Location...awesome. staff was friendly and helpful and they have good wifi.
There was nothing..all was good.
The hostel is located in the nice and cosy quarter of Santa Cruz.
The small rooms are located above the restaurant and the windows point directly to the patio of the restaurant. The problem is that there is quite some noise especially at the weekends and after the restaurant is closed, the smell from the kitchen can hardly escape because there is only an air conditioning which stays on the whole night and the air can't escape properly because the patio is largely covered by a thick cloth. I can't imagine what the situation will be like in summer, it must be suffocating.
Location - right in the middle of the old town, great atmosphere. Quiet as no cars allowed. WiFi. Breakfast is Ok.
Finding it was difficult - a blown up map would be very useful. It is near 'Plaza de los Venerables'. They didn't have an Uk 3 pin plug adaptor.
Huge disappointment. Do not trust photographs or descriptions. Most rooms have no exterior windows, only a tiny window to a covered internal patio which contains the exhaust pipes from the kitchens, so opening the windows is no option unless you enjoy the stench of rancid oil. There was an aircon unit in our room which made staying in it just about bearable, however in the middle of the night it began leaking and spilled water into my suitcase. Beds are small, hard and uncomfortable, lights in the room are neon (!), wardrobe is small, bathroom basic and dated with an extremely small shower cubicle. The entire hotel is smelly, a mix of stale air and rancid cooking fat. Reception staff were pleasant enough but for 55 euros a night this place is a rip off. Location is fine if you want to explore the cobbled streets of the old town and close enough to the Cathedral and a taxi rank, but bring good shoes and a map - you WILL get lost. I shall definitely stay somewhere else next time.
