Location and cleanliness
Some noise at night
The location was excellent and the rooms were good value for money. The facilities were good and clean. The staff were very helpful and moved my father to a room overlooking an interior courtyard when I asked - thanks. I had been concerned about noise as my own room overlooked a busy bar - but at night the windows kept out the sound and once the bar closed it was quiet anyway.
The location was great. We were right above a pedestrian street that had many bars and restaurants. We were nervous about the loudness, but everything quieted down at about midnight. For us, it was a great place to walk from. We visited the Guggenheim, had terrific cocktails with the "World's Best Bartender" David Rios and then enjoyed an evening walking from bar to bar having tapas and pinchos.
We had trouble finding parking. We did find one spot on the street that cost 15Euros for the day. The hotel is in a pedestrian zone, so don't expect to be able to drive up to it.
Would recommend the hostel but would advise of the noise. Good value
No air conditioning Noisy location but one has to offset that against it being in the centre of town Difficult to find
great location in the old town, spacious rooms
really noisy if window is open towards the street (we stayed in room 409), there are bars nearby
The location is excellent: train station is 2 minutes walk, it's in the heart of the old city. There are great bars for food and music.
Even taking into account it's an extremely old building and my room was 'well worn', it could have been better cleaned.
The location was fairly good; it was easy see a lot of interesting things Bilbao had to offer on foot. The Basque Museum, for example, was right around the corner. The staff of the hostel was very courteous. The breakfast was minimal, but it was appreciated.
Everything else, unfortunately. All of the rooms are up a giant flight of stairs which I had to tackle with my heavy luggage. My room was incredibly grungy-looking with lots of paint peeling off the walls and I was scared to sleep on the bed. Also, the hostel locked its doors at around 1am -- this was not communicated to me or else I would not have stayed here. I was very lucky to have made it back in time; otherwise, I would have been on the street. During my trip through northern Spain, I stayed at other hotels that were much nicer at around the same price. If I ever return to Bilbao, I will stay elsewhere.
Location and Wi-Fi, spacious bathroom. Was able to change room. Good value.
Noisy in the street in evening/night, avoid rooms above it. Simple breakfast.
Cheap hostel in a good location
The first room I've had (I visited twice during a round trip) was worn: holes in the walls, numerous cracks in the floor, broken bathroom tiles and shower head. The matrasses are rather hard.
Uncomfortable beds. Access stairs dangerous.
Very spacious and comfortable. Very good value for the money
Excellent location, helpful and friendly staff. Good wi-fi. Cheap and value for money.
Rough bed. The bathroom could have been better cleaned.
The walls seemed paper thin. I barely slept.
