I liked the way the pool area was laid out. and the wonderful landscaped terraces with the array of lovely tropical plants added great variety and interest I also found having the little private beaches a great feature also. The hotel itself is very comfortable the bar and dining area is especially fine, the only thing I think should be done is that the rooms could be refurbished as they are a little shabby and worn out in places.

The location of this hotel is phenomenal - both in terms of it being right on the beach and it being close to the old village of Puerto Carmen. Just about a 5 minute walk from the hotel is the Biosfere shopping centre where there's a Spar, a Mango, a McDonalds and lots of other shops. It's from there that I caught a bus to Arrecife and Teguise. Also, it's close to the scenic coastal walk route to Puerto Calero. As a solo traveller, I had an excellent time there. I also liked the mix of different nationalities, mostly Spanish, German and English. The breakfast buffet is wonderful.

Hotel Los Fariones is a very comfortably located hotel convenient to old and new town. But the rooms badly need an upgrade. All rooms should have access to a fridge in a climate like that. And also coffee and tea making facilities should be standard in a 4 star hotel. Still lovely location.

This is a lovely, elegant hotel with the most delightful terrace overlooking the pool and beach below. Readers, please ignore other reviewers' comments about rooms needing upgrading/refurbishing etc. The rooms may be a little old fashioned, but they are comfortable, spacious and clean, all with beautiful sea views. This is Spain, not Dubai, and it would be insane to rip out out 100 perfectly good bedrooms/bathrooms in the current economic/environmental climate. As for the remarks of john ('Mature couple' - Ireland) who complains about 'far too many old Germans who appear to be about to die'; well, talk about the pot calling the kettle black... We would not stay here in July/August as the rooms do not have air conditioning; however, as the weather is beautiful all year round, this is not an issue for us.

We loved the location and I loved the views The hotel needs some upgrading of the rooms and the towels need replacing. I expect free or very cheap internet access in a hotel and this was not available. There should be access to an English movie channel and English movies to rent

I felt welcome and found the staff pleasant and helpful. I thought the breakfast was excellent and there was great choice. There was a relaxed atmosphere. Thank you. The first night we had our evening meal in the hotel and found it poor and over priced. It was self service but was not laid out clearly and food that should have been hot was cold - i.e. beef and chips. We did not eat there again and would not do so in the future.

great location on beach with lovely surroundings and pool. Food was great, good selection and service. old fashioned heavy key, shower curtain that was too short and water went all over floor, water in shower difficult to control, intermittent wifi.

Location and breakfast and staff. Showers were a disaster even dangerous for elderly guests. Need serious plumbing changes. Grounds, poolside covers and rooms look tired and in need of refurbishment. Not 4*.

It was clean and well maintained and the food was excellent The removal of a few trees to the South of the swimming pool would greatly improve the seashore view from the bedrooms and balconies. The view was however, overall, acceptable.

Located beside the beach and close to old town and harbour, taxi rank at the door and bus stop very nearby. Options for walking from the hotel. Lovely pool/garden. Very clean, bar/lounge are bright. Good breakfast and dinner buffet. Polite helpful staff. Overall the bedrooms are dated and could do with modernization.

Location, poolside, breakfast, size of our junior suite Hotel now very tired and definitely in need of a total revamp. Our bathwater was brown. Would have preferred a duvet on bed. It is now definitey not good value for money. Would think twice about staying there again.

The hotel and its location are both wonderful. The breakfast buffet is the perfect start to a day of doing nothing in paradise. This is no Club 18-30 - most of the guests are of retirement age, so if you're looking for wild fun, this is not the place to stay. This isn't a criticism - it makes the place all the more peaceful.

We find it very relaxing and suitable for our needs. It is getting a bit dated; a refurbishment of bedroom furniture is overdue.

We have stayed many times there. It is in a good location. The basic facilities are fine. The food is just average. There are far too many old Germans there who appear to be about to die. It lacks character. It is a good 4 star hotel from an earlier era.I Was surprised when Reception asked me to pay in advance. I dont think that was the case in November 2010. Too many very old and very dreary people who put towels on the seats every morning and leave them unoccupied. It seems to be a German custom. Could the selection of tv stations be extended?

Hotel Los Fariones is an establishment that is reliable, safe, clean, convenient and rather old fashioned in its design and make up. You can be guaranteed peace and quietness at night but close to old town and new town if activities needed. The facade is rather grotty and the inside could certainly do with a massive makeover.

Not having air conditioning in the bedrooms. The sun loungers were booked by 8.00am, which meant a very early start each morning. Many of the sun umbrellas were broken. This hotel is in need of investment & refurbishment.

Excellent location on beach with lots of choice of restaurants within walking distance as long as you went in the right direction towards the old port. Beautiful view from balcony. Late check-out facilities provided. Breakfast buffet very good with the option of sitting out on the terrace. Helpful reception staff. Rooms very clean but need refurbsihing, no mini bar/fridge. Charge for the safe. Nearly all the sun loungers were 'booked' with towels before 0800 leaving no choice for people arriving after that.

We’ve just returned from a great two weeks in this hotel. It stands beside the sea close to the old town and within easy walking distance of the harbour. There is access from the well-maintained hotel grounds to a sheltered beach. A really beautiful location. The staff was courteous and attentive and the hotel breakfast was excellent. The main negatives for us were: 1. There was no air conditioning or fan in our room so it became very hot. Also there was no fridge in our room. 2. We had to pay for the use of the safe in our room (something that really annoys us).

Was a really great holiday, one of the best. Only Plea to other guests - dont reserve the sun seats! When your going down to sit out then take them. So frustrating to go down and find just one or two seats not taken and all umbrellas taken though not all occupied till some time later.

Its location on the edge of the beach is excellent and allows for early morning walking and exercise. Its breakfast facilities are very good and the food is superb. Its difficult to access the poolside unless you grap the loungers very early in the morning and of course many of the loungers are not occupied for long parts of the day but are reserved - this is not a complaint as such but could be managed better.
