Well located for both ways to Placa Cataluña and Arc de Triomf. The room is simple, tidy, clean and has a sink with decent toiletries. Shared bathroom is always clean, which is surprised me in a good way. Wifi works very well.
+ Friendly staff + clean rooms + quick wi-fi + the best thing about La Isla Hostal is location, location, location ;) Awesome place to stay if you planning to take walking trips around Barcelona, close to metro and Renfe station - everything you want or need is just around the corner! ;)
Very helpful and friendly staff! The location of the hostel is very convinient. Our room was big and very clean, so was the bathroom. Although the bathrooms were shared, during our stay, we didn't have to wait a single time.
There was a cettle and a fridge, but very little dining utensils, like plates, forks, spoons etc.
The La Isla Hostal was in such a great location, so close to Cuitadella Park, and walking distance to the beach, La Rambla and other Barcelona attractions that I didn't have time to visit! Room was secure and comfy, but the best part of La Isla was the friendly and approachable staff. Theyvgave recommendations for food and directions and always offering to help in some way. I would return here next time I visit Barcelona.
This is a hostel, don't come here and expect too much and you will be pleased. The location was perfect for me, I was walking to work and the wifi work fine for me. I was in room A. Adequate for one, with a view of the Arch. My room had a desk and good lamp so that I work into the night. The staff were very helpful There was a sink in my room which was a pleasant surprise. Use of a refrigerator and free coffee in the common area.
This a hostel and so do not expect too much and you will not be disappointed. The high rating comes from it's closeness to Arc de Triomf (100mts) and very pleasant staff (when reception working) Having to walk though the reception area to get to the nearest shared bathroom can be a problem for some, (and only at certain times), but I had no issues with that. This was because I was in room A; only 2 rooms had this issue; however, these were the 2 with the views...so you decide There were only two shower rooms, one was big and perfectly adequate the other too small. The sink in my room did not drain well, which was not an issue for me, but so you know... The pictures on the site show external (courtyard) seating areas, which seem to promise much but note they are no more than a well between the buildings. They are quite small. You could hear the metro rumble into the night, and the sound of other guests coming and going, which may be a problem for some. But if you are worried about night noise, choose another city. This is Barcelona after all, they party into the night most nights. Tourists come and go at all hours. I had no problems sleeping.
Staff is very nice. Location is far from city center but near metro station. Coffee, tea, drink water are free to get. Microwave can be used conveniently.
No supermarket nearby except a Chinese one. Drain is bad in the bathroom.
location, price and staff are really good. it's very close to arc de triomf and metro station. also you can arrive to the barcelonita platja by walking.
The location of the hotel is just perfect, beds are comfortable and there are plenty of supermarkets, bakeries and restaurants around! A metro station is also just accross the street!
The room turned out somewhat smaller than it seemed in the picture, but that's completely fine...Also, there was not much sunlight inside, but at least you don't need air conditioning at all!
Very nice hostel just 10 min walking from the centre of Barcelona, friendly staff excellent value for money, clean and comfortable rooms.
Location is great. Everything else is awfull. There was nice girl who helped us a lot when we just arrived.
Absolutely not comfortable room, too small for two people, no fresh air!! bad WiFi connection in room !! very noisy!
Cleaning. Comfortable bed. Brochures and information provided.
Kitchen didn't have enough plates/bowls/cutlery.
very good location with the metro stop just a few meters away. room small, but I only went there to sleep, so it was fine! wifi worked perfectly. receptionist waited for my very late arrival, which was great! enough shared bathrooms for all guests (never had to wait for someone to finish inside!). area in general also seems safe at night.
my room went right to the main street, so lots of noise, even or especially at night (heard lots of ambulances / police)! rumbling of the metro isn't as bad as other guests wrote, though. bathroom wasn't 100% clean at all times, but it's not the hostel's fault if a guest misses the toilet...
