Rambla, Placa Catalunya, and Universitat metro station. Neighborhood is not so desolate but Barcelona is a big city, should be careful everywhere you are.
