The location was ideal for sightseeing in Avila. The staff were excellent. Access by car to the car park was very difficult. We parked nearby in the underground car park and one of the staff came with us to get us to the hotel car park which we would never have done without help. However parking in the hotel car park I would suggest is a must - don't know where else would have been possible overnight. We ate in the restaurant - the service was good but it was very expensive and the food not exceptional.

Firstly the people at Las Cancelas..very helpful, pleasant, interesting to talk to because of their knowledge of the history of the city. Excellent service, very good restaurant for dinner. The furnishings and decorations i style with the history of the building, making for a very good atmosphere. The location in the old town, next to the Cathedral and charming, quaint alleys and buildings. Again, the employees, all very friendly, and professional. This was a great "pluss" and we appreciated this. Our room was on the top floor, no elevator! Alright for young people, but not for wheelchair users or elderly people not used to climbing stairs. No inside lounge to relax/read in, apart from the small bar. There was a large patio opposite with a bar, belonging to Las Cancelas, but we felt we had to buy a drink every time we sat there. Access to the hotel by car /GPS when arriving for the first time was difficult because of one-way narrow streets, and access to the lock-up parking meant we had to drive around the town to the alleyway behind the Cathedral and drive past the tables/chairs in the narrow alley outside the entrance to the hotel, where people sat with a drink or food. Because of the inconvenience of getting to the lock-up, we felt obliged to let the car stay there during our stay, even though we wanted to use it. With this in mind, we would still recommend this place to others because of its positive sides.

Great location, good size rooms, clean and tidy, has a bar and restaurant. Decoration is a bit spartan - it used to be a monastry, and it still feels like one!

Excellent food, lovely location for dinner and typical inner courtyard for breakfast. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to see a typical beautiful old building in an excellent condition and who wants a real Spanish experience.

It was nice hotel in central location inside the walled town. The room was large & the staff friendly. There was parking next to hotel which was great but we couldn't find how to get there in the car as lots of no entry signs in the old walled city - which we later found we could ignore as we needed access. The hotel manager kindly sentt one of his staff to direct us through the maze of street to get to the parking space.

Las Cancelas is in a good location near the Cathedral. The staff are friendly and efficient. The hotel itself is decorated in medieval style and the restaurant serves excellent food. There is also a lovely outdoor courtyard across from the hotel where you can sit for a drink. We enjoyed our stay there immensely.

Avila is a lovely place and the hotel was well situated and the staff very friendly. We had to pay 30 euros per child extra, making the rooms pricey as breakfast was 6 euros, not 5 as advertised. Parking was 8 euros per day.

A hotel with real character. Fabulous old building, sympathetically modernised. Fantastic position, right under the ramparts within the ancient city. Excellent wi-fi throughout. Superb breakfast. Top floor rooms only had small, high windows, with library-steps to climb up to see the view of the ramparts. Middle floor rooms had bigger windows but the view was straight out onto the rampart wall. But that's what you get, given the amazing position of the hotel! We were either out or sleeping so the view didn't matter.

120% Recomendable.

Atmosfera piacevole, staff gentile e disponibile, camera tripla ampia e pulita. Unico neo la mancanza di una finestra apribile, nonostante il condizionatore abbiamo sofferto un po il caldo.
