Excellent central location, very comfortable and spacious rooms

I would try to avoid rooms facing the inside patio: limited natural light and no view on the outside of the hotel

This hotel was wonderful! It is in the former US Embassy building, built in the late 1800's. The location was relatively quiet and perfectly situated for shopping, dining, and sightseeing. Our room looked out over pretty Plaza San Martin. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful.

The staff were very nice and helpful, although one desk person said no need to reserve train to Toledo and he was oh so wrong. They are clearly not trained as concierges.The breakfast buffet was very nice and a great bargain.This hotel is quiet yet short walk to major plazas. Bed firm and comfortable.

Rugs not very clean, they need a better vacuum. However, maid service good in general. Some of the electrical outlets didn't work.

The hotel is located in the centre of Madrid, very easy to commute by metro. Hotel is very nice, room is very spacious and clean, breakfast is excellent

My room was at the first floor and it was very noisy (as the windows were facing the bar inside the hotel). Also the elevator was just behind the room and I could hear it every time somebody was using it. Next time I would ask for a room at higher floor, facing the street

The staff were stand out people, very customer focused. The hotel is just a short walk from the centre of things but is quite quiet. After 4 other hotels in Spain this is one we would come back to.

The room needed a bit mote light.

Location, location, location. Friendly hotel staff. Breakfast is excellent. Clean, quiet and pleasant design.

The hotel was great. The room was big, with a bath, tv, tables, chairs. It was very calm and clean. We chose the hotel because we like a good breakfast and it was excellent with at least 3 types of cheeses, with numerous types of meat, yogurt, lots of fruits, cereals, breads and, if you want, eggs with bacon and sausages on demand. There was also tea and coffee and juices and numerous pastries. The location was great and the stuff very nice and friendly. We enjoyed the hotel a lot.

Great location for seeing the city . Staff was friendly and very helpful. Breakfast in the morning was very good .

Our room was located on an inner court that was sealed on the roof. That ment there was no air flow if you opened the window. If you don't like A.C. Be sure to ask for a room on the outer parimeter so you can get fresh air.

The only windows in the room open onto the lobby so you have to keep them closed resulting in the the room being stuffy and dark. Very unfriendly restaurant staff.

In the winding narrow streets behind the hotel there's a lot going on — shops, stalls, lots of restaurants, and tapas bars (our favourite was El Labriego, just around the corner). In front of the hotel is a broad sunny plaza for sitting and watching the world go by. We're told that it was originally built in 1886 as the American embassy, and they don't make many mistakes about location, location, and location. We very much liked the the public areas of the hotel; our spacious and comfortable room; the friendly service, and the splendid breakfast. No complaints on any score. We have no reason to try anywhere else when we come back to Madrid — on the contrary.

Parking was close by, but no special deal between the Hotel and the Parking was negotiated.