The location was perfect. Easy to find, close to Estaciò de Nord, to Metro and train station (Renfe). Nice and very helpful staff, although only on duty during specific hours (¿Low season?). Nice little patio with direct access from the Hostal.
The noice from people using the patio during late hours was sometimes disturbing, although the rest of the Hostal was very silent. To and from the room began "shaking". It took a while before we realized that it probably had to do with the passing subway.
The staff is awesome, guys helped a lot with advice, maps, printing etc. The location is excellent - subway and great park are in 1 min, placa Catalunia and reilway station are in 15 min. The room and bathroom were clean.
The room was small, dark and cold.
Location was great, minutes walk from the Gothic Quarter. Staff were very helpful. Place was spotless.
Both bathrooms downstairs had a strong not pleasant smell despite being regularly cleaned.
I ve had a wonderful Time station at the hostel. The staffs were really friendlu And helpful. Definitely good valur for money And surely quite central. For the 3 days didn't need a ticket for transport as it's quite central and near many attractions. I would definitely recommend if you are too fussed about luxury as it's decent and clean.
The people in the room next door were quite noisy but it's nothing to do with the hostel.
Friendly and helpful staff, great location opposite Arc de Triumf and Sunday market, 5 mins to Bus Station North. Perfect!
At the price, nothing.
location was great! everything nearby. rooms clean but basic. we had a private bathroom, excellent showerhead and warm water. personel very friendly. value for money.
metro below the building - earplugs are recommended. no window to look through in our room.
people are warm and nice . the bed is confortable.
the room is very small and noisy
The location is very clearly a plus and was one of the reasons to book this hostal: only a 100m from the Arc de Triomf and the subway (nice café and 24/7 supermarket close to the station), 2 stations away from Placa Catalunya - it could have been perfect. The welcome was friendly (what we rank as normal) which was the only real contact since we paid in advance and knew where we wanted to go to during our 4 days' stay. Nice small terrace.
That is unfortunately the longer part here: apart of the fact that the www photographs must have been taken by an artist (there is an unusual contrast between what you see and what you get, the rooms are by far not as stylish as on the pics, the bathroom in the room is just a wet cell and needs an urgent renovation): microwave and fridge on the doorway may be useful for those who want to store their food there (and not enjoy Barcelona's delicious food & bar scene). Shared bathrooms are also not wrong if you don't want to afford an own one in your room. But with these initially positive things, the nightmare begins: the walls are paper thin (gypsum walls as thin as the door itself), and all water tubes are on (not in) the walls which makes it extraordinarily noisy. Together with the fact that the entire kitchen corner and the shared bathrooms as well as the entrance to the small and nice terrace are not somewhere centrally away from the rooms but situated just between the rooms, you hear literally everything anyone does outside your room. We are not at all talking about regular daytime noises in a city with temperament - but if you simply want to sleep while some people then come back at midnight, handle their food by 4-5 times banging the microwave door every 5 min to see if it might be warm enough now, then having their showers and afterwards using the hairdryers, you are simply upright in your bed again. Asking for understanding is somewhat fruitless - it is something unavoidable due to the way it is offered by the hostal straight away. We finally fell asleep 1:30 am after the last door bang, knowing this Isla is rather an Isla de la muerta than an island to relax... we have travelled a lot but learned once again - we rather spend 10€ more per night next time in Barcelona to be able to sleep when we want, not when others allow... simple summary: only recommended if you are the very last one coming home each night.
Very nice hostel for a nice price
The bed in our double room wasnt a double but a 1,40 m bed. We didnt know about that before.
location location location...
bathroom in the room
the smell of the bathroom and bad ventilation.
The location is great (metro around the corner) to Plaça de Catalunya 15 minutes leisurely pace or 2 stops on the subway. The room was clean, cleaned every day, the water was hot and the evening and morning, wi-fi worked steadily.
I liked the place, the room was very nice, and so was the staff. Clean.
Ear plugs recommended!!! So loud it felt like sleeping right in the middle of a highway.
