I stayed 6 nights at the beginning of May, was in Barcelona for the first time, wished to discover the city and Gaudí's works. Booked at booking.com, looked for a nice clean hotel to sleep after Barcelona sightseeing. Accomodation in Barcelona being surprisingly expensive, Sunotel Junior offers good value for money. In short: good clean hotel, close to the center, well-communicated with public transports, friendly English-speaking staff, excellent breakfast, no big luxury, but worth its money. Well-situated, not exactly at the center, but metro station Hospital Clinic in 3 mins walk, direct line to Sagrada Familia (7 mins), 1 station to Diagonal - the beginning of Barcelona "shopping line" - Passeig de Gracia with all shops (especially luxury). You could arrive to Plaça Catalunya - many shopping centres and the beginning of Rambla, the main tourist street, - in 10 mins by metro (1 change) or by bus 66 (stops round the corner of the hotel). The hotel is well-communicated with El Prat airport: either Aerobus from Plaça Catalunya or Renfe train from Barcelona Sants (only 2 stations by metro from the hotel). 2 supermarkets, some restaurants and bakeries close to the hotel. After having booked a room, I wrote a mail directly to the hotel reception to ask how to get to the hotel from the airport and to request a room on the silent side of the street (I was afraid of Booking clients' reviews concerning noisy rooms), and the hotel reception answers were clear and precise. The hotel staff are friendly and nice, all English-speaking, they gave me a good room and were ready to help at any moment. Single room nice, well-cleaned daily, not spacious, but I didn't need big comfort for sleep. Not noisy, my room overlooking the interior garden, but thin walls, could hear other guests when they were in the corridor (but not in their rooms). No problem, since I always sleep with earplugs, so I had really good night rest. Just maybe a couple of remarks that could help you improving the quality of your service. First, I would have appreciated if the swimming-pool and jacuzzi had extended opening hours: 10 A.M. - 8 P.M. I was in the city and could't use swimming-pool, even if I didn't really need it, it would have been nice to be able to do that. Then, would maybe suggest a more comfortable pillow, the one I had was a bit too flat, but it's a minor thing. Finally, and I'm sorry for this remark, a toilet brush in the bathroom is a must, thank you for your understanding!

Everything was really good. The street is quiet but 20 minutes walking from the center. Administrators were polite and very helpful. I didn't like some noise from other guests of the hotel.

Great staff really really helpful when one of the party wasnt well. The lady who booked us in was very helpful. The breakfast room man was really good although my friend was sick outside the breakfast room. The breakfast was really good with plenty of choice hot items as well as a full continental breakfast range. Choice if different teas even healthy diet choice in the cereal. Everywhere was in easy reach via the metro lotsbof places toeat and drink within a five minute walk There was nothing that the 8 of the party disliked

The service was great, always willing to help and smiling. They let me check in at 10 am which was great considering I'd flown for about 8 hours to get to Barcelona. The surrounding area isn't in the most attractive part of Eixample (unlike the Sunotel Central) but there were plenty of facilities around including a barber who claims to have given haircuts to Kubala, Stoichkov etc. (i.e. Barca legends), the Hospital Clinic metro only a 5 minute walk away, Sants Estacio a mere 2 stops away, a few supermarkets as well. The room and bathroom was tiny, and I'm about 190 cm so I was a bit taken aback at first! However, I realised that since I was a solo traveler the smaller the room meant the less lonely I felt. Plus I spent a total of 8 hours in the room (including 6 hours of sleep that night) so for a one-night stay it was a great option.

Fast and free WiFi. Decent shower which is usually hard to come by through Europe - decent water pressure and temperature. Room was shoebox small, with a single bed against a wall which was awful. I could feel the springs in the bed, pillow was paper thin, the room was right in front of the lift so was woken at all hours of the night. Although advertised as having a pool on the rooftop this was in a neighbour hotel which required you to walk downstairs and across to the other building. Staff were generally nice yet sometimes forgot to call back when they said they would and after flying for over 40 hours and after my airline lost my suitcase on the way over I was hoping for a little more effort on arrival. After my suitcase finally arrived, the room was so small that the first day the cleaner entered my room they knocked the case off its perch and my items were sprawled everywhere when I returned to my room. I stayed for 5 nights over the public holiday and itma trade show in September so prices were dreadful across the entire city. This was priced low-mid range but was still frightfully expensive for the facilities offered even though booked months in advance. Maybe I would have been less picky if it was cheaper and at another time of year. Though for this stay, the value was very poor.

Covers major needs of a traveller pretty well. Metro too close many buses available a lot of choices with fair prices eating in the area Having a reception runned by 1 person surely reduces the cost but increases the waiting time of a resident to get served

Excellent location, lovely room with heating and air conditioning system and a safe. The bathroom had a bidet and (most importantly for me) hair dryer. Everything looked clean and fairly new, the double bed was comfortable, the receptionists were very friendly and helpful. The room maids knocked before entering and when we answered "no" they left and came back while we were away to change our towels and make our beds. I also loved the design of the room, very pretty. We've stayed both in Aston and in Sunotel Junior and there is no difference between them, except in room size, the 2 star one being smaller. The pool on the roof is a bit small, but lovely. Nothing more than what I usually find problematic when sleeping away from home: pillows a bit flat (I'm used to sleeping with at least 6 pillows so I'm not a standard for this) and the room facing the street was a bit loud if you kept the windows open, but there is no need for that. The tv was a bit small (but who needs a tv in Barcelona?) and there was no minibar (yet there were lots of restaurants/bars in the area were you could have a drink, no need for a minibar). Also the map on booking.com was a bit confusing at first if you wanted to reach the hotel from the Hospital Clinic Metro Station (which is incredibly close by), the best reference being the gas station at the intersection between Paris and Saria

“My journey at this hotel was great. The stuff were very friendly and all of them speak english fluently. The room service was excelent (the towels were changed daily, the bed is made as in the first day and the floor was cleaned every day), the men from the reception were well informed and their behaviour was a diplomatic and a polite one) the food at breakfast was plently, various and traditional, the goegrafic position permits you to travel anywhere in the city (two stations to "Saints" - a very important transport hub). It's worth ... it is all I can say.” Roxana, Bucuresti |
